Yeah I just moved a couple months ago.

Moving to Idaho for work. The company opened a new location and I'm transferring to handle training.

Sweet. This isn't a question: I hope the move is accompanied by a nice bump in pay to make up for relocation.

I'm looking forward to it, actually.

I also get to make this drive at leisure on the weekends, which is a very nice bonus.

Only two downsides:
1: Right now I live within 30 minutes of my whole extended family. They mean a lot to me. I'll be closer to 3 hours away after the move. So I can still drop by, but it'll take a little more planning.
2: There aren't many people I feel genuinely comfortable around, but I met someone VERY recently who is one of the few. She also happens to be very VERY easy on the eyes. Don't get any ideas...nothing "happening" there. But I'm still not happy that I might not see her again. I generally don't like people. The few I DO like, I'd like to keep around.

I hear you on that. I moved away for a job too, but only about 60-80 miles.

And I wish I had a drive like that. All I get is flat. And straight. And corn. Sucks.

Afternoon guys.

I just got done buying some car audio stuff for the Maxima. I already had an Infiniti 12" sub and Sherwood amp, but I finally got around to getting a box, wiring kit, and everything else to hook it up. Then it looks like I'm getting a new head unit for my birthday. I despise the Panasonic in it.

When you going to work on the install?

Reminds me that I really need to get moving on mine.

But today is for updating phone/tablet/computer (new SSD and clean install of Win7 with maybe a Win8 dual boot).

I'll probably start later this coming week. The box and wiring kit will be here on Tuesday, then the fuse block will be here on Thursday. I probably will go ahead and load the box with the sub, then pre-mount the amp once I find a place that I like in the trunk. I'll probably wait until next weekend to run all of the wiring though, since I won't have to drive the car. That way I can take my time running everything and make sure it all looks clean.

Funny... i've been spending most of the day re-installing Win7 and programs back on the laptop. Toshiba FINALLY got the recovery discs to me, so I was able to get it going again. I'd like to give Win8 a try soon - i've seen a few upgrade pre-order deals out there for it.

Hi Ben! Yeah, I wish I could check in here more often during the week. I usually still lurk quite a bit, but it's hard for me to post much while i'm at work. Usually the weekend is when I have the most time to be on the internet now.

How's everything going with you?

Good to hear everything is going good. Busy is good too, as long as it's not interfering with quality of life. I appreciate being busy at work a lot more now after having so much down time at my previous job.

Thanks! It's still a month away, but the wife gets upset when I tell her I want things and end up buying them myself. So I gave her a list of three acceptable stereos that I wanted and told her to pick one :gapteeth:

I've installed amps on the sub box and the backs of the rear seats. As long as there is clearance for some airflow, both can work without doing too much permanent damage to the car. On the sub box makes it easier for thieves to steal the whole kit though, which might be a good thing (less likely to cause damage ripping it all out).

I've got my TechNet copy of 8. My 80 gig SSD is getting a bit full (currently my Win7 OS drive) so I snagged a newer, faster 128 gig SSD to swap in. That leaves my 80 gig drive wide open, so I might as well use it for testing 8 out. Unfortunately, it looks like that is waiting until tomorrow. I ended up taking the chainsaw out to clean up a downed limb and then cleaning my gutters. Far less exciting, but probably more important. Might get some stuff backed up though so tomorrow I can just wipe and reinstall.

I have this problem myself. And my whole family complains.

Hi Bex!

Adam - I think i'm gonna mount the amp to the box, as long as it'll fit on there fine. I want it to be easy to remove, in case we need the extra space for a trip for some reason. My ultimate goal is to avoid that, but I want the ability to if needed.

I ended up spending most of the day re-installing software and cleaning up the laptop.

Yeah most of the family hates that with me too. The reason I buy those things though is I don't expect people to spend that much on me. Usually me and Kristen spend around $100 on each other for our birthdays. Occasionally more, but usually that's about the maximum. I'm also picky with things like that, so I don't want to just say "I want a stereo", because I want some very specific features for this one.

I finally got around to crawling up under the Maxima a couple of hours ago, which is what I originally intended for today. I've had a suspension squeak driving me nuts for weeks - so I think I finally tracked it to sway bar bushings tonight. Hopefully the control arm bushings aren't shot too - they looked ok from what I could tell. It still amazes me how clean that car is underneath - i've never seen a Nissan so rust free and well cared for - ESPECIALLY with nearly 200k on the clock.

You should have seen the Bluebird. 48 years old when we got her. Looked like she rolled off the showroom floor.

Someday I hope to see all of those cars.

My old I30 had all kind of rust going on underneath and in various places. No holes, but it seemed like I was constantly having to stay on top of rust repair. I HATE rust.

I'm planning on buying a beater here soon, so I don't have to drive the Maxima much this winter. I don't want it to have to deal with the road salt here and the snow.

Holy crap I'm tired of laundry and packing.

I feel like watching a movie but can't decide between Lawless and Premium Rush.

I'm a HUGE Gary Oldman fan, and a big Tom Hardy fan, so I'm leaning toward the former.

Back from Kansas City. We saw Holland Oates. Pretty badass show. It even featured an epic sax man.

Packing for what?

I'd vote for Lawless.

Damn, I didn't know they were still doing concerts.

I found a minty Cannondale 3.0 (Criterium?) bicycle on Craigslist for $200, but the frame size is too large for me.
Arrrggg cruel world!
