After a LS meet I scooted on an onramp past a Pontiac GTP at full throttle.

They caught up with me, at about 105 mph and it was clear they wanted to ricer flyby me.So I keep up my 90 mph until they were close to me and would think they could ricer fly me, then I stomped on it and they never passed me.

I shut it down at about 120 mph with them many many car lenghts behind.

No offense to girls or anything, but I love a cute girl driving her boyfriends riced out civic. I was on the highway, driving the sr a respectable 60. Then right as I pass a ricer civic behind some van, the girl pulls out right behind me trying to lick my bumper. I hate that. So I down to 4 and start to pull away and pull to the right lane in front of the van. Then I hear her downshift to 3 and growl the intake. :oface After getting fed up with the rice antics, I decide to give it to her, good. I'm in the right lane, she is in the left just passing me. Ahead in the left lane there is some work truck. I drop it in 3 and start to pass her. As we approach the work truck, it decides to pull into my lane at the last minute. :help Lucky for me, the sholder at this juncture was huge, so I hit it. She is on my left rear corner before I pass the truck, and about 3 cars behind when I get back over. Needless to say I thought I had proved my point at about 7 car lengths, and slowed to about 75. This is when she passed me doing about a buck. Little did she notice there were cars ahead in both lanes, locked up her brakes at the last second and almost wrecked her boys ricer. :thinker At this point I decided to get off the HW and park it at the mall. About 2 minutes later, I police helicopter circled the HW and surrounding area for about 15 minutes.Moral, don't race people in ricer hondas.

rarely get chance to take Q on hwy and without wife. so last i got my chance alone on hwy doing 70-90mph in and out of traffic.i am in left lane and see this silver dot approching fast so i am curios .waiting it was silver 350z (pretty car) in rear view mirror.i slowed down so he can pass but he stayed on rear.i took the Q to 90mph,he did the same but still didn't pass me.we went over a ramp, mege into another hwy which had less traffic.we both testing each other's driving skills ,weighing each other out.all of sudden ,checked my right side mirror another silver dot approching fast it.in few seconds BMW Z4 passed us from the right then the guy in 350z decided to catch him and went after z4.i am after both of them .becasue of slow traffic z4 slows down and 350z behined him.now i am in middle lane pulled next to z4 doing about 80mph ,traffic clears i manually put the Q in 2nd engine roars take the Q to 100mph put it in 3rd by this time z4 was way back i am still in middle lane waiting for z4 in left lane at this point 350z start to pass me from the right but i am in the start of 3rd gear i stepped on the gas but no use 350z came from the back so his engine was already raved up he passed me and put a few car distance between us i am desparetly tying to catch up , at about 140mph Q start to close the gap.because we approched more traffic so we shut it down .i am little disopointed ,couldn't catch him but impressed by 350z performance. i see g35c in replacing the my Q in future.

101 on a yellow signed 35 mph curve, no bank, downhill. VDC (TCS) did NOT kick in once. Normally in other "fun" cars I can do a little more than twice the yellow sign limit (in this case around 80), but any more than that it gets scary.

0-145-0 in lesss than 2 miles on the interstate, one ramp to the next. Same night.

3 passengers, 5000 feet altitude, 0-100 mph in around 17 seconds (stop watch timed). Just got to love it.

Well, it's not really speeding, but a good story nonetheless.

Today, we decided to go traysliding and drifting at the nascar tech school parking lot. My I30t, a 87 RX-7, a 94 cavalier, and a 95 Impala SS.

we pulled some great slides and donuts, and i even managed to make it look like i was drifting. We went through about 20 trays, and then we just went to racing. (This is a huge parking lot.) Safety first, it was just drag-type and we didn't go really fast.

Well, the cavalier apparently had had enough for today, and on the way back down the lot it started ripping smoke out. The smell of antifreeze and oil was in the air.

We ran over to tell the guy driving to turn it off, and by the time he did there was antifreeze flowing out of the hood. A hose had popped off. Well as we approached his car, a guy that apparently worked at the school came out and the following dialogue ensued.

Douchebag: "Alright, y'all have had enough fun for today. You need to git. Now. We're locking this place up in 10 minutes. And pick up your damn trash."

RX-7 owner: "OK, we're done anyway."

Douchebag: "Damn right you're done. now GIT."

The guy then storms off. We had already picked up all the trays and had them next to our car, and I understand that the guy had a right to be pissed. Well, all the cav guy needed was a clamp to fix the hose. So we pushed his car to another lot so the guy wouldn't have it towed, and drove to walmart. We passed the police on the way out.

Another close call, but there were other people there that were actually burning out and damaging the lot, all we left behind was blue dust.

