Japanese motors change because they are getting better, They take the basic idea and update it a little.

this is an amuzunig argument. I my opinion if it makes the owner happy more power to them. I don't think i would ever put asmall block chevy, or any v8 for that matter, in an import but thats mainly cause i do not want to go through al the trouble to do it.

please note i realize there are v8 powered imports. so no oh snap what about the sc 400 etc.... :D

I think its awesome that he stuck a small block in there. I don't know what your problem with American cars is but there are some damn good domestic cars. There are also some really bad Japanese cars, its just how it works. If you are building a car for the 1/4, I don't know of a better way to go than "American muscle." Japanese cars aren't usually built for it, and neither are their engines. If you plan on drifting around some high passes or something, I'd suggest the lighter 4 cylinder Jap engine for weight ratios and all that stuff. If you get pissed at this why aren't you pissed about skyline engines going in 240s, or sr20s going into supras and rx-7s, or even sr20s going in to 240sxs (they aren't stock here in america). For that matter, are you against all engine swaps, or are you just whining about your dislike for american cars, because that's all it sounds like you are doing... You can dislike anything if you want, but it's not evil to swap an american motor into a japanese car or vice versa, just different and hard to do in most cases. It's just an engine...

The only engine I'd rather have in my 240 than a CA is a built small block chevy engine. The reason it has gone virtually unchanged for 3 decades is because it is a VERY reliable engine. Drakon...have you ever even owned an american car? It's all my family drives and we have yet to ever have a problem with a chevy small block. I love Aries's car, I just wish I could afford a small block swap, its awesome! As for the weight issue: A small block chevy weighs 590 lbs. An SR20 weighs 530 lbs. A CA is a bit less than an SR (hardly any) and the KA is right around there too...now if you are a good enough autocrosser/driver/drifter to tell a 60 lb. weight difference then awesome, but I doubt many people are. The weight of the engine is not a valid reason to not like it. Finally, the LT1 has a cast iron block, what is there not to love about a cast iron block? STRONG, doesnt expand as much as aluminum does from heat, and its not much heavier than an aluminum block since more metal is needed to make the aluminum block strong enough. What I'm getting at is that the LT1 swap is awesome and if I had enough money, I'd have done it too!

I'm not trying to fully take his side, but I think he's saying if you want an LT1, why not get a corvette? If I could buy a 240sx with an sr20 I would, but it it isn't available, that's why I need to do the swap. But if I wanted american power I'd get an american car.also, is shooting juice still NA?

I'm still daydreaming about putting a ford Boss302 into an s13. I am very impressed with Aries and what i've heard about his 240ss. It is my opinion that Aries and his fellows at Lime Creek are true craftsmen. I'd wager that even with all the tools, time, and equipment, most NICO members couldn't do this swap...and wouldn't know where to start. My hat is off to Aries for being original and creative, using old school V8 power in an import.

one thing i have learned the most from the NICO family is that a true car enthusist (sp?) would not make such a biased and ignorant statement or poll, thats just somthing from a younger newbie member to the car world, in time he will learn to enjoy and even respect almost every car on the road and the reasearch and engineering that went into them all regardless of make model or nationality! just think you dont have the knowledge to build or design even the simplest of motors ! so you shoulnd bash a domestic or import , my respect from the domestic sector has grown greatly as of late and im even thinkin about pickin up a fox body stang soon! i want some of that V8 fun !! and do some crazy work on it, its all power domestics just make it more raw and load i like that but i also like the quiter FI cars that have the displacement of one cylinder on a giant V8, they are all cars and i love them ! a statement like that has just made me lose any respect for you that you may have gained here!

A fox-body stang, huh? hmm, there's one floating around these parts that was once in the service of the Washington State Patrol. It now has a built 351, pushing 400whp, built 5 speed, bombproof 9inch rear. Caged, race prepped, slightly street legal. Good for low 12's on drag radials with a novice pilot.A sleeper in the truest sense, except for the cage, which is color matched to the interior, so the average ricer will not notice as he glances over and scoffs. The owner runs stock wheels on the street, no stickers, no badging, no huge pipes. stealth mode.

What kind of sanctimonious, pretentious attitude is that? That is absolutely ridiculous. You are entitled to your opinion about his project and no one would deny you that right. But to tell anyone who disagrees with you that they "shouldn't be driving a Nissan or even a Japanese car" is the most ignorant statement I've heard in a while (and trust me, there are plenty of ignorant statements here on a daily basis)

People happen to have all kinds of different goals and uses for their cars. If you don't like the idea of a Chevy small block in your car... cool.... good for you... don't do the swap. But, to say "nothing is sacred" just because someone else decided to do it.... then you're just being a prick.

Get over it pal... there's a lot of Nissan owners in the world besides you... contrary to your own narrow outlook.

its obvious why he did the swap, he wanted the power of a corvette, but he wanted the sleek, sexy look of the s14....:rolleyes thats sounds like reason enough for me, if i could do it too, i would

I saw a guy around here with maroon fox-body stang that i THOUGHT was stock, cept for the hood and the indiglo gauges. as i pulled up next to him and the light turned green, i glanced over and saw the boost gauge and then heard the SC spool up. very sneaky.

And SUPER MAD PROPS to Lime Creek. they did a great job on the car and if i wanted something like that done, i'd go there. american V8s are beasts and they are realiable. the most problems you have with american cars arent from the motors, they are from parts on the cars wearing out. i would love to have that 240z with the blown LT-1 from that video. if hes able to keep up with an R1, its gotta be hella fast. ignorance will get you no where dude. each side of the pond has its high points and low points in the auto business. i would love to put a VH or VG in my S13, hell i wish i still had my truck so i could yank the 390 and cram it in Roxanne. if the torque off of that thing could lift the front of my 2 ton truck up, then it'd probably twist my 240 in half!

