Morning Ben.

Hows your turbo project coming along?
I got pretty far but had to stop since I couldn't connect my downpipe without an 02 sensor bung welded into it. I was able to get everything mocked up and IC piping run and the FMIC mounted though. Ended up removing all of the a/c components; compressor, lines, condensor, and drier from under the hood since I never used it anyway. The system didn't purge a single bit, was pretty damned dry. It also made for A LOT of additional room to work with.

I'll have someone weld in my bung here at work today and then I have to run the BOV, manual boost controller, boost gauge, and wire up my IAT and away I go!

Sounds like your making good progress, Ray!

I've got my BOV hooked up,down pipe installed. I want to make some better brackets for my intercooler and then i can at least get the front of the car back on.

I wish i could ditch my A/C system too,it sure would have made things easier but i got to have it .

Yeah, it is a bit warmer in TN that it is here in New England. Getting rid of your A/C isn't much of an option.
We made some intercooler brackets that mount to the hood latch. I'm hoping that with the piping in that there won't be much moving around but if it does, there is plenty of room to mount some extra support from the bottom. It looks awesome in the air dam of the miata since it runs nearly the whole width and length of it. Kinda glad I didn't paint it flat black like originally intended.

The season is coming! Our fall is about to start ande're at 70's with 50-60's at night alllll week with no rain in sight. I want to finish up the install so that I can have some awesome dense air fall days and a couple of boosted cruises to NH and/or VT on some windy roads. :D I also want to hit up the last of the auto-x season that I haven't participated in. I won't be able to go all out since the clutch won't be happy about it, but it'll still be fun.

It's been much cooler here the past couple of days. The Maxima runs a ton better with cooler air. It broke the tires loose on dry pavement last night at a 20mph roll and took off. Not too shabby for a crappy automatic.

How's everyone doing today?

Morning Ben.

Can I get your opinion on something?

The exhaust manifold studs came out of the head with the nut attached, essentially making them "bolts." I tried to put them back in but was having difficulty lining up the holes in the manifold with the holes in the head but the turbo was too heavy to pivot and articulate by myself while trying to spin only a couple of my "bolts".
Defeated, I retired to two stiff drinks last night.

This morning I decided that I should separate the studs and the nuts anyway so I could get them back in the head. I did that on a vice and didn't damage the threads or anything. They actually look pretty damned good- no corrosion or bad threads on either side.

I am tentatively planning on removing the whole damned downpipe (was a b**** to get one) and the turbo manifold again and putting the studs back into the head and hanging my manifold on it properly this time.

My question to you is- would it be okay to reuse the head studs? Whats the right way to pit them back in? I'm thinking to twist them in with Locktite and then use vice grips on the non threaded part for a couple of more turns. Am I on the right track?

Mornin' Ray!
I run into that s*** all the time.
I think the original studs will be fine, just put some Loctite on them as you said.

In other news,i fitted the front bumper on my car yesterday and it looks like i am going to have raise the intercooler and redo the piping a bit.

AWWW MAN! Thats annoying as all get up.
Or you could use the sawzall and notch the back part of the bumper that no one sees?

Thanks for the tip. I'll reuse them.

I don't think i am going to have to notch the bumper support,i just need to raise it about 2 inches to get a little more ground clearance.I was thinking the bottom of the bumper cover was lower than it is.

I miss my bluetooth keyboard. I used it all the time with I had my HP Touchpad, but I let it go when I sold it to get more money out of the deal.

I ended up holding off on getting a N7 for myself. As much as I want it, I don't really have a good purpose for it with us having the iPad too. I still can't make myself get over the 7" form factor too... The whole reason I got rid of my 7" HTC Tablet was because I didn't use it once I got my GNex. I feel like i'd do the same thing if I picked up the N7 eventually. I probably will get another tablet eventually, but I think i'll wait and see what comes out later this year, or the first part of next year.

I got all of my stuff in today for the Maxima though. This weekend it's getting new poly sway bar bushings and end links, a 12" Infinity subwoofer installed with an amp, and then some LED lighting in the trunk and tag lights. After that, the only LED lighting left to do will be under the hood and in the vanity mirrors. Lots of fun stuff.
