well I'm sorry if I offend all you s13 style fans out there..I'm thinking of buying an s13 in my area, but I'm really not diggin the pop-up lights. It really does bother me, so is there a relatively inexpensive (under 1k) way to switch to the s14 lights or would it be better off for me to buy the s14 model?

If you can do all the body work yourself it will cost you about 1k in parts. However, it's a significant amount of body work if you use stock parts.

I'd say buy the S14, if you dislike the way a car looks that much, dont buy it.

Dauntt, what are you talking about here? I think the s13 silvia front is a bolt on affair if you get everything...I don't know about s14 though..you're probably right there.

they are both bolt on if you get all of the parts. It is just time consuming, and can be rather frustrating as certain parts have to go on in a certain order.

Wow, those GRIM lights are the first set of flush mount lights I have seen for the S13 that I actually like. I'd definetely go with those over the eastbears

I don't know what everyone else calls it, but make your pop ups do that "lazy eye" thing where you replace the lamps inside and they only sit half way up. In my opinion that is even better than the silvia conversion (except the strawberry)

Why are lights like that so ? You could make your own for only the 1/4 of the price. The only way I can see that they cost so much is if they make thier lights by hand like every single part. If they bring down thier prices I could see alot of people buying them b/c thier bad a$$. Any way who would spend over a grand for lights when they could use that money to go faster.

I was thinking the same. I wonder about the functionality of those lights. Time spent for those types of mods is usually pretty short, and proper specs are probably ignored. I'd bet they're more for show than anything else. I wouldn't expect a lot of light.

Nick.

This is the diagram i used. The switch was like 4 bucks and i had some extra wire laying around. Basically what the switch does, it interupts the power to the headlights when you push the big light button on or off. So you push the button flip the lights up, then you flip the little switch to off, then you push the big button again and you will see the lights wont flip back down. Heres the tricky part, you have to flip the little switch fast enough (on then back to off) to get the headlights down to the height you want them at. You get used to it and can do it on the first flip like me :)

Ive been thinking of revising that. Instead of a flip switch, i would used a rotary knob to control power flow to the headlights so the go down slowly enough to your desired height. So off to radio shack i go to test out my little theory....

Yeah I saw it first hand tonight..it looks pretty nice! He needs to figure out how to hook up a rotary knob like the Pivot controller though!

Anyway..I take back my original statement...you're not a complete cheap a*s :D