And i sped at some point, i guess, to keep it on topic.

Driving with my usual celerity, I impatiently merge from I-294 S (The Tri-State) on to the Kennedy north bound (I-90N) at the O'Hare toll. There are at least six lanes of traffic to cross to get to the I-Pass lanes in a hurry. I make two lanes and notice a car coming up fast in the 5th lane. He disrupts the flow in in unsafe way for my lane strategy. The car passes by me 3 lanes away hard on the brakes looking for an opening in the moderately heavy traffic approaching the toll. It's a red G35 coupe.

Looking for my next lane change and getting ready to pounce, I'm stymied! A red 300ZXTT is chasing the red G. It makes a quick lane change into the the slot next to me and fires the turbos up hard making a break for a hole in the traffic to get on the G's tail. It bottoms out as it digs in applying the TT power. He can't make the hole due to traffic braking and breaking up for the toll but he is suddenly ahead of me and into my manouevering plan! The G escapes followed by the 300ZXTT although separated by several cars and I'm forced to be very artfull to make the I-Pass lanes.

Nice. Nissan's toying with the traffic. Too bad my J wasn't red and a little less traffic.... Lost 'em both after the toll. Gotta make it another 6 months of infraction free driving.

Very cool to see the brand new red taut G coupe with only the driver being raced by a red 300ZXTT with two guys and seeing the the 32's explosion of turboed exhaust as it strained it's worn suspension to catch the G.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Most recent run was on a stretch a hwy with a few hills. I am going about 85 in my Q and a Grand Am or similiar come over a hill behind me doing over 100! I see it in rear view mirror and think, WTF? I speed up and it keeps increasing speed towards me. After I hit 115mph I realize Local trooper is chasing him & I quickly slow down and give way....whoops. In 1993 I had a '83 280ZX. I gave my buddy too big a head start towards home in a 89 ford escort on a flat 6 mile hwy. He topped out at 118mph (Yes they will do that!) My digitial speedo stopped at 85mph, but running 5100 rpm in 5th and I est. I was doing 140mph and catching up to him pretty good. My wipers creeped halfway up the windshield and he was quite surprised on how hard I was catching up to him.I ran my '93 Q with some motercycle having fun on the state hwy. There were about 6 of them running up and down to 120 mph and closing in on me. When one got a little close I punched it and didnt let them pass. I gave them a lot of room and respect and let them pass at my discretion. They were grateful for my the spacing I gave them. They seemed surprised at the power of the Q & waved as I let them go by. Both my Qs have hit 150mph in 3rd gear. My buddy with a WRX saw me leave him at 120 mph and he called my on his cell after I lost him in my mirror to say DAMN!Also SZHosain are you trying to do post stuffing? wait for the post numbers to register...hehe

One othe quickie...I was on a commuting portion of Intestate 64 in St Louis waiting for the car in front of me to move and a 911 sped up to 85 to move in front of me to take the place of the car that finally moved. As I sped up to follow the 911 he slowed down to 60mph(the limit). I am on him like lets go...thats what I am waiting for! I see a trooper merge in on traffic next to us and turn on lights. I had been doing 85 in 60mph zone seconds before. I slow down to 50 to let trooper get behind 911 and pull him over. As I pass the 2 of them guy in 911 points to me as if to signal cop that I was partial to situation. As I pass them at speed limit...I am thinking, unless cop specifically indicates for me to pull over, I am not volunteering anything. Cop may have seen him speeding a few moments earlier, but either way he prob pulls over 911 b4 4 door sedan.

Ok, so im riding on the 202 south in phx (if i recal correctly) in my friends '96 Z28 Camaro. And this guy in a WRX blows by us going about 85 in a 65 (i think, i never really look at the signs ;) ) so my buddy stomps on the accelerator, we catch him in no time at all. and now it starts to rain and the trafic gets thick. We get stuck as he's weaving through to the front of the pack. Finaly there is a widened shoulder at an on-ramp and we get out ahead of the cluster, by now he is several hundred yards ahead of us and going at least 95. So we stomp on it again... V8 power is all i have to say... His WRX looked pretty pathetic when we caught him in what seemed to be about 4 seconds. We immediately exited going about 135. Dont think he'll race another Z28 for a while.

Great stories! My best story involves my 1980 Camaro Z28. Bought it new and then 3 weeks after I got it, was able to swap the stock 350 V8 for a 454 LS6 from the dealer. A guy bought the crate motor with deposit and couldn't pay rest. Dealer installed with custom brackets and front springs from a early 396 camaro.Too much to list except that it also had Spearco alcohol injection and marvin Miller Nitor setup.

Best part is that it was only about 3 months old when all work done. Full suspension work done too.

