What I'm asking here is, How many of you guys had 240sx's for first cars when they wanted to really get into performance, and how many were fighting with another chassis or breed to try and get them to do what they wanted to do.

I for one made the mistake of fussing witha Z31 for the last 5 years. Yeah that was a mistake. In the short few months of owning my two 240sx's, i love them more than i loved my z31 ever.

and my old z wasn't exactly a beater, either.

but with the huge aftermarket available for these cars, incredible rear suspension design, and chassis balance between stiff and light, i am just in love with these cars. ANd to top it off i get to keep the powertrain from my 300! I don't think i can ever go wrong with the S13 now.

My first car was a 240sx 89', Christmas present. I didn't realy now much about the whole import scene so I really didn't do anything to it. Then one of boy's told me all this stuff about honda's which really didn't help at all so i came here reading up info. I started out with the veilside kit then i was suppose to get a SR until some girl totaled it. The car that i have now is a 90' sx...hmm born to be 240 owner i guess...

I have always owned trucks. I swore I would never buy a car, until one of my jobs required a daily commute of 45 miles each way. My first car was a 95 Escort GT. (K&N filter-charger Intake, Thrush Pipes and Muffler, Fomoco Cams) That car got run over by a plow truck (yeah, with me in it)! Then I bought my 95 240sx, about 3 years ago. (AEM intake, GReddy Header, Apexi N1 Dual, FAL electric fans)

I had a 90 chevy beretta as my first car, it was free so I couldn't complain. Then I bought a POS jetta for 1000, drove that thing into the ground, then bought a 2001 cavalier. I know it was dumb but I needed a car and it was cheap. Then I meet up with an old friend and he had a 240, at first I was like what the hell is that, then I drove it and fell in love with it. I got lucky a couple months later and found my 96 240 SE for 9000, this was about a year ago, when I bought it blue book was 10200. The car was in perfect condition so I snatched it up. I love this car I will never get rid of it.

Ugh... way back in high school, like 5 years ago, the only people who 'raced' was this little group of people. Composed of course of Accord, Integras, CRX, so these are the people that inspired me to get into racing, so I bought an Accord, modded it a little bit, then realized I couldn't beat anything with it and started looking into other cars. My buddy is diehard Nissan, so he told me to do the illustrious SR20 swap into a 240. So I started researching it about 2 years ago, bought my 240 last August, and now I am dropping the SR20 in this weekend.

My first car was a 91' s13 FB LE that was dropped apon me durring 97'. I wanted a 77' coupe deville and was like wtf is this.....

Took me a cpl short days to realize what this was and fell in love :) . I only had it for about 4 months before it ate a tree though. Since it was a gift my parents took the 7k we got in insurance (payed 3500 for it back then from a friend of thiers, and the accident wasnt my fault) and got me an 88 grand prix.

I hated that thing, and every day wished I had another 240. I drove the **** out of it for 2 yrs, baja'd it, got into a small accident (not my fault) and spent the 1300$ entirely on the sound system, after all thats all I could do with it. I think I had around 3k$ plus just in sound equip in it, and the car was only 4k hehe. It had 48k on it when I got it, and 2 yrs later had 120k miles on it.

I mabey spent a week checking out 2nd gen rx7s after seeing one in near mint condition but dirt cheap.... but that didnt last long and I was out gawking at 240's again. One day my tastes shifted from the s13 to the S14b so my obsession went with that.

Got my 96 SE in nov of 99' and couldnt of been happier. I still walk outside and smile as I see my car, and have to touch it as I walk by hehe. I may not have kept her as clean on the outside as I would have liked but she is damn sure as healthy as a thoroughbred :) If some dumbf**k doesnt hit me, this one is mine for ever. If time arises and I want a different auto as well, Ill keep this one and just get a new car.. Dunno what, but out of whats available it would probably be a 350z, if the time was now. The 240 would still be driven alot and mabey turn into a 80% dedicated track car.

