Not that I am going to do this. I am just curious and would love to see the results and read a build thread.
yes anything is possible. its not going to bolt right up but it can be done. a little elbow grease and a butt load of body work and there you will have a polished turd!!!!

My first post......

I'm 17, looking to get my first car and found a 95 240sx. Researched here a little, but want to ask you guys.... is $4900 too much to pay for this car?

http://sanantonio.craigslist.o....html

Car seemed ok, but having never driven a 240sx before, didn't really know what to look for. Car is mostly stock, driving it was ok, drove straight, tight steering.

If I do get it, first upgrades will be suspension package.... so I'll definitely be hanging around here for awhile. Hope to learn alot about these cool little cars.

Thanks,Vance

look for bald tires,(on the rear) and do a compression check, its about 5 or 6 posts up. if your not capable of doing a compression check you can take it to a local garage or dealer and they can tell you what you want to know. *** far as the first mod you can gat alot of ideas for different things. all with different degree of difficulty. so the options are endless.

$4900 price seem about right for that car? it is not in excellent condition, recent paint job looks kinda cheesy, like if they didn't tape it off very good around the windows and stuff, i can see white paint underneath the new maroon paint....

tires look good though......

as for the compression test... this car is at a small used car lot. Do I just ask them if it's ok to take it to get it checked out...will they be cool with that?

thanks again,Vance

most dealers do not mind just ask him if he minds. you will have to pay for it.if he declines he may have something to hide. as far as the paint it may have been wrecked. if you get it to the shop just ask the shop if if they can give a good once over for any thing wrong. then ask the tech if he would let his mother drive the car.... we dont like to see our mothers in junk cars!!!lol as far as the price cruise through the classifieds to see how much the same car is going for, or go to your local classifieds but they have alot to look at here. $4900 dont sound bad but see what you think.

Hey Papa Smurff. I need your expertise once again! My 91 240sx Autotragic is experiencing some acceleration problems. My car losses power on and off. My car has really slow acceleration. I will floor the pedal and its will stay at 2,000rpms for a while and seems to always shift at around 3,000rpm. Regularly when I floor the pedal it goes way faster and doesnt shift so soon. It seems like the car will accelerate fine one day, but then lose power another.

I have an ECU code 32 EGR Valve problem. I just replaced distributor, air filter, fuel filter and did a tune up. Any suggestions?

a question for those that have bought an ebay catback! did you guys buy it from the 'japanimportshop888' or whatever? i searched a little here and it seems that most people bought it from there, but the threads were kinda old. i have the money now, just waiting for... i dunno! haha. and i emailed them, and the said that the tip is 4.5 inches! that seems pretty excessive, are yours like that too? the fart can tip( ) i bought for my DD (LOL it was only 40 bucks, so eff yeah ;P) is only like 2.5 or 3 inches!

Sounds like a loose connection somewhere. Maybe one of your engine grounds? Also check the connections around the EGR valve. Also look for vacuum leaks.

i just noticed the difference in the color in the paint under the hood.. also may want to do a carfax. you had mentioned you can see white paint under the burgundy..... red flag to me. it may be nothing but still...

Are you looking to just order the parts and do it yourself, or are you looking to have a shop do it all for you?

I need help with my power window assy, Passenger side went down but not up I could not find much info on diagrams and such but i am getting voltage to the switch. I did find one forum post of the power window Amp (or encoder) So i decided to search for it to test it... problem is I cant find it. From what I read it is connected with 2 screws but where is it located. :P

Any ideas on anything else i should be looking at?

The window amp is located on driver side, under the panel. Its a white box that's covered in blackrubberish material.

So for the 92 there is only one window amp? So i guess i can cross that out of my problems if there is only one considering my drivers side window is operating properly...?

When you get the door panel off and get to the window amp, open it. I suspect it's a broken solder point on the circuit board of the window amp or the button on the window switch. There is a tab where the wire harness connection is (window amp) , just pry it with a screwdriver and pull the top of the window amp box off. Check for broken solder points on the circuit board, to fix just just resolder it.

You can check the window switch by opening it up and making sure the slider on the circuit board is still between the grooves of the window button switch. When you open it up, you'll see what I'm talking about.

Yes, just one window amp. Open it and solder the broken point, takes like ten minutes.

I was actually planning on doing that this winter as well. There are quite a few write ups here on NICO.If you do a search for "S13 Rear Bumper removal" you should come up with quite a few things.I was hoping to get a new rear bumper before I take mine off, but can't seem to find one that eliminates the "ghetto booty" effect of the stock S13 coupe bumper. Do you know of any?

I'm thinking about just fabbing up my own out of steel.

AC question. The selector in the dash: to the floorboards, defrost, top vents, etc... Do they light up?? Not the green part but the little symbol??

Also, my heat to cold slider does not make anything move under the dash, i purchased another dash insert piece and it does not move anything... what can be broke or fallen off under the dash to keep the vent closed?? Thank you

I'm not 100% sure on S14's, but I'm pretty sure the HVAC is similar to the S13 in regard to the backlighting. Those are supposed to be lit up. There is a writeup in my sig for the S13. In the articles page, there's a S14 writeup for making them light up.

I'm not sure if S14 uses a cable actuator or an electrical actuator. On S13's, it uses a cable actuator. There is a retaining clip that needs to be in place to get the cable to work. If S14's use a similar design, that could be your problem.

how am i able to track down whats draining my battery? i've deduced that this is the problem and not a starter, because whenever i jump the car with my portable battery thingy, it starts off, albeit a little sluggish sounding. as soon as i connect the cables, my clock turns on and everything electrical goes on.

It could be the battery itself. Have you had it checked?

Are you sure that the PCV valve is good? There really isn't much to the PCV system. Maybe your hose is clogged?

As far as plugs and pins for a harness... that is a tough one. Are you looking for a KA harness? I remember one of our sponsors made harnesses for the SR, and I THINK they made them for the KA too. Try Wiring Specialties... http://www.wiringspecialties.com/

They are a sponsor of ours, and should be able to help you out, or point you in the right direction.
