My experience has shown them to be more reliable... I thought that was part of the whole point!
Depends on the array. If you're going for improved speed, raid 0 is what you want. In this case, if either one of the drives fails, you lose everything. This makes it 50% less reliable than an individual drive. Now, if you want more security, you'll go for something like a raid 1 which would be more than double the reliability as the only way you get in trouble is if both drives fail at the SAME time.

Lou explained the trim thing well. But it's a bit more important that defragging. In the SSD world, the drive slows over time with read/write cycles (based on the way data is managed). Trim basically prevents this from happening. Without Trim support, one would have to format far more often to keep speeds from falling off. Additionally, speeds on non-Trim drives may fall by an order of magnitude or more. Lack of defragging rarely causes this much of a performance hit.

4inch diameter PVC pipe from a hardware store
+
yoga mat, camping sleeping bag roll, any kind of thin foam insulation
=
back roller of awesomeness

also, sit up straight when you are sitting. make a conscious effort of this or you'll slouch, prolonging the healing process.

This is going to get some comments ROFL, but i like this stretch for lower back....

(just alternate legs, increase speed as you feel looser, its a good warm up technique, I like to aim my foot to hit my hand keeping a 90degree at the armpit, def not something i could hit at first though, took some work on flexibility)

I still don't agree with this - in essence, you've created a roller, but you also have not given any stress relief to the roller - at the core, it is a hard object. The foam rollers you buy from stores have built in stress relief becuase they are not solid cores...you shouldn't be really using solid core items on your body, as your body is not solid either.

Just my .02...

thats what the foam is for though, it creates a softer layer between you and the hard PVC, its a lot like a deep tissue message int he fact that it hurts a good amount while in the act, but once you stop you feel like a million bucks. <shrug> to each their own though, it works for me :gotme

EDIT: you may have misunderstood my vague description, sorry, i meant it to imply that I wrap the PVC with the foam

IMPORTANT:
DO NOT ROLL FLAT ON YOUR SPINE!!!! THAT IS BAD!!!!

ALWAYS lean to one side and target it specifically, never put all your weight on your lower spine. THAT IS BAD. VERY BAD. Lean off to the side, you have to do right/left side separately.

also, ice ice ice. and anti-inflamatory if your not going to be working out. I dont like being on meds during workouts, if something hurts, i need to be able to feel it. so like... pop an aleve after ur workout, or in the morning on an off day.

Yea, been doing that since I woke up. Shrink wrapped an ice pack to my back. SO cold, but feels so unbelievable good.

I'm also gonna go to home depot today and pick up some things to build a pull up bar in my back yard. I can't do kipping on that iron gym.

I try not to take pain meds. They generally don't do anything for me anyways. I became mostly immune to them when I was on them for my knee. It takes a LOT to actually do anything for me.

Do you remember who you're talking to? I build cabinets all day, every day. I know how to make things sturdy. I'm not gonna half-a** this. It will be concreted into the ground.

no no, there is a diff between anti-inflammation and pain killers, i'm talking bout anti-inflammation. and i knw where your coming from, but the one med i do take is AI's, they really really help when used properly. it doesnt mask the pain, it actually reduces swelling.

That's why I meant that the PVC pipe thing is bad.

On a normal foam roller, the foam gives and conforms to your back, allowing you to roll normally.