I still think you all miss the point

Is the LT1 "american crap"? NO!Is the swap friggin amazing? YES!

Is it truly a fast nissan? NO, Its not nissan powered.Havent people been making the LT1 (and other domestic) motors go fast for a long long time. YES!

Aeries is not the first person to make an LT1 go fast. Making an american V8 fast isnt the same challenge as making an I4 go fast. He might be the fastest Nissan on this board.. or wait, is he the fastest Chevy on this board?

The other point that needs to be made here is that Japan is not currently producing an n/a engine that will match the LT-1 for power, torque and weight. How is an LT-1 crap? I suppose that's why Chevy puts it in their flagship car. :rolleyes

Besides, why spend a friggin fortune making a Jap V6 fast when you can drop $2K on a crate motor and make it haul a$$?

As regards the 350 comment, the last 2 350-powered Chevy trucks I have owned have left my ownership with a combined total of 440K miles ON THE ORIGINAL ENGINE (no rebuilds). Our current one (350-powered Suburban) has 160K and is still capable of getting that fat-arse 7200-lb beast airborne. :D

What's sacrilegious is seeing ANY car that's poorly maintained.

We have a Chevy Suburban with the 350 in it. The suburban has 182K miles and is till running strong.

Now how can i make enough room in my S13 to fit a SC 351 in it! :D My bro-in-law has a '98 Cobra with a SC 351 in it, talk about pins your head in the seat! Nothing better than pinning it twice, once because of the brute torque of a 32 valve 351, then the SC pops in at 4000 RPMs right when you start to peel your head off the seat, it puts it right back in. Brought it to the track once and was running 12.50 spinning the tires through 3rd gear. AMERICAN HP!!!

I once dised Aries' engine swap, but after I saw the site, i've learned to love it. Props to Aries! Now were's the T100 weeeeeee! :D

Our blazer has the V6 thats based off the 350. and it'll spin the tires when in the rain for a good 150ftor more before it finally gets traction, and its an auto. with 160k on it, its still running fine engine wise. the parts are wearing out on the car faster than the engine. i dont think we'd had any real problems with it other than the EGR. a true masterpiece of american technology. and if you wanna get crazy, what about the hemi. hemispherical combustion chambers to allow crazy compression ratios. with a cross ram manifold, bored no more than 40 over and a mild cam, you could make well over 600hp, if not more. not bad for an old P.O.S. american push-rod engine.

At least Eklectrick is getting the point. Save all the things i hate about american cars, set them aside for just a minute.

The engine should not be in that car. if you want an american engine you get an american car. You dont go putting one into a japanese car. Theres a good point you are all making for me. thank you, it took some work getting that in. Why? cause it shouldnt be done. I think theres alot more people that think the same thing as me but dont want u guys all on thier nuts about it. I hate american cars but i dont hate you guys. Dang ur getting vicious. I didnt say the 350 couldnt put out power, i said its old and needs to retire.

( U dont know a single things about my knowledge of cars or engines, so dont go making ignorant comments like that. thank you)

To the cat that started asking me why i dont hate swaping sr's or rb's or that stuff into different cars. ITS THE SAME FING COMPANY AND ENGINE STYLE!! And cross Japanese engines dont really bother me cause, they are made in japan.

Another thing, if I could live in Japan I would! So unless you wana pay for me to move over shut ur mouth.

And i hope Aeries doesnt take this whole thing like most of u are, cause i just was comenting on how a japanese car shouldnt have an american engine.

I'm not hating on anyone that didnt hate on me first, i'm just hating on ur ride choice.

So you are saying an RB is the same style as a KA? Hmm, right. I6 twin turbo = NA I4. I'm sorry, that's my mistake. It sounds to me like you are just anti-american cars. When it all boils down there is no difference between swapping in a honda or ford engine into any car. Arguably, there is no difference between an RB swap or a Porsche swap. For that matter, is it bad to swap a German or Italian engine into your 240? Maybe someon will stick a Ferrari engine in, is that wrong? Nobody is stopping you from going to Japan but yourself. Have fun.:wavey

1) Learn Japanese, you can do it in your spare time. You obviously have plenty of it because you are posting here.2) Get a job. I'm sure McDonalds is hiring. Maybe while you work drive-thru there will be some Japanese tourists that pop in and let you practice speaking Japanese.3) You started this thread and asked people's opinions. These opinions have been spoken. Get over the fact that many disagree with you.

If we all felt that way we'd be a VERY lazy society. Thank God we don't.

Besides, tell that to Suzuki (engines in Chevys) and Mazda (engines in Fords) and Mitsubishi (engines in Dodges) and... Oh, never mind. :rolleyes

I didnt say the 350 couldnt put out power, i said its old and needs to retire. If that's true, then so should the KA, Toyota's 22R, Honda's 1.6l... Hell, why not retire internal combustion gasoline engines as a whole? Dumb statement. Again, why retire something that CAN NOT BE BEAT? Go ahead - Name some good competition that makes sense and I'll buy you one. You can't - And neither can the thousands of engineers who agree it is the best powerplant for the premier American car on the road today.

(U dont know a single things about my knowledge of cars or engines, so dont go making ignorant comments like that. thank you) We've seen enough people talk out of their a$$ to make an educated guess. And my guess is you're driving your first, maybe second car and have never built an engine, or even disassembled one...

By the way, there are only 2 completely 100% (parts and assembly) American-built cars on the market today (not counting minor electronics and etc which are ALL outsourced). If you can tell me which two, I'll shut up. And THAT is something worth working for... LOL:D
