For some reason, I really want one of these, or a kindle. I know it's kind of stupid considering I can get books at the library for free and it's not like there are a shortage of computers in the house. What are the pros and cons and would you advise someone to make the purchase?

I would agree with most of it. It really is a luxury device. For much less price, a netbook can basically beat it performance-wise. What you're really paying for is the form-factor. That's about it...