Im a 240sx born fool.. :)

I used to have a 1997 Nissan pickup. I loved that truck (KA24E), it was automatic though. It only ran 17.9@74mph.. hehe.. I had a few bolt-ons on it. It was tight. It had almost as much top end pull as my 240. Anyway, somone fell asleep and hit my truck and I got about 7k for it and got my 95. Then blew like 2k fixing various crap on it. Never complained once. I love my 240!

My first car was a 1986 Nissan 200SX nonturbo version. I loved the car a lot and was suprised for over 250,000 miles that I kept up with a ford probe. I still got beat but it was only by a bumper. I burnt mad oil, had no exhaust, NO AC, somewhat of a radio, and purple faded tint.

Then I bought my 92 S13 hatcback for 2,000 and still runs like a champ. I think I will always own a Nissan.

Wasn't into cars at all when I got my first car....94 Sentra XE. Then I picked up an 85zxt...worste mistake I ever made (but the drivetrain was amazing, the rest of the car was sh*t). Then I picked up a 96 240.

Matt, are you using custom mounts? Or some crossmember to drop the VG in? Are you gonna be using Nissdata for it...

my first car was a 91 honda civic. It was a great car. I got the performance bug when I owned that car... alright.. don't flame me for that coment... but seriously... I did everything to that car myself.. I mean everything. That baby never saw a mechanic for anything. but it got totaled... and I had always wanted a 240. 95+ pearl white... I waited 4 months... 4 months of borrowing cars.. getting rides... riding my bike... finally I saw my 95 and fell in Love with it and bought it the next day! funny thing is... I didn't know how to drive a stick untill my 240... and I drove her home without stalling it or anything!! but I burnt the clutch in like 2 months of getting it. =). expensive lesson but I drive like a race driver now... over all... I am very happy with my car and I would wait for a year if I had to do it over just so I could get my dream car!!! =)

First car was actually a truck. it was a 79 GMC Sierra, and it was a piece of crap. Had it for about a year and ran the pee pee out of it till I blew the engine. Next vehicle was a 74 super beetle, that car kicked booty, but I had to get rid of it to buy a "more dependable car" So my daddyo got me a 99 cavalier for a graduation present. Car was good until the transmission fooked up. Then the dealership wouldn't fix it so I just put on some konis, sportlines, swaybars and STB's on it and autocrossed the ever living hell out of it. I made like 250 runs in 3 months and went through 3 sets of tires :)

Then I blew up the transmission totally, stripped it back to stock and used the money to pick up my '90 240 FB for a grand. the BEST decision I have ever made except for marrying my lovely wife who just bought me some S14 seats for it :D

My first car was my 1993 Ford Probe GT. It was awesome, I loved that car so much. I drove it happily for 2 years until I finally reached the point where I just felt it was time to move on. I'd always wanted to never sell my first car, but there was no way I could afford a second car without doing so, so I broke down and let it go. I miss it dearly but don't really regret it. :)

My 2nd car was a non-running 1989 Mazda RX-7 TurboII which I bought for $500 while I still had my PGT. The intention was for this to be a project car and eventually get it running and completely restored, but I realized I didn't have the time or money for it, and sold it. Not only did I get my $500 back, but I'd sold the engine block that was in the car separately for $200, so I actually made money off the whole thing.

My 3rd and current car is my 1996 Nissan 240sx SE. I bought it from a friend of mine after falling in love with it from riding in and driving it a few times. The handling was amazing and comparable to that of RX-7s (my at the time automotive love), it looked great, and was reasonably affordable. I'd always liked 240s anyway. I also highly enjoyed the fact that it was RWD and a 5-speed...my PGT was unfortunately an ATX.

Anyway, my friend ended up offering to sell me his car and I bought it for $5000. I've still got about 1k to pay off, but it's worth it. I definitely love this car.

lol, my first car was and is a 91 240 fastback, i like it in the fact that i rarley have problems with it and it handles well, but i dont like it in the fact that its an automatic( i didnt care what it was at the time i bought the car) and that i lose almost every race because its slow. i lost to a stock saturn sl2, 3 times, roll stop and 2 dead stops, i dont have the money to do an sr20 swap at this time but im savin for one and hopefully by summer time i will have enough , but until then i will continue to lose. ok,i feel better now.
