I'd try another combo switch first. I think there is another connection somewhere in the device? Maybe I'm wrong, but I have a hunch...

They have 3 things in there.
Image
The stalk prongs chill inbetween the 3 prongs you see there, then they move about and touch the one in the middle or one of the outer ones.

I had the harness plugged into the unit and touched those prongs.
I'll try a new switch if I can't figure it out, I'll have time to go to the junkyard on the weekend.

Thanks Dave!

Also, pull out and check the switch that goes to the hazards. The leads that go to the turn signals run though there, and might cause a problem too.

Alright.
I'll be able to double check everything when I take the interior apart again.

Hey, and if all else fails, look for the flasher unit. Its a little black box to the left of the steering column, I believe. Has three contacts coming out of it.

Is that the little relay thing that clicks when you signal?
It clicks when I turn on the hazards, but the signal light parts could be fuxx0red.

If I can make sense of this crazy diagram, I'll whip out my multimeter and see where the power isn't going

In all fairness, it's probably one of the other two. You can check the hazard switch right now, at least. I know for a fact that the signals won't work if that has a problem, it has happened to me.

Good ish Dave!
I took the thing apart to see wtf wasn't making contact, turns out one spring loaded plate thing wasn't touching two of the connectors together, worked fine when I touched them together with my car key.

Time to get this thing working properly again.

Thanks Dave! You're my favorite electrician!
If we ever meet, I'll buy you a burger or something. :D

That's cool. Nissan needs to come up with a better way to make hazards come on, tho. It's happened on the S12 also...

Yeah, I'd think they'd figure out a better way to make the signal lights work without routing it through that hazard switch.
Oh well, it's easy enough to get to!

Thanks again Dave!

Seriously, don't you have the car's only natural predator there too?
