Quote »a 240 with any motor is still a 240. so no, its not wrong to have a chevy motor, because the chassis is still the same. if he destroyed the suspension geometry and made it FWD in order to stick the chevy motor in, THEN it would be wrong. [/quote]

i am sure that an LT1 doesnt weight a few 100lbs more than a KA or SR.. And i'm sure all that nose wegiht wouldnt change the handling dynamic of the car at all. :rolleyes

part my argument is that Domestics ARE faster than imports and its easier to make a (well designed) big displacement motor go fast for less $$.

Cyberkreig...go back and read my earlier post on weight, its a neglible difference (approximately 60 lbs.) If you can tell a difference in the handling with 60 lbs. then way to go, but I know I certainly wouldnt care. Besides, you could always cut 60 lbs. out of the front...loose the bumper support, ac, power steering, cut out any useless metal...it could easily be done.

I have trouble beliving that it is only a difference of 60lbs.. but if that is true ( i admit that i do not know) I can only retract the above post.

Okay, after the middle of page 3, I got sick of reading, so I'm sorry if this has already been said.

Most japanese cars arent built for sheer power, they're built for handling(ie, crazy suspension work) Aries probably thought this through when making plans for his v8 s14. By putting a v8 in a vehicle that already has superior handling qualities, he's not got the best of both worlds. Its alot harder to put import suspension on a domestic vehicle than it is to put a domestic powerplant in an import vehicle.

The weights that I have came from a post from Aries...I really dont know how they are so similar either, but I also would think he would be knowledgeable on the weight of the engines. Unfortunately, I cant go out and weigh a sr/ka/ca vs. an lt1 :(

Edit: Cyberkreig...I'm not picking a fight with you either, I just enjoy a good domestic vs. import arguement since I like both for different things :D

The car was built to prove that it could be done, and because I was looking for a solution to the **** talking of all the domestics. Don't get me wrong, I was happy in the 11's with my KA non turbo.
Drakon wrote:Hey trpower, ur the kid who needs to get off this board. what are you even doing here?? shouldnt you be on some old *** american crap msg board? I know that domestic cars started it, now they need to step back and let the people who made everything invented better do it. (Japanese) YOu did make a good point thou...the 350 is old as F*** . and reliable? my ***. If people who put up with the maintenance crap of an american car went out and got a Nissan or a honda or even a toyota they would never go back. now not EVERY single american car is complete crap. but its a generalization i can easily live with.
Bah, obviously you don't understand. I've been through 2 headgaskets in the last 5 montsh on this motor making about the same power my KA made. The KA would to through 2 a month at this power level.
Drakon wrote:Ya lets just get rid of gas combustion engines alltogether! what a frigin idiot. i dont mind if people said they like the car. i posted a poll to find out. so now i know there lots and lots of american muscle car people driving 240's for god knows why. k can someone lock this post it getting long. why not delete it alltogether.
Cause then I couldn't reply ;)

People keep missing the point here. i give up, ya'll dont listen. I wouldnt care if an american car was the fastest Fing thing on earth, its crap. I like not running out of gas before hitting top speed. 2.0 l is nice like that
I cannot even reach top speed in my car. The front end starts to lift at about 170mph and I usually let out.And if you think I'm going tu run out of gas, well you're wrong. I get about as good of gas milage as most of the SR swap cars do. 250 miles to a tank.
Cyberkreig wrote:This thread is so frusterating to read. 6 pages of how darkon is wrong. Yes we get it. But you have all missed the point of the original question. and my posts keep getting ignored.

Is it wrong to drop a chevy motor in a nissan and claim fastest nissan? Sure is.
It's not the fastest Nissan.Never will be.And I never have said it was :pface
Rockenreno wrote:It'd be fine if a Camaro showed up with a Nissan engine... I dunno why you'd do that but you could
yep, and the rules only say "Nissan body, or motor" either way :) I don't care if you bring an SR20 powered RX7 out there! Just come and have fun! It's all for charity anyways.

The LT1 weighs 58lbs more than the stock KA.

Nah, this thing handles like a brick. Sure it'll drift, but it's making the wheels stop spinning once you're out of the corner that's a problem.

I'm actually looking for a CF front lip to go under a Bomex front bumper. The increased airflow should allow my intercooler plenty of cold air, and the turbo will be intaking air through the drivers side fog light port in the bumper.Hopefully that will drop my front clearance to about 1.5-2 inches and allow for higher top end runs.

I've gotta do something about the front lifting if I plan to do close to 200mph at about 7.80 in the 1/4.

I got told! LoL

Modest plans, regardless of who made the block 7.8 in the 1/4 is crazy.

so by quoting me are you saying simple canards arent that bad of an idea, if you have the Hp to need it?

EDIT: I kinda like the LOOK of them, but i didnt figure they had any real use without careful adjustment.

just so you know. the vast majority of imports are made to be reliable and get good gas mileage. if they're fun with decent suspension, its just a plus. all the top selling imports have been pig like 4cyl crap monsters.. like the accord and camry. besides, very very few imports have anything worth a crap in the handling department stock.

Ya not all imports are made to handel, looks at HKS 180sx, I bet that thing couldnt outhandle a big wheel. Its what the person wants, its their car. Hey at least Aries is doing performance to it!!! He could of easily dropped that $$$ into wings, lights, primer and a tacky body kit, and 20 inch chrome rims, and alot of other things. :D Go Aries!!!

are domestics different?? nearly all modern automobiles, foreign or domestic, are aimed at the average consumer, aka the mainstream population. to say that few imports handle well, maybe you should have just said very few cars handle well at the limit of adhesion. don't be fooled, car companies are in business to make money, and the mainstream is where the money is. corvette and H2 sales alone will not keep GM afloat, but the sales volume of saturns, geos, buick, pontiacs, and the lesser chevy models will. All this, and I haven't touched the subject of trucks.

to your statement about the accord and the camry being crap, i ask you why these two cars are top sellers? again, mainstream, basic(oh, the horror of BMW's I-drive), economical, useful, safety are selling points to the mass populous. Not will it pull a g and cut high 11's

Canards aren't a bad thing at all. If you are doing the type of driving to need them. Realistically, HP means nothing when it comes to canards. They are there simply to guide the air out and arround key areas which would otherwise cause drag. Wheel wells are the most common, however I have seen a couple of the new HKS S15's with them used as guides arround the mirrors. Seems they're tring to get close to the Blitz GTR in top speed (235mph) and so far they're having problems clearing 180 without the wind tearing things up.

I think it's an AMAZING Idea!

Aries, I e-mailed you, wanted to know if you sold mounts for the swap? Just pretty much need the Engine mounts for a 350 Chev Carbed motor, and the automatic transmission.

PLease let me know if you can, I tried PM but it's not enabled.

[email protected] is my e-mail address.

Thanks,

Jay

I'm also pretty interested, if there are mounts available that will make the swap a little easier, let us know.

first, Drakon, its totally retarded to say the motor is american garbage. seams to be the new rice craze, HATE AMERICAN CARS YEAH! move to japan jackass

america makes damn good cars.

and back on topic, he wants power, the car is a purpose built drag race/street racing machine, and hes not a millionaire, for his power levels hed need an RB26 balls out insane build up. not streetable, i believe hes making over 1200 lb. ft. of torque and is still on a streetable cam

how many RB26s are making 1200 lb ft.???? not to mention its only at the very beginning of its evolution.

until you can beat him, keep your mouth shut.

BTW, his "american garage" engine has been standing strong and will continue to do so for a long time.

My only problem with the 240ss is that it doesnt promote nissan power...id much rather see a RB26DETT in a camaro :)
