***UPDATE***
I haven't updated on here for quite a while because summer has been slow. The Kouki had pretty much taken all the spare cash i had over the winter and i really don't feel like getting out the credit cards.

Yesterday we went to the street life tour in Xenia Ohio. Its a big drift event held once a year with the winner getting 3 grr. I want to thank the guys at zerolift for putting on the show even though they are completely worthless at doing anything else. The event was awesome. Great drifting and not to many cars were torn up although there were plenty of near misses. The car show was great to. I don't think i have ever seen so many supras and rx-7s in one place at the same time.

As for the kouki, they also had the 1/4 mile at the event and i took full advantage. I think i ran probably 15 times and my fastest et was 13.0058. I know, im still not a member of the 12 second kouki club and im sure spooled will remind me of this. I might get wider tires next year and maybe that will help. Still its pretty impressive for a completely stock sr running on 14 psi and crappy street tires.

I will be tearing the kouki back down this winter and taking full documentation. I will be pulling the engine and removing the interior to fix all the little things that have been getting annoying. The clutch is going to be replaced along with the thermostat, water pump, and some gaskets here and there. I will also be adding the greddy intake manifold i picked up off cl for 250 bucks. I figured it would be easier to just pull the engine and do all these things while its out of the car. It will also give me a chance to clean up the engine bay.

Well stay tuned and this project will most likely begin around november.

Yea i need to get on here more often but with the winter coming i will be on here all the time again. I have started looking into rims. I am gonna be so broke if i buy them but my car looks pretty crappy without them. But i need some ideas on which ones to get. They are def gonna be five or six stars and either white or bronze.

I needed something to put tires in and haul friends and the car to the track and since you cant fit more than two in the 240 comfortably i thought this would be perfect. Besides who can say they have a 1990 chevy avalanche.

***Crappy Update***
The winter teardown on the car will start on the 19th. A few friends are coming over and hopefully we can get the engine out that night. I ordered all new bushings for the entire car so that should be a fun project for the winter. I have started wheel and tire shopping and choosing tires is simple i am going with Kumho Ecsta XS they have a great dry rating. They arent that great in wet conditions but i never drive in the rain so they will be perfect for me.

Wheels are a pain in the a** to shop for. I would like to go with some XXRs but most of the 18s are 9.5 and I dont want to mess with my rolling my fenders I would like to go with an 18 x 9 because most of the 18 x 9s on S14s (rim tuck.com is a great resource) seem to clear the fender fine. I may have to go with 17s because there is a much greater selection of 9 inch wide rims. I am looking for a 5 or a six star in the 110 to 140 price range so if anybody has any recommendations i would be happy to take them. or if you have managed to fit a 18 x 9.5 on an s14 without rolling the fender or streching the tire let me know.

I have decided to go sportmaxx xxr 522s in dark bronze. They only make that color in the sizes i am ordering what are the odds. Im going 18x8.5 +25 in the front and 18x9.5 +25 rear. 225/40 and 245/40 respectively for tire size and those are khumo ecsta XS which got great reviews in dry weather. I might need slight spacing but i will worry about that when the time comes.
Image

If anyone sees anything wrong with this setup or thinks the front could be 9.5 with no problems feel free to comment.

not to sure what sunken offsets are cause im no pro either but after doing TONS of research +25 offset should give me plenty of leeway to get the fitment right with spacers.

I am a little worried about going 9.5 in the front. I only have 10.25 inches from the coil to the edge of the fender and i have yet to do the Z32 brake upgrade which is going on soon so i would rather be safe than sorry. The rim lip sticking out past the fender is never a good look. I was thinking of going 9.5 in the front and going 235/40 upfront but all the pictures i saw online no one had a flush look. The rim was always sticking out past the fender. It would be awesome to have another half inch of rubber up front.

S14Kouki10 if you have some pics of a 9.5 upfront and it is flush or less feel free to send them along.

****UPDATE****

I fell asleep watching the game tonight and woke up in a cold sweat. I had a nightmare that Greddy Intake mani dude sold for 250 was for an s13 instead of an s14. So i woke up put on a jacket and went and test fit it.

BEFORE
Image

AFTER...thank god it was the right one
Image

It was my understanding that you needed a special cold pipe for the Greddy intake but you dont here is with the "special pipe" and my old one.

The pipe i thought i needed
Image

The original one...
Image

Its cool i only paid 30 bucks for the other pipe. If anyone needs it or knows what it is for your more than welcome to buy it. It goes for 130 on FRSPORT make an offer.

I remember i talked to you about that last year so i can get rid of that stupid rubber intake tube. I might take this extra pipe and mock it up and bring it to the welder...good thinking Gord.

****UPDATE****

Last night we pulled the engine, steering rack, and rear subframe. The car looks pretty bare.

Image

As you can see the bay needs cleaning i definitely need to research on how you guys get these engines/bays so clean.
Image

Then out came the rear subframe which was way easier than i thought it would be
Image

Image

Then the front...
Image

Im really glad i decided to replace all the bushings cause as you can see the front two on the rear were completely shot. Also the tie rod ends and the lower ball joints on the front are all shot so those will need replacing.
Image

Next will be taking the trans off the engine to make sure my throw out bearing and clutch is in good shape

Bushings arent to bad once you learn the process and light your car on fire and stand idly by and watch it burn. You dont need to light them all on fire some you can cut with a razor blade and then sawzall out the rings but the rear subframe bushings you will definatly let burn.

****UPDATE****

I started cleaning up my engine. Last year when i did the swap we literally got the engine from the shop and put it in the car that day. This time around I want to pay a little more attention to detail. On to the pics...

Engine Before
Image

After the preliminary cleaning
Image

Today I also got the parts in for my Z32 brake upgrade. The rotors are huge compared to the old ones. The rears are going to have to wait till next year if i do them at all. A little black paint on the calipers and they should look fine.
Image

Image

Image

Got all the subframe bushings out. The front ones are fairly easy but the back ones you are left with leftover rubber. I will have to burn the rest out.

Rear ones
Image

Front ones...see nice and clean since they have the metal sleeve.
Image

The tension rods they have a sleeve to so they turn out nice and clean

Image

Btw a wood stove is a great way to melt the control arm bushings out. About 30 seconds is all it takes.

Image

And finally the car as it sits now. Kinda sad really but this should be well worth it once spring comes.

Image

The wheels and some misc parts are being ordered monday from enjuku so i will have plenty of time to figure out the spacer situation before spring
