The 240 comes with a 4.08 rear end gear ratio.

my goal is to get about 200-250 hp to the crank.. so i could only buy a t3 and drop the whole thing into the enginebay ?

so if i understood, the weak point of the KA is the pistons ??how much does it cost to change them 2-300 bucks ?

would a 250 hp set up with new pistons would be fine ? or i'd have to change valves and some other internals ???
200-250 at the crank is easily attainable. Buy the T3, a manifold, downpipe, Rising Rate Fuel Pressure Regulator, Walbro fuel pump (255 liters per hour). You could probably get to that power level without even using an intercooler, but it is a good investment (along with a blow off valve).

You can make your power goals without breaking into the motor at all. Perform the mods I was telling you about, run about 7 PSI, turn the timing back roughly 1 degree and run an 8:1 RRFPR. That ought to do it for you, but beware of the boost bug. You will want to turn the boost up, but PLEASE refrain until you upgrade your fuel system.

Forged pistons will run you roughly $400, and changing them out varies. You could do it yourself, but figure paying someone to do it might cost you an additional $400 ish? Honestly I don't know, I've never had anyone just change the pistons.
megaderk wrote:whats the difference between the KA and CA engines?

and what was the HP for the stocl KA24E?
Well, there are many difference between the 2 motors, Bore, Stroke, and with that, displacement. The CA is a 1.8 liter, and the KA series is a 2.4 liter. The KA24E produces around 145 HP, and the KA24DE produces 155HP.

You can go with slightly higher compression pistons. 8:1 is pretty low. I would go with 9:1 as long as premium is readily available for you. Good choice on the turbo. You don't have to get a wideband if you don't want. You could save some cash if you get rid of the wideband and the SAFC in favor of a tuned ECU. E-mance ECUs is operated by a member on this forum and has very good prices on tuned ECUs. You said you have a KA24E, but you listed a KA24DE manifold. That will not work, so you will have to find something else (and $150 is very cheap for a manifold, unless it is used).Don't forget to upgrade your fuel system. You will need a Walbro fuel pump and probably around 550cc injectors. Also, at those power levels you have just broken into the zone where you will need a 300zx (N62) MAF. You will also need an oil line feed and return kit.

IIRC, you have to also change the lower sections of the front fenders (that section that goes in front of the front wheels). Maybe try doing a search for chuki bumper swap? Maybe there is a HOW-TO writeup done on it.

i have a 95 240sx SE. i have stance gr coilovers and the car is dropped about an inch or so on the factory se rims. im looking at new rims and wanna kno which of the two combinations would fit better with my drop.

17x7 with 215/45R17or18x7.5 with 225/40R18

im looking for rims that will fit the car and drop well, but also wont reduce the performance too much. i was leaning more toward 17s but im a little uncertain if 17x7 with 215/45R17 with have too much of a gap in the wheel wells. with 18s, im scared they will be too big and i will start having to mess with the camber. help please? and pics if possible for assurance?

Well, you should also be looking at what offsets the rims come in. They will determine whether or not your wheels sit flush with your fenders. I have 18s on my S13 with 235 tires and I don't have any rubbing issues at all. My tires are pretty old and worn though haha.

All your questions would probably get answered better in the Wheels & Tires forum. zeroforum/140Linked for your convenience

I would go for a complete ECU. As for pistons, I would go for some 9:1 forged pistons. The brand doesn't REALLY matter, just go with whatever is available. You might want to search through the classifieds too. Sometimes people buy this stuff and don't get around to using it, and you can basically find brand new stuff for less than they cost new.

Well, if money is tight, and you want to keep it as simple as possible, and are going to keep it at or under about 220 hp, you should be all right with an FMU (rising rate fuel pressure regulator)and walbro fuel pump.

You should probably go with a piggyback so you can upgrade in the future if you want to crank up the boost a little bit, which you will definitely want to do. That or go balls out right from the get go and get a tuned ECU. If that were the case, go with T3/T4 hybrid. If you just want 7 psi and are on a budget and are planning on going with the FMU, go with the T3.

No, an FMU is definitely not as good as a piggyback, but if you are only going for ~220hp or under, they are adequate. In addition to your list, you are going to need a fuel pump and new injectors to warrant the purchase of the piggyback. You will also need a new filter and method to mount it, including couplers and other stuff.

stock 240 exhaust is 2.25"

I've never heard of that muffler, but it looks decent. It also says it will be quiet, so your guess is as good as ours. You could probably get that one with the 2.5" inlet, but you will have to bring it to a muffler shop to get a reducer installed, but you will also need hangers installed on that muffler so you will be going there anyway (unless you have a welder).

Well, the link you sent me had a 2.5" inlet. You'd have to make a reducer so you can adapt it down to 2.25". If you have a welder and all that fun stuff, you could just take the muffler to a muffler shop and get them to make you a reducer. Actually, I think they sell reducers and stuff at Autozone. Or you could just buy a 2.25" inlet muffler.

You should be able to figure it out once you get everything in front of you. Exhaust clamps should be able to clamp the muffler to the pipe/reducer just fine, but you will need the welder for the hangers. Make sure that the muffler is made out of a metal that you have the ability to weld.

No, it is definately NOT a waste. If you can find everything you need, you'll be fine. The reason a lot of people convert to the DE is because of better aftermarket support. The SOHC can put down really good numbers.

I'm new here. UKDM 200sx turbo, and I am looking for some new wheels and suspension upgrades. I looked in the Tire/Wheel/Brake/Suspension forum thread 'Where to buy' but many of the links are dead. Can someone recommend me a reputable website or 6 that sells wheels and suspension upgrades?

Hey Papasmurf I just read you wrote 4.08 gear ratio. I don't mean to doubt you because I am still new to nissan but I thought it was like 3.08. If it was 4.08 wouldn't I be running like 3500rpm at 55mph with my stock wheels? I only ask because I am considering changing the gear ratio but if it is actually 4.08 then I won't change it, but it doesn't seem like it is 4.08.

The rear end has a ratio of 4.08:1. That means that for every 1 spin of the driveshaft, the axles spin roughly 4 times. The transmission has different gear ratios for every gear, 4th gear is about 1:1 and 5th is .758 (I think).

I'm working on this one too...

EDIT: should be fixed now. Try to buy from our sponsors first. Some of our sponsors specialize in pretty much everything you can imagine for the S-chassis. Enjuku racing is one of them, and have been a NICO sponsor for a long, long time. Phase2motortrend is also a great sponsor.

Should be bottom driver side corner, a plastic screw.

Yes it is illegal in most states, your cat is what turns harmful carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide and water.
