nissangirl74 wrote:Greg and I watched the game. It was probably one of the best of the season, IMO. I hate the Patriots so I was VERY pleased with the outcome. To me, the call was controversial but I heard the interview Brady gave and he admitted that it was on him, that his throw was bad. He was trying to make sure that he didn't throw it over the receiver's head and he screwed up. I was really surprised me said it.
The ball was DEFINITELY unable to have been caught by Gronk.

The last 59 seconds the Pats became the 2010 Pats and marched up the field to the 25. With 6 seconds left in the game, Gronk ran a route for the TD, but didn't get the catch. He was literally wrapped up by a Panther defender. A flag was thrown, but then canceled. Naturally, this pissed off the Pats (and their fans). The ball wouldn't have been caught anyway, penalty or not- hence why it was thrown out and the game ended.

Talib was a GIGANTIC ***hole and was trying to fight Steve Smith all night. Bellick benched his a** twice and ultimately stopped playing him. Talib's attitude and penalties alone gave Carolina O 45 yards last night.

Cam Newton and the Carolina D played a HELL of a game. They didn't pressure Brady a ton, instead opting to give him very few long throws- all short passing yardage. Carolina sacked him good three times. Cam's running game (67 yards!) saved my Fantasy team from certain demise. He's a hell of a player, I'm a big fan.

If he were any other QB with the same stats and no running, I would've lost this week. I'm 10-1 now!

We had to have PMI on our home loan. I cancelled it as soon as it was possible to. (IIRC, I had to pay it for the first 2 years) Also note, that unless you contact your lender to cancel it, they will usually continue to charge for it.

Was it tax deductible?

I believe PMI is only deductible if your annual income is below a certain level, like $100K. I think we had PMI on our loan too, as we put down less than 20%. I think we also ended up dumping it at first opportunity, which didn't take that long.

Yes, you're right about the income earning stipulation. Had to check that out. We definitely (hopefully) won't qualify for writing it off in the future.

Seems that it can almost be financially smarter to take the PMI in the short term than put down more cash. However, more cash means less interest, blah blah blah, but at the end of the day, coming up with 30-40,000 bucks and still having a rainy day fund for the incidentals after you drop all of that cash on a home is a hell of a task. Home ownership the old way is long dead. Thanks, inflation, over valued assessment, and loose money from the early 2000's.

Morning guys.

Does anyone know how to make a bubble flare for a brake line? I'm reading that it can be done on the typical flaring tool, but that you should use the first half of the flaring procedure on the FLAT side of the tool. Is that accurate?

Long time Brian, WHASSUP?

Giving up on the brakes. I can't flare the steel brake line that is already on the car because the cheap rent-a-tool keeps pushing the line down past the tool when I go to flare it. I'd buy a more expensive tool, but its probably just cheaper to give it to the guys next door since I've already invested so much of my time into this one. Leaving it to the professionals.

Now, do I wait until tomorrow, or hope the guy isn't hung over today. Ben, are you hung over today? :p

Afternoon guys!

Hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving! We had to wait until today to celebrate this year since the wife had to work yesterday and family is elsewhere this year. I'm frying up a small bird this afternoon for the three of us.

Ray, yeah I hate screwing with brake lines. I usually let a professional deal with them too.

I'm trying to figure out why the Miata is idling high right now. It's idling around 1,800 rpms and won't go below about 1,300. It just started doing it all of a sudden in the past couple of weeks. Runs and drives fine, just wants to idle high. I checked for vacuum leaks, pulled off the throttle body and cleaned it along with the idle control motor and intake. No change though.

I brined the turkey with a special mix this year and it activated my gout tendencies to the point both feet feel like they're over-inflated balloons now, but it was totally worth it. That btich was delicious as hell. Not much leftovers means everyone else agreed! That makes a chef feel good, man!

Ours turned out excellent. I brined it and then injected a butter creole marinade in it, then fried it. It was absolutely delicious, but sadly we have a ton of leftovers since it was just us and the little one eating. No complaints there though. I never get tired of Thanksgiving leftovers.

Agreed. Everything tastes better the next day, IMO. I told Greg next year that I was going to cook everything on Wednesday and stick it in the fridge til the next day. :D

Not many leftovers here, but I made a big turkey. Brined for 12 hrs, and smoked for 8. Soooooo goood. Not a dry piece of meat on there.

Only 12? We were advised to do at least 18 hours for a 15 pounder. And that's a medium-sized bird... I wish I had a smoker!

I only brined mine for aboout 3 hours this year. It was fairly small though so I didn't want to overdo it.

I will have nothing to do with a smoked bird after buying this thing:

Comes out just like a fried turkey, is extremely juicy, and tastes amazing. Spent $90 on it two years ago and i've used it every single year. It has beat out my mother-in-laws turkey recipe every single year hands down and that's saying a lot.

It's called an oil less turkey fryer, but I consider it more of a roaster. You coat the turkey in oil and spices before putting it in and it fries it in around 4 to 6 hours. Cleanup is very easy and it runs on propane.

You can cook more than turkey in it too. You can cook 4 full slabs of ribs in it, whole chicken, pork roast, ect.

Honestly, I've gone as little as 8 and as much as 18 and never been able to tell a difference. It might be due to the smoker I'm using. This is my grill/smoker;
Image

They're a bit expensive, but I got mine for WAY less than that. If you work someplace that sells them, Traeger will sell you ONE grill (for your whole life) at cost. I actually paid less for the grill than my former employee was paying for the same grill.

Some ppl talk crap on them, but EVERY time I cook ANYTHING on it for other ppl, I get a bunch of compliments on the food.
