Just passed a gorgeous metallic blue C2 427 following a matching metallic blue C7 on the highway. :naughty:

Life is so much better when you drive a car that makes you smile. I love my LS8 so much. It's a Hell of a lot of fun.

Sorry to hear that Ben. Who pissed in his Cheerios?

Headed down to Georgia tomorrow. Sooooo looking forwards to the heat and humidity (NOT!).

Had a good weekend here. The Miata looks like it'll be sold this Friday.
Going to take a last ditch chance on the Subaru and buy a battery for it and hope that maybe it has a dead cell(s) and doesn't have enough amps to turn over the car before towing it to the dealer. Grrrrrr. I swear, if this car costs me more than $1,500 to fix, that f*** is getting traded in.

Mornin' guys!

I grew up in GA and I despise going to visit there during this time of year. The weather is horrible and the traffic sucks. I wouldn't move back there unless it was absolutely necessary...

Glad to hear the Miata is potentially sold now too. It's a heck of a deal for sure. If I didn't have mine already, I probably would've jumped on buying yours.

Speaking of mine - I threw just a small amount of that Lucas oil stop leak in it and it hasn't leaked a drop of oil on the ground since. I've driven it a few times and ripped on it pretty hard last time I went out in it, but still nothing :gotme

Ray, you know I used to want a Subaru until you and a couple of friends bought them. Now I wouldn't let one anywhere near my driveway :ohno:

In other news, I think we found the house we're going to buy(as long as ours sells in time):

http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhom ... 2592-12472

1.2 acres of land, which is just perfect to me. The lot is beautiful and has tons of space for me to build a shop later, but the only drawback is a one car garage for now. Kristen told me I can buy a carport to hold me over until we can afford to build my shop so i'm good with that.

Holy crap that is an awesome house!!! I bet you could weave the miata through those poles and get it on the opposite side of the door for the winter. Still, that lot is amazing and is unlikely to depreciate. I hope you guys get it- that place is a steal. Is that carpet in the bathroom or blue tile? At least with building a custom shop, it'll be built the way YOU want it. Greg's place looks pretty awesome.

Surprising that the stop leak is holding. Glad that is working out for you so well. I'll keep that in mind for down the road.

The only time I would recommend buying a Subaru is brand new, and if you take care of it yourself. Sometimes you get handed a bad deal and get screwed. s*** happens. Move on. The guy at the dealer called me back and thinks it may just be the immobilizer giving me a hard time since the battery was disconnected for so long. I hope that is all it is! Especially since it was running just fine before I took it all apart and even after I tested the compression.

Yeah i'm not too concerned about the one car garage. I figure i'll just stuff the Miata down there and we'll park outside for now. I've already got a pretty good plan for the shop too, but i'm trying to decide if I want to just buy one of those that they come out and build for you, or build a completely custom one.

If I go custom, i'd like to put another office and bedroom out there for when we need extra space for people to stay. That or we may just build another in-law suite in the back somewhere too. That's why i'm considering just getting a pre-made one, because you can get one for around $6,000-7,000 with two huge roll up doors and 12 ft ceilings. Just toss it on a concrete slab and you're good to go. It obviously won't stay heated and cooled as well as a custom built structure, but I think a metal building would work fine.

I'm surprised the stop leak worked too, because I barely put 1/4 of the bottle in it. I figured if it leaks more oil, i'll just put more in. It's just Lucas anyways, so it's not like it's going to hurt anything. It's funny though... it didn't really start leaking like that until I switched from 10w30 to 5w30. It shouldn't really matter, but when I did it started to leak more.

We almost bought a Subaru when we bought the Kia, but I just didn't have enough confidence in spending that much on a car with a CVT and it's other downfalls. Which honestly is what kept us off of the Nissan lots too. Subaru's are nice looking cars with an awesome AWD system, but otherwise no thanks unless it's a WRX or an old Legacy/Legacy Outback with a manual trans.

FWIW, Lindseys CVT in the Legacy has been awesome for the past 65k miles. It doesn't behave like a b**** in the same way the Nissan one does either and the manual & dealer service dept say that the fluid should not be changed.

I like the idea of the 2 room hotel suite above the garage. It'll be good for some piece and quiet for husband and wife if the kids need sleepovers with their friends. There are plenty of 'build for you' options that on the market that I am a fan of.

I've never driven one, so I can't really say for sure that I would dislike them that much. I just know every other CVT i've driven I hated. Ford ones are worse than Nissan IMHO.

