I cook all of our turkeys on the grill. Pour olive oil on it, close the lid and walk away. Baste every thirty minutes until golden brown. It tastes amazing.

What've you been up to lately? Still at the nuke plant or working for yourself entirely now?

once i make some more room in the garage, i'm planning on building a work bench in the back corner, there's currently a lounge area there now. then in can permanently mount my grinder and vice. the welder has seen some use already, as did the sawz-all and new jack.

i haven't been to the nuke plant since last fall. i got the shaft at going back in the spring (union political b/s), so i picked up another estimating job. i did that for 6 months then quit for a different job that i just started week #3 today.

i have missed the good times, unfortunately life still has me in a weird place and i don't get as much time to enjoy the things i once used to as often. but things have been looking up as of late, hopefully it's a continuing trend.

Awesome man! Sounds like a whole helluva lot of ups and downs. Glad to hear that you think its trending in the right direction. I've been wanting a vice really REALLY badly lately. Should ask for one for christmas. Sawzalls are the s***.

On a random note- anyone ever had ear canal blockages? Any home remedies to use as a solution vs going to the doc? I've heard (don't laugh too hard!) using a douche with water & peroxide a few times a week to loosen it up. Anyone with experience in this one?

no personal experience, but i did end up in that strange part of youtube not too long ago and ended up watching ear blockage extractions. all the docs did, aside from eventually digging out the shiz manually, was douche the canal with peroxide. i've always been interested in the candle deals, but haven't come across them yet, and i'm not ambitious enough to search them out.

Afternoon guys.

A Sawzall is a must. I have a cordless one, but I really need to buy a corded one. Next up on my list is a welder though.

As for ear blockages Ray, I get them fairly often and the SUCK. They have been so bad that i've had to go to the doc and get them to flush my ears out, then dig out the impacted wax.

Usually what i've found works best is to get some good mineral oil ear drops then an ear irrigation kit. It's the same idea as you mentioned, but it's designed to flush out your ear. Also, take lots of advil or ibuprofen. It'll help ease the pain and reduce the swelling to let everything break loose.

i really want a cordless impact wrench, but it's not a high priority right now. i need some shop lights next, and a good impact driver.

Yeah a cordless impact is on the list too. Honestly i'm trying to get away from air tools as much as possible right now, just so I can avoid firing up the loud a** compressor after midnight for something silly.

that's precisely why i want one. well not necessarily the after midnight part, but i don't want to have to turn on the compressor every time i need to pull a wheel or two off.

What type of blockage do you have? The external or the internal one? If it's internal you need to use a neti pot bottle and add nose drops into it, then purposely flush your nose with a little pressure on it and follow up with a valsalva maneuver. It will take time to remove the blockage any way you do, tho.

Wow guys, thanks for all of the suggestions. I'm going to try the syringe and peroxide thing for a couple of days. Thanks for the Ibuprofen tip, too. If that doesn't work, its neti pot time.
Its likely an internal blockage. Lots of ear plug wearing coupled with horrendous allergies this year is my guess.

I just GOT an an compressor from James. Said its stuck on high psi (90) and isn't adjustable. Is that a problem at all, really? (honest question)

Yeah I have dealt with the blockages and infections in my ears a lot. It sucks, but now since i've learned enough about dealing with them I don't have problems as much.

90 psi is high? I run mine at 120-130 psi at all times.I've had it for 8-9 years and have never had an issue with it, or haven't adjusted it.

Ray - the best thing I have ever found for clogged ears is peroxide / irrigation to break up and remove the junk and Sweet Oil to help soothe the pain and help fight the infection. (When you go to the doctor's office, the solution they use to break up the wax is peroxide and distilled water. )

I'm surprised about how widespread this problem is for folks. Kinda glad, too since its relatively easy to treat. I didn't get a syringe type applicator at the store. All they had was douches and I thought one might work until I opened the box. Looks like one of those things you force feed children liquid medicine or an eye dropper are what I'm going to have to pick up at CVS.
