My leds (Lic. Plate) should be in any day now.

Any pointers for an easy install?

Its pretty easy to do. Just take out the plastic pins to remove the trunk lid panel covering the license plate bulb and just a twist and pull off the license light plugs. Keep in mind that LED bulbs, unlike regular bulbs, there is a positive and negative side. If you put the bulb in and the light doesn't work, try rotating it before you return it.

SunLitSandMax00SE, Your lights look nice, did you get the single white LED or did you get more cause your lights look really bright. Either way looks good

these should work for the backup lights too, right?

http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Con...32481

pmtran16, with the 6-led for the back-up lights, do you already find those to be brighter than the oem bulbs? my windows are tinted pretty dark so having a brighter backup-light would actually help quite a bit when I am parking.

Yeah those are the ones that I used for the reverse lights. They look really nice but they really dont make a big difference in brightness. You might want to get brighter bulbs for that.

pmtran16 wrote:Just did a couple of LED light changes to my M45....I know if a previous post someone was asking about the license light changes to look like a Lexus....Here are my pics....Tell me what you think

Here is a picture with one of the License lights replace compared to the stock. In the picture it looks really blue but the light is actually white.

Here is another picture of the License plate light comparison and also my reverse light LED conversion (once again it's really not that blue)

Here is a close up of the License light

Here is my Driving Light conversion to White LEDs....Once again the light seems blue but its more of a HID look

Here is another

Here's the overall look

Here is the comparison....this is the stock driving light

And here is the LED converted driving light....notice it's really not that blue

What do you think?
I guess i am confused. i like the idea of LED, i like the "white" look of it Vs. the more yellow of the HID. but can you see better with the LED or the HID? i dont see that well at night, so i am looking for the better option for that issue.

Thanks for your help.

just insalled my lights and they look SWEET. took about 10 minutes to install (only because I was changing them in the garage w/o a flashlight). On a side note with the parking light LED's are easily removed and incredibly bright so if you need an engine compartment light, just unscrew the parking light and point it where you need the light.

Bull to answer your question the parking light LED's don't give any extra light. I haven't changed my headlights, so unfortunately can't help you there.

Summary- about $35 and about 6 days (including weekend) then 10-15 minute install for a VERY clean look.

Between LED and HIDs the HIDs will provide more light and brightness and will help with the night vision. LED provides more of a cosmetic enhancment.

Very nice. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I do like the look, i think that i will order. i tried to click the links to the V-led site, but kept getting "currently un-available" page.

I'll keep trying. I just got my M two weeks ago, and haven't done a thing to ot yet, so i am excited to get ANYTHING done on it.

I guess these would be the only other option to go with for brighter back-up lights. it would definitely be an easier choice if it wasn't so pricey.

I agree 50 bucks is way to much to spend on reverse lights

Regarding LED TURN SIGNALS, i found the following to make them blink normally for $7.00.

Does anyone know if there is a white turnsignal for the bulb on the side of the car?

Went ahead with the 19 LED bulb. Here are some pictures.

OEM bulb...

...replaced with LED bulb

LED bulb

OEM bulb (it's actually more yellow than this as you can see in the next picture)

head-on comparison (the LED definitely produces whiter light, but even the 19 bulb LED isn't any brighter than the OEM filament bulb

Paigoomein, Nice pics.....yeah I agree with the fact that it's really not brighter but I definitely like how it looks. It's really suddle but really cleans up the look. I think 19 LED is brighter (obviously) but I might like that better than my 11 LED bulb.

My personal favorite driving with just those lights on....not when it's dark but when its dark enough to notice the lights

Nice post

agreed. I love that it's not a drastic change, but that it's really a clean, subtle effect. also did the license plate lights, and that's an even more subtle difference.

I might swap out the back-up lights back to the OEM filament bulb--the LED bulb is more front-firing and doesn't take advantage of the reflective surfaces. either that or I'll empty my wallet and get the brighter LEDs.

Next up I will probably change out the trunk lights.

lol, i was thinking the same thing when I was changing out the other lights at night. Then the stupid practical part of my brain said "how many times have you opened your trunk at night in the past 3 months", to which the fun part of my brain said "a half dozen and the yellowish light was oppressing, you jerk"

Try this link instead for the "load equalizers" to make turn signals blink normally.

http://www.ledlight.com/led-fl....aspx

Has anyone yet tried the fog light conversion (H11)?

ok, I will most likely swap out the LED lights back to the OEM filament bulbs for the backup lights. cosmetically, it looks nice, but it basically renders is useless as a backup light. bummer.

I just did the license plate blub switch. It was super easy, once I figured out how to get the clips off.

However, these bulbs are really bright. Im trying to decide whether theyre too bright or not... I think I was going for the same brightness, just the white color instead of the yellow. I dont want them to scream, "I Changed These Myself."

I have all of the LED's on this string on the way plus the FOGS, dome lights and the top trunk light.

HEY PMTRAN, great job with all the pics!!!

I ordered the ones PMTRAN posted the link for:http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Con...32481

They certainly dont look bad. But they overshadow even the tail lights... just my opinion, to each his own. I've left mine on for now, Im going to try and get used to them. I need to find a lexus around and compare...