I took it on a hywy trip shortly after and was deiving thru the Canadian Rockies on a nice hywy ( Yellowhead hywy to Jasper AB) at about 11:00 pm. I was running about 145 mph when I saw some lights way behind me. Lights slowly caught up cause I slowed down to about 100mph. Turned out to be a RCMP police Mustang! All fixed up for hywy patrol.Pulled me over and asked me what under hood. so impressed we pulled out on hywy and I went for it and he tried to keep up. Lost him at 150 and kept my foot in it until I had redlined it. ( 3:23 rear end = about 175 - 180 mph)Scary stuff!!

Geoff - I'm glad you think you let those motorcyles go by at your discretion...but I have to disagree unless they were Harley's. Me being a fellow Q owner and a motorcycle rider also - I've messed with many cars in my 2-wheel days, Greenwood 'Vettes, Porsche 911, Cobra's, and have yet to come across anything that I couldn't pass or leave at my discretion. Even on my '95 600cc Ninja - no problem.

Now, my most recent story...me and a Mustang GT cruising (80mph) across the East Bay Bridge this morning about 9:30am, traffic's light as it is a holiday. This bridge has a hump in the middle like most bridges, we both slow down the 65 (speed limit is 60) to go over making sure no cops on the other side waiting for speeders. It's totally clear. He is in the far left lane and I'm in the far right lane of the 3 lane hiway. I hear him downshift so I floor the Q - we accelerate neck and neck neither gaining on the other. I am looking over and urging her on - come on baby you got 'em. I look down and see we are slightly over 100 at this point and I'm keeping her WFO, we are still within the same car length of each other. I see 110, 120, then 130 and he must have pussed out 'cause at 135 the Q was totally leaving him. I let up a little eventually slowing to 65 when leaving the bridge. It's funny the GT caught up but stayed about 5 car lengths behind me - I'm sure admiring the Q - and I'm sure out of respect....

My friend has a s2000. So one day during this past summer were on the way to the mall on 114. 114 runs into 121 and becomes 4 lanes right by the DFW airport. So he floors it and we hit about 110 with the top down i grab for the handle and hold on. I watch the digital speedo go to 120-130-140-150-156 speed limiter and we slow down real quick. It was fun as hell but very scary. With the top down i couldnt even hear myself think.

A 600cc Ninja is a Bad A** bike and these were not. Couldnt tell exactly while doing triple digit speeds but likely 600cc tops medium crotch rockets. A lot of bikes will beat a Q but many will not from hwy speed start. These guys knew a lot a sports cars could beat them...just didn't expect a 4 door sedan to do so. There is really no showmanship here...apples to oranges.

A non limited J will do 140+. Feels great at limited 130. Stable and smooth. The old Qs will do 165 from what I've read around here.

Old Qs seem to be the fastest, with members here reporting speeds over 160mph! I have hit 155mph in third in both my Qs! The 3rd gen Q maybe faster..I just don't have stats on them. 2nd gen Qs go over 150, just take a little longer to get there. :help

Oh, yes, they definitely are that fast! I drove my 1991 Q at very high speeds for long distances once ... story is in this thread (in the first few posts).

I bet that Camaro was fast. I also had an '80 ******in Camaro Z28 in 1988. Performance cam, intake, headers, air shocks, Hercules Poly 60s on rear, traction bars, posi trac. An absolute Rocket to 135 and the Redline. I ate everthing on the road...Other Camaros, 6.6 T.A.s, Vettes. All except a 454 Chevelle and an '87 300ZX Turbo. I think 300 had some add-ons. It was not a race from zero, but from 45 and that is how he got me. Other than that the car was a major piece of crap, so I bought my first 280zx and nver looked back.

Jeff, - It was a very fast car. At its best with the nitro and alcohol and running only the widest street tires I could fit, - no slicks, - I ran a best of 13.08 in the quarter at 112. Problem was I couldn't hook up, smoked them in first two gears bad. ( Dyno results were 623HP !! )No substitute for big block cubes/hp. It had massive torque from about 2000 to balanced redline of 7200.Great car, - I miss its raw intensity but I love my G35 for its civilized punch and road manners. However I'd have put my old camaro up against almost anything on the street, - including bikes!Several guys were very suprised when they went to race me as they thought it was just a modified stock new camaro, - the ultimate sleeper!!The best high speed run I had in her was against a 1987 Porsche Turbo, - according to the other guy we hit 190 mph on his speedo, - mine didn't go up that high!

anyway enough bragging about hte glory days, - I'll do some more tweaking to my G and be happy to have one of the best 4 door sports cars on the road today.

MOTHER OF PEARL!! INFINITI OWNS!!

I have a few of myself.. Nothing spectacular, just some normal everyday ownage...

