Yeah, I'm sad about Futurama. I want more. It was just getting so good.

If they can keep Simpsons fans entertained for seasons upon seasons of meh, then why can't we have the same with our favorite? I haven't seen all the newer ones yet...

my buddy's gf watches them, and even plays he app game. then there's the real housewives of whatever s*** city. we give her unrelenting grief over it. i even turned on her game on her tablet and completely destroyed her progress. how? i haven't the slightest idea, but it pissed her off and that made me happy.

She says she watches it so she doesn't have to focus. Real shows with overlapping plot lines are hard to follow. I just sit down and put my headphones on if it's on.

My wife doesn't watch stupid crap like the Bachelor, but she still has her share of dumb shows she likes to watch. She's into these "reality" cooking shows now too, which are extremely dumb but I tolerate them. Then she watches stuff like Hart of Dixie, Jane the Virgin, and Mom right now. All which bore me to tears and make me groan endlessly.

I usually tolerate a couple of them a week though, because then I can usually convince her to watch Top Gear, Street Outlaws, and Fast 'N Loud with me.

Tolerating her shows doesn't really have much effect on my chances. Some shows just get her "interested" a little quicker than others :naughty:

Gawd. Thats awful.Thank her for not making you watch 2 Broke Girls. THOSE GIRLS ARE TOO f*** STUPID TO BE ABLE TO CONVERSATE LIKE THAT IN REAL LIFE.

(thankfully she doesn't watch that)

However, have you had to watch the self-centered **** that is The Mindy Project?

New Girl is fine.

My one "significant other veto" is Mindy Project. f***, I hate that show. s*** plot. s*** acting. s*** writing. That chick is never going to be as hot s*** as she makes herself out to be.

Worse yet, her biography is on our bookcase all the sudden.

Her veto is Justified. The only episodes she really saw were the season openers from last year with Darryl Crowe and the Hatian. Her view of the show is that "its rednecks trying to out redneck each other."
I, on the other hand, think it is one of the best shows on television. Fantastic plots, loads of plot lines, good character development, fantastic actors, and really pulls emotion from you while you watch it.
What really astounds me is the large team of writers they have for the show.

I hope we see Duffy come into the mix heavily for this last season.

How about lets not talk about TV. That's all anyone blabs about anymore.

If I wanted that, I could listen in on 1000 other mindless office conversations while I was at work. Ugh.

Geez Dave. Someone needs to give you a hug.

Ray, my wife doesn't love Justified but she does watch it with me every week. I totally agree that it's a very well put together show though. It's easily one of my favorites. Probably the only other show I feel like is put together that well is The Blacklist. That show is cast unbelievably well.

So I put speakers in my kitchen.

Bose 4.2's. These things are STUPID loud, with great sound quality. I'm so excited it turned out so well.

I ran the wires through speaker terminals up through the wall and put em on top of the cabinets. I think by the time it's said and done, I'll have the ultimate party house. I'll have speakers in the den, kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom, garage, and porch. I think I may have a problem.

Holy crap man. That's some serious surround sound. Matt has an insane amount of audio stuff in his house too. His system in his basement could bring down the entire neighborhood I think.

I don't have nearly as much as I used to. I got rid of my 5.1 THX system I had hooked up to my desktop PC and went down to a Logitech 2.1 system. Heck, I even pulled the 7.1 system out of the living room and switch to a Yamaha wireless soundbar.

Yeah, I just realized I basically said i'm old :frown:

You're a real sweet-heart, thanks.

I want to go on record saying that there is no such thing as a happy home-maker. Only a bored one.
I spectate on your average wifey out in the real world (consumers with more money than sense, mostly), and I'm wondering how seriously some people can take that drivel they call reality TV seriously. It's a religion with most, which makes me think hard about religion also. I guess it's okay for people to be stupid and mindless because they saw others being that way on the tube, right?

I can see the end of TV soon. And no, I'm not directing this at everyone. I just happen to be around the worst of them all the time, so yeah...

I think I'm going hiking this weenend.

Happy to prove you wrong Dave!

