Pizza purchased at a gas station is most definitely not pizza

I think you can substitute just about any type of food for "pizza" in that sentence and still be correct.

I just replaced the tie rod ends on the truck and WOW! what a change. It was easy to work on, too. No alignment issues after the fact either...
Now it's not sloppy, the steering is perfect and I can handle bumps and stuff a lot better. A perfect use of an otherwise empty afternoon.

Awesome man!
Nice job eyeballing the tie rods with the old ones to keep the alignment!

Actually, the tie-rod system is so damn clunky on the truck; it has really massive thread gaps. It uses a split, fully threaded coupling with clamps to cinch it down... just had to dribble some penetrating oil in the crack and move the threads back and forth to get it off. Remove end from knuckle, spin end, reattach and eyeball it. It took two times with putting the wheel on temporarily to eyeball it right, but I didn't have to drive it to get it perfect.

I guess I over-simplified it all?

Or a Sheetz or a Royal Farms.

A Shmiscuit or some Baltimore-style fried chicken would really hit the spot right now...

I dig some Sheetz as well. Not too many Royal Farms out this way, can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Sheetz though.

Sheetz kicks a**. We always stop there when we're going to VA. Sadly there's not a single around here.

WAWA is big in PA and central & southern NJ. Their food and coffee actually is pretty good. My little town is supposedly getting a super WAWA (gas + convenience store) soon.

Royal Farms is only around the Baltimore area. It's too bad, because the chicken they have is tasty. They also have a snadwhich ordering station similar to the WaWa thing, and the bread is all fresh.
For brunch on the go most mornings when I'm up around there, I try to find one and get three of the fried chicken sliders with some mayo and a dill slicemhmhmhmh

Morning Ben, how goes it?
Still crazy busy fixing heater cores and the like?

Headed to FL this weekend, though I'd much rather be skiing after the big storm NH and VT got this week!

I despise Florida. I'm pretty sure I could easily go the rest of my life without ever entering that state ever again. Honestly I feel the same about most of GA too though.

i'm looking to get my buddy a timing light for christmas. he's looking at 2 engine swaps in the near future, as well as an ignition upgrade on his ram (just because he has an extra msd box). both the swaps will most likely be running msd's. i keep reading that regular analog timing lights are the only ones that'll work reliably all throughout the rpm range, whereas dial back and digital units will tend to flutter. anyone know more about this, or have a recommendation as to a quality unit that'll work well with msd?

f*** Florida. I hate that its 'home.' My home town is even worse than usual Florida.

In regards to timing guns, this is my favorite one:
http://www.amazon.com/INNOVA-5568-Pro-T ... 8398824383
Image
They make fancier units, but this will do. The best thing about it is the simple clamp on lead and spark advance function. Also does dwell, but I don't know how to use that function. Clamp onto the #1 spark plug wire and you're good to go! It reads super well, but my absolute favorite part is that it displays the tachometer to the nearest 50rpms. SUPER freggin nifty if you're adjusting timing and don't have to go and check the idle in the car. All of the leads are super long (and replaceable if you snag them in the accessory belt or something), the display is lit (use in the dark), and the "barrel" adjusts so it makes it really easy to set somewhere while you turn the distributor or CAS. It will never disappoint. I've had mine for years- a very worthwhile investment over the standard unit on the market.

EDIT: saw that he is using MSD units after the fact. Some guys in the reviews say it doesn't work for MSD, but I had no problems with my T/A running an MSD6A box and this light. But, if you're concerned, go back to basics with a simple light.

Yeah I was gonna recommend one of those too, but I don't have any experience with them. I honestly haven't owned a timing gun in years. I probably need to buy one again sooner or later.

i was actually looking at that same one on amazon. i've found some threads saying that there wasn't an issue with msd, some saying it won't work, others saying there's "flutter" but it was easy enough to read through it.

3,000 trouble free miles since the computer s*** itself in my Legacy. I still have fear every morning I turn the key...

in other news, Florida still sucks. At least it was beautiful out, highs of 68-70 degrees. Everyone there was in sweaters and jackets. I was swimming in the water off Sanibel Island.