I raced a 01 impala, he roasted me off the line, then when i got to 30 i roasted him there was no competition...

Since this is a speeding stories thing, I have gotten the Q up to 120.. No faster with my H rated tires... I wanna get the JWT ECU, and take it out to montana or kansas to see what she can do.....

As I was merging on to the Fl Turnpike for my daily 90 mile race (commute), I realized that a black pontiac was on my tail. He was a bit to close for comfort, so I punched it and noticed that he couldn't stay with me.When we got to the toll booth I went through the Sunpass lane (no stopping) he took the next lane next to me and I knew he was going to maked his move. For insurance, I turned off the a/c and hit it....... I just totally pulled away from him, I kept him behind me until I got off. When he went by I noticed he had his new temporary tags on, I felt a little sorry for him, I'm sure he thought his new supercharged wheels would easily nail this old sedan.

I realize that many on this forum don't consider the 96Q to be very fast but I have taken a lot of really good cars with this old Q, ( BMW 740IL (2) and 530's,Lincoln LS V8's, Mercedes S430, etc.) The car has excellent fuel management. I think I remember reading somewhere that the 96 has 32 bit computer processing instead of 16 bit for the previous Q's. I do know that it has instantaneous response at all speeds and will burn rubber from a standing start at will..... it may not have variable valves but it still seriously fast.

P.S. The 2000Q is not as fast as this one.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------96Q45 with 130k and 2000 Q45 Anniversary Edition with 52k

The 96Q is still fast, just hard to get that 75-120 thrust of the V V T versions. 96 is about 278hp as stated. Previous ones are more like 295hp. I have tested that theory with my 95. With a few cars I have raced to match, I needed a power to weight ratio equalling 295hp to my 4100lb and it produced.

A few months ago my girlfriend and I were driving into Baltimore from north of the city in her car, a 2000 GTI 1.8T. We were at a light waiting to get onto 83 South when an Audi A4 pulled up next to us. The passanger just started staring at her so I pulled up a few inches. He motioned for his friend to pull up and pointed to her, and so he did, and then the passanger made the universal "oral sex" motion (y'all know what I'm talking about \/,,). I gave him another universal motion and then the light turned green and I floored it and pulled in front of them and then we went under the highway and entered the on ramp.

The driver pulled up on my rear so close that I could barely see the bottom of his windshield, so I SLAMMED on my breaks, causing this jackass to turn his car sideways and nearly clear out the wall of the ramp. He recovered just as I was speeding out of the turn onto the highway and came after me. He quickly caught up at about 110 and the friend opened the window to lean out and start cursing at me. My girl, in all her glory, opened the roof and started tossing her sizable collection of empty glass snapple bottles at him. One exploded on his windshield which got the passanger to scramble back in the car. Then the driver leaned across, while we going 100+, to scream at me. While he was leaning his car drifted onto the rumble strip and he paniced, grabbing at the wheel. He swerved and the car went off the road into the grassy median. Then he cut all the way back across 4 lanes of traffic onto the side of the road and came to a stop in a cloud of smoke.

I slowed down after that, to 65 and went around the bend, and right there on the side of the road was a cop. As we were driving by the officer I glanced in the rear view and here comes our friend again going full tilt in the high speed lane. No sooner did he come into view then the cop tagged him and the lights came on and our friend got pulled over. I, needless to say, got off at the next exit and thankfully never heard about it again.

My friend Chris and I were coming home from the bar one night in his 88 Supra, him completely intoxicated in the passangers seat. The car had recently been upgraded to a J-Spec 7MGTE and a T04 turbo upgrade, upgraded injectors, fuel pump, cams, gears, and a piggy back inginition system. The turbo was upped to 17.5PSI from 7 stock. I'm not sure where that puts the BHP, but I'm certain it was nearly 400whp. We were going north from baltimore into reisterstown on 795 when a pair of HID lights came up behind me very quickly. I excitedly anticipated some kind of german masterpiece, or perhaps a new Z or something italian. Sadly, to my disappointment I was passed by a late model Prelude sporting an obnoxious fart can, doing a ballsy 100mph. I dropped the Supra from 5th to 3rd in a "double-clutch" manuever that brought instant full boost and rocketed into fourth, topping 4th at about 145mph, leaving the 'lude in dust. Then I slowed down and let him catch up to me, we matched at 70 and he dropped the hammer. I let him pull three or four car lengths before again double clutching into 3rd up to 100 where I pulled up beside him and then shifted into 4th releasing the boost pressure in a loud whooooosh before taking the supra up to 155 in 4th and then 185 in 5th. In about 5 seconds his HID's were a spec in the mirror and we were gone.
