Just did a couple of LED light changes to my M45....I know if a previous post someone was asking about the license light changes to look like a Lexus....Here are my pics....Tell me what you think

Here is a picture with one of the License lights replace compared to the stock. In the picture it looks really blue but the light is actually white.

Here is another picture of the License plate light comparison and also my reverse light LED conversion (once again it's really not that blue)

Here is a close up of the License light

Here is my Driving Light conversion to White LEDs....Once again the light seems blue but its more of a HID look

Here is another

Here's the overall look

Here is the comparison....this is the stock driving light

And here is the LED converted driving light....notice it's really not that blue

What do you think?

Thanks for all the compliments....it such a simple mod and it makes a world of a difference. Here is are the links for all the changes. Keep in mind the prices are for a pair of lights.

Here is the website that I went to for the lights. It took them about 4-5 days to get my shipment to me.

http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Con...ocity

Here is the link to the specific Driving light bulb. (I only went for the 11 LED option but there is another light with 19 or 27 bulbs)

http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Con...32481

Here is the link for the License plate bulbs

http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Con...32481

Here is the link for the Reverse lights

http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Con...32481

I also switched out my rear turn signals because I didn't like the fact that I can see the amber bulb in the clear turn signal when it was not in use. I personally do not recommend this because the switch over to LED makes the car think that the bulb is out ( since LED uses such little power) and now my turn signal blink like its on crack. This website sells a relay but I personally dont think it's worth it and my be switching back. Plus its a pain to get to those bulbs.

Hope this helps

Replacing the driving light is easy, and when I say the driving light I'm talking about the little light bulb in the highbeam housing. Once you open the hood and remove the left or right plastic paneling there plug is right there in the open. Just twist and pull the socket and bulb out. Hope this helps

To answer your question yes there is a difference between LED and HID. The bulbs that I switched out were LEDs and will put a lot more light/brightness compared to stock bulbs. HIDs, typically for foglights and headlights, uses a special light bulb and a ballast to push more power to the HID bulb which will provide the High Intensity Discharge(HID) light. Hope this helps.

Currently I am looking to replace my stock fog lights with a 3000K HID kit that will put out a bright Yellow light (hopefully like the older Lexus IS and GS)

sorry, I think I'm getting mixed up on terminology. the highbeam lamp is the same as the driving light you are referring to here, right? since these are LED, does it make the highbeam useless? or does it still project out far enough to be used as a highbeam?

nevermind, I answered my own question. this is simply that tiny bulb that share the same housing as the high-beam halogen bulb.

also, try "miata" for the coupon code--it worked for me to get 10% off.

Thanks pmtran16 for the information. I had another question. Do all m35 come with hid headlights. Im trying to switch the bulbs for brighter ones and i was looking towards the MTEC D2S 6000k. Would you happen to know if our healights are HID or do i need to buy a kit.

Thanks for the LED info. Is there an LED option for the two trunk lights. I find the stock lights very dim.

agreed. I find the trunk lighting to be a bit dim as well. wonder if the lighting placement and shape of the trunk area makes any difference.

NBP45 how do you like the amber bulbs replacement for the little bulb in the highbeam housing? I was considering that but I on the hyper white.

To comment on the turn signals. I switched out my rear turn signals with yellow LEDs from the V-LED website. It is not a very easy task. I had to remove the upper and side inner trunk panels and the trunk mat to be able to get to the rear turn signal light. It was a pain. One thing to keep in mind, after switching out the original bulb with LED lights, since LED requires less energy the car thinks that the rear bulb is out and your turn signal will blink at a very fast rate. My turn signals blink like it's on crack. V-LED sells a relay to work around this issue. I have yet to get this relay but I am reconsidering these LED lights because the rapid light blinking is really annoying.

Hope this helps

Im actually not sure if all M35/M45 have HID bulbs. I have HIDs on my 06 m45

The bulbs that I switched out are not too bright. They really give the car a clean look. They're not too overwhelming. You'll be very happy with the change.

Thanks for the info...Ill just leave the rear turn signals alone for now....I personally like the way the amber looks with the HID's...these lights look good when your close but since its amber its not as bright as the white leds...its very subtle from far awaythe ambers I have are the 11 leds with 3 forward lights...less light reflected in the housing...the 9 leds with only 1 forward lighting might have been better with more light reflected within the lens housing
