how old is the gas in the tank? that would make it not run top notch. also check for dirty injectors, maf, plugs, wires, you know the usual tune up stuff

I have a question, I was messing around with my engine today checking things that could be manking my car not idle. So I unpluged the MAF plug and the car idles fine and runs great so my question is why does it do this? I pluged it in while it was idleing great and then it went to not want to idle again. Is my MAF bad or something?

That is a possibility that it is entirely bad but before you buy a new one... Go to the Auto store and get a can of MAF cleaner. It's strong enough to clean the sensor inside but won't damage it like harsher cleaners potentially can.

I did it on my VW and it worked perfect, so hopefully that will help or fix the problem.

tip: put the heatshield for the exhaust manifold back on. nissan and all other car manufacturers put it there for a reason. good luck with your car man.

I wish I never would have sold my S13 back in 2001 but I had just gotten married and had a kid on the way. I got scared and bought a VW Jetta with 4 doors and automatic.

I am going to pull the engine in the next few days too.

I already took out the condenser, radiator, fans and its shroud, as well as the air intake and maf sensor.

What else is holding it down? Just the cross member?

No need to pull the condenser for the ac unless you dont want ac anymore, check for all the ground wires, all the plugs motor mounts, transmission crossmember. What I did was I pulled the engine forward so the driveshaft slid out, oh and remember to drain all fluids. There are a bunch of plugs for the transmission and the clutch cylinder slave on the transmission if this is a manuel! And also you will need to take the shifter out.

I needed to take the condenser out because I'm doing a complete swap.

Thanks for the advice

Well guys I was driving the car today cruisin around town and then right when im starting to turn on to the road heading back up town my car is acting like the clutch is slipping really bad or something, there was no burning smell that i could tel. The wierd thing is it seems like the clutch is partially ingaged and it will rev higher but will only go really slow. So my question is do I need a new clutch or what could be causing this? My engine was really hot when I finally got home also .

Well I have been having a issue that my clutch seems to be ingaged still but kinda catches so my car is moving but not very fast and it revs so you have to shift gears. But the thing is we bled the clutch and got it were it ingages in the midle when you are letting go of the clutch, and then I drove it around for like hour and then it started doing it again when I was going home. Can anyone tell me why this could be happening? Any info will be appreciated!

your slave cylinder is on its way out, its happened me 3 times(dam exeedy clutch) now so i know the signs all too well.it will engage all the way but because the seal is warn on it the fluid is not flowing fully to allow it to release the pressure plate.to be sure of this take it off the gear box and open the bleed niple slightly, push the pin back into the cylinder and close the niple, place your hand over the pin(to act like the plate on the gear box) and see if it acts like it should.if not just get a new one. should only cost about $25-30

Hey guys it's been a long time since I last posted but not much has changed.I changed the clutch slave and blamo clutch works great now!I have just been colecting parts from the local peeps around my area so far I have got Raybestos brake pads, mudflaps, hatch privacy cover, free cone filter and thats prety much it. I've been trying to get some new rims but no one around here has any good rims.

I have came into another problem, my MAF is bad and I was wondering if anyone knew if a s14 MAF will work on a S13? Thanks.

Yes the S14 MAF will work on an S13, but if yours is bad why not try to get your hands on a Q45 or Mustang/Lightning MAF.
