If you don't need the money for something Ben, don't let that S14 go for anything less than what you want. They're only going to appreciate in value.

I don't foresee them appreciating that much in the near future, as Nissan sold thousands of them. I think a bigger question might be how long you're willing to wait to find someone that's willing to pay your price.

And just to clarify, Tita's talking about pics of your GF's boobs, not yours. :)

I rarely ever see S14s around, but S13s are more common. But by "common" I don't mean I see one every day even, of either! I think the herd has been thinned out enough now that they can hold value nicely...

Unfortunately, his inability to find someone to willing to buy it at his asking price suggests otherwise.

Demand and value aren't necessarily the same thing, though.

^Ditto.

I think his asking price is quite fair on it as well. I rarely see an S14 and especially one that well cared for.

The only problem I see is most people that want it aren't going to have the cash money sitting around to buy it in most cases. It's tough selling vehicles like this, because most people that are able to spend that kind of cash on something are in the market for something else. I think they will start shooting up in value even more though, because less and less of clean ones will be available.

I have a buddy selling a super clean KA-T S14 that he's spent a ton of money on, but to me is no better than Ben's car aside from paint. He's asking $9,250 for it and that much I do think is a bit outrageous.

It's funny to me that my brain thinks of the S14 as fat, when 2800lb is considered impressively light by today's standards. Of course, it's largely just the styling that makes me think "fat". Like all mid-90s Nissans, they just look obese. The sharper edges on the kouki help with that a bit, but the midsection doesn't lose its love handles.

Agreed. As a S14 owner, I have always thought they looked better in a muscle car trim. Not slammed and "stanced" with whatever body kit.

Like Ivans S14.

Howdy fellas.
Looks like lots going on here! Bummer on the car sale so far, Ben. But congrats on getting yourself a lady to go out on the town with.

I have a couple more bites to fulfill on the Miata myself, but after they come, on Ebay it goes.

We went out to the Berkshires in MA this past weekend through yesterday. Hiked the largest mountain in MA. Went to this awesome place called Ramblewild. Its like a tree to tree obstacle course- freggin awesome. We had it to ourselves for about an hour and a half, too. Image

got a question on a mil code that i can't shake. i got rid of it once, but it came back. vehicle is 2001 explorer sport, code p0442 (small leak in evap system detected). i replaced the canister vent solenoid (a suggestion after some googling) and it disappeared for a couple of months. i did a scrap run and had the rear end dragging a** big time, and the code came back up. i never bothered with it since because it doesn't affect any driveabililty. the mil light actually burned out because it's been on for so long :chuckle: . i'll be up for emissions this winter and i'd like to take care of it before it gets too cold to want to work on it. any ideas?

ray, where was that tree course? it looks like a lot of fun.

Tito, the easiest thing to do would be to throw a gas cap on the Exploder. It is going to be kind of hard to pinpoint it without a smoke machine.According a search on Identifix there has been problems with all sorts of s*** on that vehicle.I would get underneath it and make sure you didn't tear anything up.

What is Identifix? Is it like a shortcut for looking at specific problems by make/model old to new?

i'll give the gas cap a whirl, it's cheap enough. but aside from this one pesky code, everything that's gone bad has been regular things that are expected to go. since i got it all i've done has been regular maintenance, brakes, sway bar bushings and end links, shocks, one injector, one valve cover gasket, and that's about it. i just rolled over 200k last week and it's still going strong, and i'm pretty hard on it.

f***.

Had a buyer coming today to get the Miata and was going to drive it home. I went to go get a tank of gas for him as a nice thing to do for driving about 2 hours and the f*** thing starts making a smoke screen that James Bond would be proud of at anything over half throttle.
It did just have an oil change, but I'm guessing that this isn't a coincidence. It still runs fine and is building & holding boost, but its building slowly. I'm guessing the head gasket is going. I'll have to compression test it to see if I can learn anything there.
I'm much closer to being done with working on cars than I was when the Subaru s*** all over the floor.
At least this car is MUCH easier to work on.

I think if you describe your old job as a p0rn fluffer as an "augmentation" manager, you'll be fine. ;)

I just saw on the news that Tony Stewart was cleared by the Grand jury. It also came out that Ward's toxicology report came back that he was high on pot at the time of his death. Whoa.

Yeah I saw the news about Stewart before I left the office. Glad everything worked out for him. It's really a shame that Ward already looked very careless without the toxicology results, but now it makes the situation look even worse for his side.

Oh and BTW - Happy Birthday Joel!
