Hello everyone.
My name is Dave and I recently put a factory M62 Eaton supercharger on my naturally aspirated 2004 Xterra XE. It puts out 8 psi of boost at 5200 rpm and has transformed my X to a very different truck. After five months of research and collecting parts, scouring through forums filled with some usefull information but mostly miss information, I put together a parts list with part numbers and with a lot of Ebaying and $2000 later, I installed my new supercharger. Now there was countless post on several sites that said "don't do it"Everything thing from " its too costly to it won't work to condescending remarks that shot other people down for even thinking about it. I joined this site after reading a post from a very ambitious non technical family guy that wanted to turbo charge his 4 cylinder Xterra. He went on to say that he loved his truck and just wanted a little more HP and he was looking to get a parts list to put a turbo on his daily driver. To my surprise everyone responded with encouraging helpful information. People offered links, advice, parts for sale and very helpfull suggestions.
No one shot him down. One very polite member gave some very helpful information and apologized to the poster if he may have insulted him in any way.
I just want to say. Give yourselves a pat on the back. I would do it my self if I could reach you all. I was so inspired that I joined this site. I have X that is a daily driver. It is extensively modified. I built everything myself. Things like a 3" id custom snorkle. Full custom front bumper with winch and lights. Custom rear recovery points with tire swing gate and of coarse I installed a factory supercharger but not a factory setup. I don't belong to a 4x4 site or any other site other than just joining this one. I found that most people on other sites are just spouting out a bunch of blah blah blah. Nothing productive just miss information and usless opinions.
So here I am.... on this site. Very impressed and that doesn't happen too often.

Here's a link to my photo album.

Thanks Guys
Sincerely,
Dave

Thanks for the honest review, Dave!

We just ask that you return the favor if anyone has any questions that you're knowledgeable about.

...and post some pics of your rides/mods ;)

Yeah, VGs don't make the power that other engines do, but if it's what you have and what you like, why not? I miss my old V6 beast...
Someone else on here made his S12 VG33 supercharged as well...

The VG30 series was intended to be a forced induction engine right from design stage. It has a strong bottom end and low compression ratio. That is why the VG30 dominated the racing circuit for so long. As far as helping others. I am happy to. Once I work out all the bugs on my Supercharger I will post my parts matrix along with some tips to make things go smooth for anyone wanting to take on the same challenge. I have an Automatic transmission and that makes the install a little trickier. I have two cel codes. One is a P0600. A/T serial com loss. And a P0034 supercharger bypass solenoid voltage low. Neither code effects the truck in any way but the cel is annoying. I have traced the supercharger bypass circuit back to the super multiple junction box and its just a matter of time until I fix that one.
I will post some pics when I get a chance.
Have a great night.

I am heading to Charleston this week end. My Girl has a spin cert. Course this weekend.I havent decided if I am going to take my rig with me or not. I will drive it this week and decide on friday. I was having random cylinder mis fires that were intermediate. I rerouted the fuel regulator vacuum from the boost side to the atmosphere side and its been good so far. I will have some time on my hands while im there. If I drive the X I will let you know on friday and we could meet up for some gear head talk.lol

Aww, that sucks. I was gonna be rolling around the old slave market showing a friend around the vendors there and visiting the restaurants around there. Would have been a good time! :(

I have family in Easley, but they're NASCAR fanatics so I can't stand being near them for more than a day or so...
