$6000 for the car a year and a half ago. Not a dime spent on maintenance except for the front main seal, and front/rear rotors/pads.240's are reliable if you treat them as such.

Probably around $5000 worth of modifications.Sometimes I wonder where I get this money...

I bought my car for 3500. Probably spent a good 1000 on it after that doing stuff like a header, cut the springs(no money there) exhaust(stolen no money there) intake, and doing stupid ricer stuff. Now I just finished my engine swap (oh god, maybe 2000 right there?) 3 inch greddy evo all the way back, new intake, intercooler, piping, bov, ecu tunned, god, it goes on to...Im probably in the total of 10,000 probably. Seeing as i got a new paint job in there too and just maintence.

good lord, my list is more expensive than a lot of yours, i mean i dont ahve it started yet but my plans for my 240sx when i calculated them the toher day came out to exactly $9631.96 not including shipping cost, the car itself, body repair and if i need someone to install, so thats a good bit of money

I bought my car for $2500, just bought a $2200 dollar motor, getting another $3500 worth of parts to install with the motor, and installation is going to be around $1000-1500. And I still need to get it painted, thank God for personal loans:)

Its close to $10,000 when you add it up, alot of people ask me why I didnt just buy a newer car for that money, but I wouldnt be nearly as happy with a $10,000 dollar car that can go about half as fast as mine or look as good(imo)as mine will. Its worth the wait to me.

Figure I will jump on the bandwagon:

93' Fastback SE 71,000 miles(exactly, 88,000 now) when I bought her: $5,900

A'PEXi N1 Duals: $430 J30 LSD: $230 + $50 installation Sunny Carbon-Fiber Hood: $300(friend's) w/Sparco Hood Pins Used Enkei RS-6's 16's: $450 w/ tires from a friend C-West Headlight Intake: $80 + $20 for paint (ricey I know) Sylvania Silverstars: $50 H & R sport springs: $200 OBX Short Shifter Gen. 2: $90 Clear Corners: $35 + $10(light bulbs) T3/T04e Turbonetics Turbo: $345 JGS Tools Manifold + Wastegate extension: $275 TiAl 38mm Wastegate: $190 SAFC II Lim. ED.: $230(SCORE!) 370cc Injectors: $80 Greddy EGT w/sensor: $80(SCORE!)

And that is only the beginning, I don't count oil changes or gas. I love my car to death and only more money will be spent as I have to get closer to turbo KA point.

car = $800repairs to bring it back to stock = $500$5000 paint job = $300 all my parts = about $4400 total, sr included, that i paid.

so about $6000, but retail would be around 12k plus installation costs...

Lets see.. Bought my 90' Hatch for 1300 back in January, paid 40 bucks for Sparco shift knob, and called it a day :)

Now I need a battery, new hatch piece, should get Silvia front end cause the front is kinda F'ed up... Need seats, console, exhaust...

I'm torn between selling the girl and buying a 95' 240sx, or biting the bullet and just replacing EVERYTHING on it.

All in all I'm in it $1,340.

Edit: I just noticed I bought my car like 2 weeks before I joined this website. *sniffle*

I'm afraid that i would be ill if i added it up. I guess one day i will if i get bored. We'll just say.....I spent $5500 on the car and i keep a 2 page list of upgrades done to the car that i have saved on a disc. And as far as reliability....I've had several 240s and several nissans and never had any trouble out of any of them. With the exclusion of experimenting with the turbo set up and going through 5 KA's. But that's a totally different story.

I only hope my next girlfriend shares half the enthusiasm in these cars as I do. My last one didn't...

GirlRacer, if you had it to do over again, would u have still turboed the KA? I've been torn between doing that to mine, or going RB25...(If I do that though I'm definetly buying a 95' S14 and selling my hatch)

I have a feeling if I keep the cost under 20 grand by the time I 'm done modding, it'll be a miracle. Whether I build up my hatch, buy an S14 and mod, do the RB25 swap I've always wanted to do, or do the KA turbo option... There's no getting around it.. I'm destined to hit that 20k...

A billion times over...YES! I love my KA-T. I would not do anything differently than what I did. My ex was an idiot and screwed around with my engines. He blew up 5 of them. The up side of that is I know what will and won't blow and at what point. So this engine is built to the max. I guess it all depends on what you want. It's a lot easier to swap an already turbo engine into your car and not worry about it. But for me, I like the challenge of doing something a little harder. And my KA-T has been running strong for 2 years now.....just takes a lil testing to get it all right. My vote is KA-T!!! :D
