^Ditto.

I spent $0 on the original ring in the beginning, because her parents insisted on using her moms ring. I just bought her a new ring last year though and it's freakin awesome. Cost? $500. Black and white diamonds in a white gold band.

Our wedding cost about $3,500-4,000. It helps a lot if you call in favors and have family help out though.

So I do agree with Bex there. Getting married shouldn't cost a fortune and you shouldn't go into debt for one day. It can be special without taking out a second mortgage.

Mornin' guys. I hate allergies.

At least i'm not the only one. Apparently our VP has been hit pretty hard by the allergies as well. We both were miserable during our branch meeting this morning.

I got about 4 1/2 hours sleep last night, because I was woken up by my nose literally pouring like a faucet. I couldn't get it to stop long enough for me to go back to sleep, so I just gave up and got up early. I imagine by the the 4pm rolls around i'm going to be lucky to be able to drag myself to the car.

Known debts are the Subie and your student loans. Both have to be paid off and getting rid of the Subie is not an option. You live in an area where it snows a**-deep to a giraffe every year, you gotta have it.

The T/A and the Miata are both paid for and are cheap to drive and maintain. They aren't costing you anything and you get enjoyment out of them both.

As far as buying a ring, paying for a wedding, and buying a house: none of that HAS to cost a fortune. You don't NEED to spend $4,000 on a ring. You don't NEED to spend $10,000 to get married. You don't NEED a $250,000 house. (I'm just throwing numbers out here. They don't reflect specifics). Therefore, you shouldn't NEED to sell the stuff that you own and enjoy in order to buy other stuff. Also take into account that other than the ring, your future wife will be paying for the wedding and the house too. It's not like you're going to get married and then she all of a sudden quits her job. With two incomes, there is no reason at all that you can't have a nice wedding, a nice house, and three cars.

HOWDY everyone.
Becky, you're right. Thankfully she doesn't want an expensive ring, as in diamonds are out because of the negative stigma attached to them. Good for me, good for the world. Either way, I've already started to put a small pot away for that rose gold, solitary clear sapphire in a round bezel. Wedding can be reasonable, most certainly. I really lucked out and got the right woman for me. She likes to do things on the cheap, is always out for a deal, and while it would be a wedding, its also a party & celebration. I'm sure it'll still be nice and a little extra attention will be put on some aspects, but thats a-okay. You'll have to meet her sometime if you and Greg travel this way. Hopefully its before the marriage, haha.
You're right on the two incomes, sometimes I forget that part...

Did someone change my avatar back to the unicorn farting rainbows again? If not, I could use a new mod inspired avatar since I'm seriously clueless on how to do my own.

Also- being VA, I've got no allergies at the moment :gapteeth: Also saw the endurance flight record setting SR-71 at the Richmond Aviation Museum. Can't wait to post some photos later on.

No, I carefully selected a unicorn avatar for Brian and he didn't like it :frown:

My allergies are terrible regardless of where i'm at. I've had issues with allergies all of my life, but it is odd for them to flare up this much in the fall.

This SR-71?

Went there last year actually and took a ton of pics. Pretty cool museum.

My allergies are suddenly (Tuesday, out of nowhere) kicking my a**. Fortunately Claritin works wonders, lasts all day, and doesn't make me tired. At night I just pop a couple benadryl for the double bonus of helping me relax.

I'm off to bed, too, but fortunately the tough part of my week is well behind me. Tomorrow should be Easy Mode. Which is how all Fridays should be.

Nice! Hill Aerospace Museum in Layton (where I used to live) has an SR-71c (actually the only c) on display. They also have an engine out of its cowl nearby for viewing. Very cool.

Sweet! The turbine hanging out must be really neat to take a peek at. There is a 'prototype engine' that would have been used to make Mach 3, but the project died. It might have been one of the engines, but it wasn't labeled as such.

Either way, those planes are absurd. The top speed never even being released is insane, too. Its always listed as Mach 3.2+++
Coast to coast in an hour and two minutes is nothing to mess with. I wonder what the ground looks like at that speed...

Morning folks!

Have you tried Allegra-D? It was the only thing that worked for me when I lived back east. Take one with a cup of coffee and you'll be wigging like a crack addict. You can lots of stuff done AND your head is clear as a bell. Good stuff. :D

It doesn't do squat for me. It did when I was younger, but not so much now.

I usually take Zyrtec, but right now it's not working. I may end up having to go back on a prescription allergy med if this doesn't get better soon. Apparently it's going around though, so i'm not the only one having issues here right now.

It's bad here too as well. The changing of the seasons makes everyone miserable, I think. I had heard somewhere that your body gets "sued to" allergy meds and it's good to mix them up. Allegra one year, Claritin the next, Zyrtec...etc. are you one of those that is allergic to everything or do certain things seem to flare your symptoms?

Holydamn. College semester starts Monday, so all the students arrived suddenly today. I went to see a friend play (music) at a local spot...traffic was HORRENDOUS. Then I made the mistake of going to Walmart to pick up some handsoap. HOLY CRAP THAT PLACE WAS PACKED. Kids with their parents buying them dorm furniture and food.

We had that about three weeks ago when 80,000 students descended on Tempe to fill ASU. I am SO glad we do not live in that part of the Valley.

Usually it's pollen, ragweed, and cat hair that gets me the worst. Dust gets me sinuses flared up, but it usually goes away once I get away from it. It almost always leads to me getting 2-3 colds during the spring and fall/winter.

I'm taking Sudafed right now and it's been helping. I only usually take it for sinus pressure, but it's been doing a lot better than the Zyrtec, so i've been taking it a couple of times a day to help me get some relief.

I suppose I am. Kind of blah today...got a big move coming. I hate moving. In the last 20 years I've moved 8 times. God willing this will be the last one.

I am looking forward to having my own workshop for the first time though. A good and proper workshop. That thought does brighten my mood quite a bit :)

Hows that old MR2 doin?

I hate moving too.I have been in my house now for about 13 years, thinking about selling it and heading west.

The MR2 is doing good, just had a new windshield installed, makes the old car look a whole lot better.I think i may show the paint a little love this weekend, the weather is great right now!

I've always wanted one. I'd take a Gen1, but I'd love a Gen2 GT-S.
