PapaSmurf2k3 wrote:You can definitely use the cat back, and yes as long as everything is still in the same place, there isn't any reason you can't use the whole thing. That being said, the odds of everything being in the same place after a swap (turbo mounting point to turbo mounting point) are very slim, so you might end up having to make something custom, or replacing your downpipe, or both.
Thanks

Hi I wanted to know if the Zenki CF hoods and the Kouki CF hoods are the same?

I have a zenki front right now, and I know I eventually want to go Kouki (its not top priority but one day) but the hood is pretty jacked up. I wanted to replace the hood first, so if the Kouki and Zenki are the same then I it wouldn't matter if I got the hood now instead of waiting.

Also, if its not the same how similar is it, if its different should i just get the Kouki hood and put it on even if its not a snug fit and then wait for a conversion, or will it be really off?

It's all up to personal preference but most will say to go with the 18s. 19s will take some more work, especially with them being x10. Those are some wide mofos. Do you really need/want something that wide?

Uhhh, just find a wiring diagram for the old and new stereo. Then match, splice, and crimp the wires to the proper place. Should be very simple.

Make sure you have a wire splice/cut tool and some kind of connectors.

I need some help here. Im trying to take my shift boot off, and i cannot seperate my shift knob from the bottom piece. And im sure its supposed to be able to twist off, cause it did in my last car... Also there is a black plastic ring keeping the boot attatched at the center idk wat tht has to do with anything, just throwing it out there.

the bottom piece its attached to and should be able to twist off? and the black ring holding the boot

thanks for any help or suggestions.

Under the plastic ring surrounding the shift boot there should be some little o-shaped clips. Pop those off and your shift boot should be free.

.....Ok, here's my question. I removed the plastic trim piece (s13) that surrounds the radio, hvac, din, etc.. but I don't know how to get the other plastic trim piece off. The one that surrounds the power mirror button, lighter, and coin holder. I'm sure it's probably really easy, but I don't want to break anything, thanks.

Nah that wasn't it. I broke the black platic ring that was holding the boot on, I figured id find another way of retaining it like a ziptie. But I still can't get my shift knob off.... is it not supposed to seperate?

I don't think that just pops off... I think you have to unbolt it from the body and remove the whole center console... which isn't hard.

Seems like mine has never been taken off since birth and its stuck right on the dam thing. I guess my best choice is a vice grip and man power

no, scuffed.

what youve got on your car seems to be an ebay short throw shifter.

i used to have one, and its notoriously easy to tighten the shiftknob onto the shifter MORE than the shifter's top portion tightens onto the bottom portion.

you have to grab the silver part, under the boot, and twist the shift knob off. its a PITA. i hate those things. i jacked a stock shifter from a junkyard 240 to put back in my car.

hi i'm new to the 240 scene and i just bought a 93' and i noticed it said "SUPER HICAS" on the quarter panel by the door. the guy told me it was like .. 4 wheel steering or something. just curious if anyone knew anymore information about it. i'm also planning on a sr swap and was wondering if it would be a problem having super hicas.

thanks!

For you ^http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HICAS

A friend has a used s13 redtop sr20det for sale and I currently own an s14. Seeing that the ka24de has been in 240sx's for a while now I'm guessing the s13 redtop will fit in my s14. Just I haven't seen this done before, just any advice would help.

I'm just looking into buying a 1991 240sx 5 spd. Not sure which trim level but it is a fastback and I'm told it has power everything, a sunroof, cloth interior, LSD, and the HICAS four wheel steering. It has 137,000 km's (approx. 85,000 miles). Because I have been stupid enough to buy a car with out a thorough check before (stupid POS Miata!) I decided that I should look around the interwebs for any useful information on the car. I know there was a recall for the seatbelts but nothing else that I can see. I've also pieced together somethings to look for from various threads on this site.
Here's what I have so far! wrote:There are some things to look for when buying an s13. Mileage is normally not a very big issue as the KA is known to go well over 200,000 miles if maintained properly. I wouldn’t recommend buying one with super high mileage, but if you are assured it has been properly maintained, then you should be fine.Listen to the engine at idle. If it makes a “Marble Rolling in a Tin Can” noise coming from the front of the engine, that would be the timing chain guides. These are plastic and are deemed unnecessary by Nissan. They will eventually break off if not removed. There is a great write-up here on nico that shows how to take care of this issue by removing the guides. It is about a 3hr. job and is fairly simple if you are mechanically inclined.Rust is also a common problem. For rust check the bottom/frame rails first don't leave or even think of buying if you don't do this. Also check the strut towers, wheel wells, and lower doors. The worst one is on the hatchback. If the hatchback has a factory spoiler, then there WILL be rust under that spoiler 90-95% of the time. The factory spoiler is foam and it will rust your hatch to no end. It is better to find a hatch without a spoiler, but if your baby has a spoiler, you can probably find a spoiler less hatch here in the nico classifieds. Check the trunk pull the carpet off. If you think its just surface rust poke at it see if it is really solid. Also check under the muffler. Floor boards also rust out. Inside the rear fender below the antenna. also check down in the rear fenders for any corrosion, water, debris that kind of stuff.
Any recommendations of what else I should be looking for? I am somewhat mechanically inclined, I'm just not sure what I should be looking for.

I just got done installing a fmic on my 1993 240 sr with a silvia front , I cut the bottom off of the metal bumper so I could slide the intercooler as far up as possible so it's still somewhat legal. I hacked alot out of the silvia bumper but still cannot get the damn thing to fit...I need some further direction.

Try buffing it with rubbing/polishing compound, then waxing it with a cleaner wax.
