Since i came up with the wood stove idea the control arm bushings have been the easiest ones yet.

Im trying to find a heat source that is comparable to the wood stove. Obviously i cant put my rear hubs in a wood stove. Benzomatic isnt hot enough to melt the rubber out. I need to track down an acetylene torch, using that on a low setting would be perfect.

Today my bushings came in from JSC Speed. They seemed to have the lowest prices and called me the next morning to let me know the black was on 2 weeks back order but red could be sent out that morning. I told him to stay with the black. Customer service was awesome and i highly recommend them.

Image

I accidentally ordered 2 rack and pinion bushing sets for an S14 so if anybody wants to pay for shipping they can have the other one. They are only 7 dollars but if you want to save a few bucks i can ship you mine.

Ordered my wheels and conversion brake lines along with some gaskets on Tuesday from enjuku and got a crazy good price. If anyone is looking for sportmax XXR wheels i suggest you give them a call. Got 4 wheels and my other stuff for 620 shipped which was 65 dollars less than most places were charging for just the wheels shipped.

***UPDATE***

Today my wheels came in from Enjuku. Not the best wheels ever but they will let me get wider tires on for more grip which was the goal and i kinda like them. Unfortunatly i cant test fit them yet cause i still have all the suspension off.

Yea...the wheels aren't the best but they beat stock and they look much better. Good choice on the color. I think it will look nasty on the car. What size and offset are the wheels?

***UPDATE***

Today i got all the differential, subframe, and front control arm bushings in. It was pretty easy once you burned out all the old rubber. I found that a cutting torch on a low setting works awesome.

Image

Image

Differential bushings in...These were a little tricky but if you use a threaded bolt you can get them in. There is a thread out there on it just search around.
Image

As you can see there is alot more meat on these than the stock
Image

And the front control arm bushings
Image

And finally i got my conversion brake lines and gaskets in from enjuku today.

18x8.5 +30 on the front and 18x9.5 +25 on the rear.

I dont know the total because i ordered some other stuff with it but i was quoted 119.99 and 129.99 respectively before the discount and shipping. Like i said before i paid 620 shipped for everything including my brake lines and gaskets and thats 65 dollars less than i could find anywhere else for just the wheels. And thats from enjuku.

****UPDATE****

The other day i got my lower ball joints and tie rod ends in. I cleaned everything up with some degreaser and put the front back together so i could see the front wheel fitment. I wanted to see if i needed spacers or not. I have pics of the fitment at the end of the post.

The steering rack cleaned up and installed...
Image

And since im not doing a RHD conversion i installed it the right way before i put it on the car haha.
Image

New ball joints nothing to exciting
Image

Image

An easy way to get the ball joints in the control arms. Take a piece of pipe and cut it so its alittle below the threads of the ball joint. And stick some washers on it and your done.
Image

Image

Image

Image

Heres the wheels on with the Z32 upgrade on. Everything lines up but i think i will still need a 5 or ten mm spacer for the front.
Image

Top view as you can see the rim lip is nowhere to be seen and i think im going to want it flush.

Thanks man. They are the cheapest wheels i could find that fit the width requirments and still looked decent. Although Enjuku just put some new xxrs on their website that i like better but oh well thats the way it goes.

Started doing the engine bay and got off on a side project. Two days ago i was almost done for the year but now im a few weeks out. I have decided to relocate the engine bay fuse box to the glovebox. I looked over the FSM and i shouldn't have to cut and lengthen to many components. I will separate the headlight and power steering plugs from the main body harness and that should be all i have to do. I will then run the other engine harness along the frame rail on the other side. On to the pics.

The engine bay now...
Image

Image

Image

And this is what is scaring me but i have printed off the FSM and i will go through it component by component and eliminate what is not necessary jsut like i did with the interior. I would like to relocate everything to behind the back seat but that would require cutting and lengthening every wire. So f*** that i will stick to the glovebox for now.

Image

This is tomorrows project is taking out the interior.
Image

I am also going to clean up and paint the engine bay and weld shut any unnecessary bolt and wire holes.