The only thing is I don't know that I want something above the garage, because I want plenty of overhead room for a lift. I'm thinking that i'd rather have them built on the main level of the shop. I also would be fine with just building another place on the property, that way I won't have to worry about noise from the shop.

FWIW, I had suggested adding a living area above our detached garage too, which already has a big area on the second floor, but it got nixed. Of course my suggesting we could have "Inga, the hot Swedish au pair" stay there probably didn't help my case. We left ours strictly as storage, which actually has come in very handy over the years. Don't underestimate the storage space you'll need.

Above the garage storage would be handy for engine builds, you could just make a big hole with a removable piece in the garage ceiling/storage floor and run a chain winch above it... Well, it was a nice idea anyway...

Was in the HOTTEST freggin' plant this week in Georgia. Two oven lines, smoker, and the sun beating on the building did not help things.
Looking forwards to the weekend. Should have the Miata sold.

The Subaru went to the dealer. They call and say that they put 3 hours into it and couldn't find the problem. Eventually found that the computer was fried. Don't know how, don't know why. Don't know if a new one will fix it.
I authorized the purchase of a new ecu and hope that will do the trick. If not, I don't know WTF I'm going to do with this thing. Wish I didn't have a lien on it.

The weather is awesome here right now. It was 60 when I left the house this morning and it's supposed to be in the 70's for the next few days. I love fall weather.

I'm not looking forward to the weekend, because we still have a lot of work to do to the house for photos on Monday. My pressure washer died on me, so it put me behind this week on getting everything cleaned up.

Man that sucks on the Subaru Ray! Hopefully the ECU will fix it.

The Miata still leaks I noticed last night. Doesn't seem as bad, but still leaking. I don't really care though, because until it starts pouring oil i'll keep driving it as is.

Stupid motorized tools! One day when I'm itching to buy something, that purchase will probably be a gas powered pressure washer. Those things kick a**.

Do you have a moving date yet, or are they letting you take your time? What happens with the schooling? Will your wife have to enroll at another college? Bummer on the Miata, but at least the situation has improved.

You're right- beautiful weather. Sunny and 70 here, almost drove past work to take a cruise on the cape. Days like this it would be cool to be a trash man- hanging out on the back of the truck, enjoying the sun shine while getting a million dollar tan.

I won't ever buy a gas pressure washer. They're a pain in the a** and for as little as I use one it's a waste. I always buy nice electric ones and replace them when they die. The last one made it four years.

We can't move until our house sells, but they understand that. I'll work out of my current branch until we get moved. She won't have to change schools because she goes online and the school is the same distance from Louisville as Lexington.

Speaking of tools - I got a sweet deal on a right angle cordless impact driver yesterday. $35 marked down from $90. I'm ecstatic right now.

They may still have them. I got it on Sears.com. It was a Craftsman Nextec branded one. I've been dying to get a right angle one to squeeze into tight spots while working on the car. I'm starting to need less and less air tools and I love it :)

Yeah my company has been pretty cool about the move. Even went ahead and gave me the salary bump before I move too.

I'm proud of her for sure. She works full time and goes to school full time. Oh and puts up with me and the kid too. I have a kickass wife :yesnod

Heck yeah you do.

Saw some top down enjoyment on the bookface. I drove mine today. 44 degrees makes for some awesome acceleration!
This weekends buyer was a no-show despite assuring me over and over that he'd be there. Go figure, thats what CL will get you. I'm going to list it on Ebay this week if no hits come by Thursday.

The Subaru ended up costing me $1006. The ECU failed (somehow?). A new unit and the car works. However, the rpm's are hanging ever so slightly after changing gears or revving in neutral with and without the clutch engaged. The computer could just be learning since its unlikely to be the clutch. Might be vacuum related, but if I hadn't been ALL OVER that engine the past few months, I'd think that, too. But, with that LKQ junkyard engine in the car, I'm just not thrilled with it right now. The weird compression of 180 across 3 cylinders and 1 at 205 still persists though the head was flat and the gasket is new. Leakdown doesn't show anything wrong, either.

I'm really understanding how Chris felt about his bad luck and cars. I just want one that works and doesn't surprise me with unexpected expenses and issues. Been actively shopping for a base model Civic since Saturday. Best quote I've received so far is 16,335. Not shabby. If one of the dealers can get it into the 15 and pay off my current lein and not roll it into the new loan, I'm just going to pull the trigger and be goddamned done with it.