Firstly, being a SAHD doesn't leave a whole lot of time for boredom. Unless you're a POS parent...which needs to be said. Bad days for me involve not being able to do what I want and instead playing with miles of orange race track, matchbox and hotwheels, block towers and army bases, airsoft and lately we've been having fun with kitchen hockey. When I do laundry I drink beer and watch Netflix, usually stand-up comedy or syfy. When I clean the house I listen to loud music and play air guitar etc. I carry a Nerf gun at all times because my boys ambush me randomly. They're getting good too.

When I do get time to myself I have a million things I need to do just for myself. I have 4 cars, one of them is always hard broke and one of them usually has some sort of light illuminated on the dash

On days when I do catch myself feeling depressed I go out in the backyard and shoot 2 liter bottles of orange and grape soda. Then a I sit and clean my gun while listening to wicked loud music and pray for the zombie apocalypse to hurry up and start already. Or I rip through the backroads in the 540i. The 540i in sport mode is a fantastic machine. A metric ton of smooth torque available everywhere. If one of those things doesn't make you happy you might need to make some changes in your life.

I don't watch reality TV, nor does the wifeunit. Unless you count cooking shows like Top Chef and Chopped. We enjoy those type of shows. Along with Big Bang and Blacklist etc.

Anyway, pretty happy stay-at-home-type-person right here Dave.

^Well said Brian. I definitely admire the hell out of you for doing it too.

I tried it myself for a while and I never found myself bored. I always had plenty of stuff to keep me busy, but usually where the "boredom" would come from was trying to avoid tackling certain jobs - AKA laziness. I've gotten a lot better since then with managing my time though and I keep the house pretty tidy during the week. With us both working full time(and the wife also going to school full time) though it's a must. She keeps up with the laundry, then I keep up with everything else for the most part.

I probably won't ever be a full-time stay at home parent, but once the wife finishes school and has been working for a couple of years I will likely transition into working a part-time gig so I can keep up with the kiddos and the house stuff.

When they get hit in the eyes with your dart, do you tell them its just a flesh wound and to get up and return fire?

Thanks dude. I admire the parents that both work full time, juggle school AND find time to have kids. More than my plate can handle...period. I tried working full time and being a parent for a bit, not for me. Working all day and then having to come home to cook/clean/get the kids taken care of etc always ended the same way, with me wanting to dig holes for everyone in the backyard. I'll be bringing in some cash doing "stuff". Maybe painting cars, maybe buy and sell stuff...dunno. No solid plan right now.

Nerf wars are serious business in the Falla household. We ask for no quarter and none will be given!
frapjap wrote:When they get hit in the eyes with your dart, do you tell them its just a flesh wound and to get up and return fire?
It's funny you say that. I can't help it, I naturally aim for the head. Doesn't matter what we're playing with, nerf, airsoft or real firearms I always instinctively aim for the head. The kids have gotten good at wearing helmets and face masks. They both have those face masks you use for paintball. I make them wear them when we're using the airsoft guns. Anyway, they got tired of taking darts to the face and adapted to the situation.

Agreed. There are some days that we both get home from work and have absolutely no desire to do anything but eat dinner and get the kid in bed ASAP just to have some silence. Right now the wife is taking 4 classes, working 12hr days with a 1hr commute each way, and then we're getting ready to move. It does really suck some days, but most of it is not permanent so a lot of relief will come later this year when she's finished with school.

I have a similar train of thought for myself once she's done with school and has been working for a couple of years. Maybe a side business, or something like that then i'll be responsible for the kiddos and house while she works. We've discussed a few different scenarios and we're both fine with the thought of something like that, but i'm perfectly fine continuing to do what i'm doing as well if it doesn't work out.

My ideal would be car detailing and maybe some paintless dent repair, so I could easily do most of my work out of the house.

LOL. The boys don't get to play with the real firearms. I don't own anything kid friendly yet. Lots of time with the airsoft instead. Good for basic safety and training.

We do sweep and clear the house with our Nerf guns though...lol. We're ready for Zombies.

I'd love to see a video of that. Get a couple of web cams and edit that s*** together! Points for the kids aiming and "taking" out" the camera with a nerf dart to conceal their presence.
