Morning!

At least its just a blown fuse- thats an easy fix. What kind of beer did you drink lots of?

I couldn't see your project pictures here, but good to hear some folks on this board are working on projects.

Mornin' Gents!

Well looks like I get to go car shopping again today. The Five Hundred ended up turning into a huge pile of fail, so I made the dealer finally agree to give me my money back and let me get a different vehicle.

Ray - you'll probably be happy to hear that one of the vehicles on the list is an '05 Subaru Legacy Outback. That's the one i'm highly considering getting at this point.

I have, Ray; kinda. I built a remote-controlled airplane, but never went out and bought an engine or a remote.

Hey, anyone here ever worked on the front rotors of a D21 pickup? They look like they're the "trapped" style. Ugh, I really didn't want to have to remove the wheel bearings and everything...

What went to hell on the 500?

I am glad to hear you're going to check out a Legacy. It should really suit your needs quite well.

I have not, but my T/A is that way. Just put in new bearings while you're at it, theyre like $12/ea.

I've had it two weeks and have had the following happen:

-Throttle Body Control Motor - Left me stranded 2 days after buying it. They footed the towing bill and replaced the part at $800
-Power Steering noise - Flushed and refilled with synthetic fluid by them
-Transmission Flush - done by them, transmission was slipping
-Rear Brakes and Rotors - I asked them to check them and they ignored them. Then it ruined the rotors.
-Rear Brake Caliper - Seized up after they did the brake job. Car smelled like it was on fire after driving it one evening.
-Power window switches all failed at once
-Gauges started flickering - common issue, bad cluster. $200-600 to replace.
-Creaking coming from front end.

This all developed over 2 weeks time. I basically told them the car was garbage and I expected them to take it back, because it was unsafe to drive for how much money I paid. I won in the end thankfully. I was worried I was gonna get stuck with it.

The Subaru is an '05 Legacy Outback 4cyl. I would've preferred an XT, but it's not necessary for a daily driver.

Four. Freakin. Weeks.

And then I go to China for a month, study for the NYS Bar in the seclusion of our new apartment, then fly back, and study in the seclusion of my old apartment while recovering from jet lag, then sit for the NYS Bar, then fly back to China and use my law school education the way Mitt Romney did.

Take lots of pics of China dude. I have been to most of Asia, never China though. China and Vietnam are on my must visit list. Good luck on the tests!

Thanks! Just got a stern talking to from my faculty advisor on my paper. That'll teach me for writing in a week what I was supposed to do in two months.

My give-a-hoot is starting to run dry, this close to the end.

The 2.5 should be fine, too.

Bummer to hear about all of those things that went wrong on such a new car. Very lucky for you that they took it back. Then again, they had to considering you bought the warranty from them. I usually advise against private party dealership warranties because they don't usually hold up their end, but its good to hear that you had a positive experience. Is the Legacy from the same folks, or will you buy private party since you have cash now (do you?) instead of a loan?

What the hell is in China? I also don't get the joke- I'm not very in tune with politics.
Are you moving to China for good? I must've missed something you talked about before.

I have a job in China; going to be working on a joint venture with a German company, so I'll probably be doing a lot of traveling back and forth (because Chinese citizens need a visa to travel to Germany, but Americans don't) between the two. I don't know how long I'll be there. Could be for a few years, but we'll see.

And Mitt Romney has a law degree from Harvard, if I'm not mistaken, but he never practiced law. Wasn't making a political joke, just a law school joke.

These mid-shift work sessions are going to kill me. I'm literally getting ill all the time, I had two sinus infections and numerous stomach problems...

Anyone else hate winter because it makes you ill? I may have to move to somewhere else to preserve my health.