***UPDATE***

A long story short...
Image

Turned into this...
Image

And now it ended up like this...
Image

I basically eliminated all the wiring that involves the A/C system, and some other stuff that i no longer needed. All i have left of the main fuse box is this. Along with the two antitheft relays that arent pictured but will be put in the same location.
Image

I have decided to relocate the engine bay fuse box, or whats left of it to this location under the ECU.
Image

And then i had to deal with all this...
Image

I know it looks overwhelming but let me explain a little about the project. Not a single wire was harmed in the making of this wire tuck. I depined and repinned every wire i did something to. The only wires i have to lengthen are the Alternator power wire, the starter power wire and some misc stuff like the reverse lights since my car was originally an auto. I rocked it for a year with no reverse lights. By not cutting any wires i have made it so i can add stuff if the need ever arose.

The upper string of wires is whats left of what used to go to the enigne bay fuse box minus the lights and radiator fan relay and its wiring. Everything else will be joined back up to the lower loom and run where the orignal loom went. There is enough room i already checked. Here is a pic of the tw looms.
Image

I have decided to weld up this hole and make a smaller one above it. I ordered some smaller grommets that should work on accoutn of there being not as many wires. This is over the driverside wheel well.
Image

On the otherside the engine wiring harness will be run through the old AC condensor condensation hole which is the lower hole in the picture. The other 3 holes in the picture will be welded shut. the starter and alternator wires will be run through their own holes with grommets but the engine will cover them up.
Image

Here are some other misc pics....
Image

Here you can see the two looms a little better.
Image

As soon as the wires i ordered and the grommets come in i will hook up the battery back in and make sure everything still works. Since i didnt mess with any of the engine wiring im not worried about that stuff not working.

***UPDATE***

The engine bay is finished and it is finally time to put the car back together. The brakes are on i just have to install the new Z32 master cylinder and put the brake lines back in the engine bay. On to the pics.

before
Image

The holes were welded shut with metal before the filler was applied.
Image

Final product im pretty happy with the result. The filler isnt perfect but it is just an engine bay and i didnt feel like paying some1 to do it.

Image

Image

Here i had to weld a new panel in since the battery tray removal tore some stuff up and would have been a hassle to get right again
Image

Image

Image

Image

Like i said i am pretty happy with the result I am jsut glad this little tangent is over with and i can get the car back on the road.

***MAJOR UPDATE***

It has been a while since i updated this build but that is because i have been to pissed off at the car to worry about it. We got the engine back in after the wire tuck, new clutch and new flywheel; and the fork which engages the clutch in and out became crooked somehow and kept the clutch engaged. So long story short we had to pull the engine 3 days after we put it in. This gave me an excuse to order new motor mounts and exhaust header since the old OEM one looked like crap. Well on to the pics...

This is how the engine looks now with the header and newly painted valve cover. My buddy painted it and im still deciding whether or not i am feeling it.
Image

Image

Then we got the car running good and i took it up and down the road. Of course my mishimoto radiator sprung a leak. This pissed me off till no end until i found out they had a no questions asked warranty and they instantly sent me a new one the day i called them.
Image

Ok so this is where the build gets good. i called my local shop for the sales reciept on the radiator and got to talking with one of the salesmen. I mentioned i was thinking of getting a JDM front bumper and he informed me they had an entire front bumper clip at the shop. When he told me the price i told him i would be there in a half hour and well anyway that night i came home with this...
Image

I started by taking off my old core support and putting the one i got with the clip on since it seemed like it had never been damaged. The one that was on my car was damaged just enough to drive me crazy from the previous owner.

Image

Image

Image

Unfortunately you cannot rock JDM fog lights with an intercooler so they are up for sale if anyone wants them.
Image

Image

Image

Well here is the final product. The next step will be to mock everything up and start the body work. I decided to just order the greddy front lip and sides plus an OEM JDM rear bumper. Also i will be painting the carso it is finally finshed. hopefully it is on the road by June.
Image

Image

Image

The car is staying black. Like i said the fog lights and anything else front the clip that i didnt use are for sale. Let me know. Unfortunatly it will not be done in time for Carlisle and this is the second straight year i will have to miss it. The JDM projectors are huge and so much sexier than my old brick headlights which are also up for sale along with the JDM grill that came on the clip.

Here is a before and after of the two front ends.
