as far as i know there are actually two 2.2l motors from Honda. The H22 and an F22 that i think was in some accords. And the H22 with ~220hp is actually originally out of the Japanese Prelude Type S, which then made its way into the Accord.

J-Spec Tuner wrote:the A22 i belive is another one, at least i think thats whats in US 3rd gen accords.
There is no A22, the motor that was used in the 3rd gen accord was the b20 (2 liter) the 4th and 5th gen accords use an F22 series motor, 1st and 2nd gen uses the older es2 and es3 carbuerated engines.
nlzmo400r wrote:i am unaware of any use of a 'b22', the only 2.2 liter that i know of that honda has made in recent years is the h22, the euro accord R got 216hp @ 72oorpm and 162.74ft lbs of tq at 67oorpm, which is very close to hte h22's power figures (assuming they added a lil power for the 'R' factor) , this motor is also 2156cc (2.2liters), and was a 4dr, which i never understood

This motor is also used in the JDM prelude type-s with the same power numbers
musicsurfman wrote:SO WHAT SI GOT THE 2.2L WITH 220HP. I KNOW ITS A B22. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE PRELUDE. OHH WELL I GOT THE CARS WRONG BUT I KNOW I GOT THE ENGINES RIGHT. THE CARS SUCK ANYWAY ITS THE POWERPLANT THAT I WANT.

The USDM prelude si actually has the 2.3 liter H23 (DOHC non-vtec) the USDM Prelude VTEC has the 200hp H22

Just my 2cents

you people seem to know a lot more about hondas than i do. my friend has a B20 and wants to make it Vtec and he told me that he can fit a B18 Head on it. i said why not just get the whole B18 engine. but anyway is it possible to do that?

yea its possible, with boring of the head of course, hondas are easily modifiable, and all being 'B' series motors, tehy can make countless hybrids out of them

hondas suck.. really.

its all about torque curves. theres so much fapping over the NSX, which also sucks. the z06 spanks the nsx is every way possbile, even in the infamous TwIsTiEzzzz.

toyota/dsm have been making 100hp/L motors with WAY broader curves before honda even had a b16a. hondas suck, and im not saying that because im some anti-honda nazi.. its because they actually suck.

sure, you can make them run 10's. drop enough money fixing everythign wrong with any engine and it'll run 10's. fast hondas are FAR from stock. strap a cheapass $1K turbo on your KA, and a 1K turbo on a b16a and see which is faster. hondas were never made to go fast. they were made to get great gas mileage thru technology and lightweight.

everyones now ****ting their pants because the RSX is getting like 250hp and 170tq at the wheels na.. oh wow! nissan/dsm/toyota 2.0L motors can break 300/300, usually on stock internals.

so honda can pull 100hp/L na.. everyone else has been making more hp/L and tq/L with broader curves since the 90's with turbos.

honda sucks and deserves no respect. its the geo metro of the compact car performance world.

^werd. the SR can handle around 400 on stock internals, and if im working this out right, thats 200hp per L. hmmm. and the RB, 800 on stockies, i think. plus an a$$ load of torque. and i dont think japan will be getting rid of the gentlemens agreement of "no car can make more than 280hp"

did anyone catch the little part in the article where the guy was talking about how its made, the body. balsa wood and composites!! hmm, something about a balsa wood car just scares me.

:withstup

yeah so a $500 CRX and a $2000 B16 motor swap wouldnt beat any thing, its so slow in the 1/4mile and turns for crap :rolleyes

and nissan/toyota/mitsubishi N/A 2.0 liters make so much more power than honda N/A 2.0 liters (read: sarcasm)

PS, i saw a cool azz Geo Storm in SCC, AWD turbo 1.6 liter. Dont hate, appreciate.

Actually, B20 is nothing but another B16 or a b18. My friend has a b20 block, with the Vtec of a B16. They are bolt on. The oil hole is already been templated, so it's a piece of cake. The reason people wants the b20 because of it's tq. It has the MOST tq in the B series engine. Know why? Cause it was orignated from the SUV, which requires TQ. A stock B20 in a civic ran 14.5-15 all day.

The H23a came in the 92-96 preludes the USDM h23 (DOHC non-vtec) had 160hp crank horsepower and the JDM H23 had 200HP the USDM H22a (DOHC Vtec) has 200HP

ooo, so i was wrong, thanks for the correct info, sorry for the false information guys, and i know about the b2o's torque, because it comes out of a crv, but i didnt know the b16 head would 'bolt on' to the b2o block, and why would honda make the h23 with no vtec for usdm with 16ohp and 2oohp for japanese (did they get a vtec head?)

i still like honda, i woulndt neccesarily buy one, but i like them and respect them for what they are, i drove an o1 prelude yesterday, it was quick as hell once u hit vtec, but until then, the power seemed way to lackluster for me, no tq, but if honda makes a motor with substantial torque in a compact car, for a decent price, i would def consider buying one

blah blah blah ...who cares ... they are still slow no matter what and my point was ... why are we wasting NICO space on a Honda discussion?

you can say that this honda is fast ... well you even stated it has a turbo! ...

it just gets old everybody gabbing on and on about Honda on a Nissan forum

No offense but that is the same elitest attitude that tends to make boards suck, and by suck i mean suck azz.....

the S2000 is a very hot car, it looks way better than any 240 i have seen stock (the s14a is about even) and it will kick the sht out of most people's cars on this forum in stock form, how can you not give respect to that?

My neighbor has a pretty nice Honda Mower. its a real beast when the VTEC kicks in. i was thinking of doing a LS swap and maybe a turbo so i can mow the lawn in like sub 12 second times.

yes but its not always the engine to look at, the nsx is one of the most well balanced cars ever built, and you dont need crazy powre to make it a sports car, like i, one of the best suspensoins ever built, is teh GTR not a sports car??! its got about 3oohp our of a straight 6, hell look at the lotus elise, 197hp and will run rings around cars with much more power,
