Lol, can't figure how to unplug it eh?! You just push down on the little plastic piece and pull it apart. Sometimes using a flathead while pulling on it makes it a little easier.

IIRC I didn't unplug those when I pulled my SOHC. As I pulled the motor and trans I waited til it got to about half way out the bay and unplugged them, easier to unplug when they're in front of you.

Just out of curiosity, are you still pulling that same engine? I mean I just read your entire thread here and its taking you like a month. No offense, I didn't know what needed to be done when I pulled my first engine out of my S14, but we managed to get it drained, harness unplugged and motor and trans pulled in a day. It took about 3 hours to get the new engine and trans back in due to me replacing the motor and trans mounts and it being a full 5 speed swap with bolt on's.

Took me a month of weekends to get it all put back together and on the road, but it was also winter and I had to deal with the cold and snow and work.

I would hope that you would have everything out in a day or two and everything bolted up and back in in a day. I noticed you got a full motor and trans sitting on the pallet, why didn't you just pull the original motor and trans out in one piece and put the replacement motor and trans back in one piece. It would have taken you less time, and you would be on the road in like 2-3 days.

Ya I have been working on it but I dont really have any time cuz I got school all week long and homework and now im going to have finals for the end of the year and I have been doing this on the weekends and I also have to work at my house with my parents so there is a lot going on during the week and weekend and does not allow much time for the car. But hopefully we will have the engine out today or tomorrow and we lifted the other engine up to put on the stand yesterday and drained the transmission fluid in the car so we can remove, that was the last thing we needed to do the get the engine and transmission out so I will update with pictures later.

Well people school is out for summah yeah, and I have been working on my car and I do not know how to get the timing chain off of the gear sprockets for the cams, do you need to leave those little brackets on top of the cams tight before you try to loosen the cam sprockets, or what. Any info would be a great help, trying to get this done so I can finally drive my car seeing how I have my license now. P.S. im trying to do this so I can get the head off of my engine that is on the stand to put the new headgasket on.

Well I got a question, what is the best way to get transmission fluid in the transmission once you put the transmission back in? Or what is a technique that you use to get the oil in, because when I get my engine and transmission back in i'm going to have to get all the fluids in. What transmission oil do you guys recomend? Sorry for no updates but i've been realy buisy makin that money so I can get some goodies for my car!

Easy way is to pull the shifter and fill via there. Make sure to measure out the required amount stated in the FSM because you can't check the level.

Well today me and my dad started to put the engine back in because it was all ready to be put back in. So we put it in the car but took us forever because somehow it always seemed that the engine mount holes would never line up and also the exhaust would not line up either. but we finally got it in!

This is when we started lowering it in. And the eagle has landed!

So thats how we left it for the night. Tomorrow I'm gonna work my a** off to get her started so stay tuned!

Well guys I have been gone for two weeks working and I just got home yesterday. overall I made $1024. But unfortunately all off its going to my parents because they bought me the car and I am paying them back for it.

but before I left we got all the engine stuff taken care of amd I just never took pictures. so here is the final engine bay.

But unfortunately the engine has only started up once and it ran very ruff, but hopefully the engine will start up after I tinker around with it more.

I have a question what are some things to look for that would cause my engine to not turn over? it cranks and cranks and cranks and sometimes tries to start but it will not turn over, I've already ruled out spark, fuel, wiring, possibaly. I'm going to check my plugs tomorrow but I just want her to run so I can drive Any info will be appreciated guys!

Was anything recently done with that motor? Where did you buy it and why was it pulled? did you ever pull out the distributor? have you verified the distributor is in right etc?

Does every body feel a need to say this? It gets repetitive and annoying, we get the fact your 15 and buy your own parts... cool.

My opinion still stands, almost every build thread goes something along "oh that will be on hold since I don't have cash to shell out for this and that and Mommy and Daddy wont buy me this or that and I have to do it on my own unlike other people on here"

I mean I'm all for supporting your own hobbies but is it a necessity to say so everytime?

kevinphan, why do You feel the need to bring up one of your pet peeves?

idahoS13, What all did you do to rule out the spark fuel etc?

Run through the fuses and double check that none are toast. Check relays and fuses in the bay for the same.

Thanks guys, I was just frustrated and needed to vent guys. But thanks for all the nice comments. Oh I was thinking my timing could be the reason for my engine not turning over, I didnt put it on TDC and make the dizzy set on cylinder 1 before I started so im gonna look into that, well im going fishing !
