Mrfox sounds very intelligent. and well as for the porsche boxster, i would take a s2000 over a boxster any day. my opinion s2000 has the 2nd sweetest looking taillights after the mkiv supra.

Well the BMW M3 3.2L makes 333hp.Then the Porsche GT3 thats NA and i belive makes 128 hp/L, it was in this months (or last) Car&Driver i belive. had a 3L v8 and made 380 something HP. i know the numbers are off, but they said its the highest hp/L production car ever tested.

I think hondas makes great cars, would i own one, maybe if I fit i the S2000, but i also like the ITR, GSR, RSX, and ludos. just alot of other cars i injoy more, and RWD more.

I should stop posting on this, its like writing on the walls in the bath room to tell the people that have writin things that they are stupied for writing on the walls of the bathroom.

OK I DEAL WITH THESE KINDS OF CARS ALL THE TIME.

PORSCHE BOXTER: SPORTS CAR, BUT IN NO RESPECT FAST AS IT SITS FOR THE $ TAG

CORVETTE Z06: SPORTS CAR, FAST FOR THE $ TAG

SKYLINE GTS-T: SPORT COUPE OR SEDAN, SOMEWHAT FASTSKYLINE GTR: SPORTS CAR, MEDIUM FAST FOR TAG

HONDA CIVIC: SPORT/ECONOMY COMPACT(DEPENDS ON MODEL), NOT FAST AS IT SITS

HONDA ACCORD: LUXURY SEDAN(IN US ONLY), MEDIUM FAST FOR TAG

HONDA PRELUDE: LUXURY/SPORTS COUPE, MEDIUM FAST FOR TAG

HONDA S2000: SPORTS CAR, FAST FOR TAG

HONDA NSX: SPORTS CAR, SEMI-FAST FOR TAG

THIS IS WHAT INSURANCE COMPANIES LIST THESE CAR AS, AND WHAT I PERSONALLY/CAR AND DRIVER FEEL ABOUT THE POWER OF THESE CARS ARE.

I DON'T KNOW? BUT THIS IS A HOAX, IF YOU WANT PROOF LOOK INTO THE S2K BOARDS AND THE PERSON WHO WROTE IT WILL EXPLAIN WHAT THEY WANTED TO ACHIEVE. BUT THOSE CARS THAT I LISTED ARE WHAT THEY ARE TITLED BY INSURANCE COMPANIES.

Its a really well written "hoax"... regardless, the result is unconventional, intriguing, and somewhat believable (had me going too when I first read it). The transmission/generator/hybrid idea is very a refreshing read.

This person did what alot of board members are trying to do in this thread: define one's own interpretation of what a proper sports car should be. He did a damn fine job at expressing his own views on this.

I myself prefer cars like the Lotus Elise, Toyota MR2, over cars like the Nissan Skyline. I would care less how anyone else catalogrises these vehicles. (except my insurance agent of course :pface )

Look I apologize if anyone got offended by any of my comments on this thread but in my personal opinion a civic is just an economy car and a 240sx is an economy car with a sport touch... and if you have to add turbo to these vehicles I dont think they are sports cars..I just think they are modified econo cars...

anyway I love my 240 its got good economy and a little pep ...

so dont take any offense and somebody please close this thread its gone so far into left field 10 search parties couldnt find it.

** under my breath **You don't have to turbo charge a honda to make it fast

** Ok back to normal **How about we just jack it. What is your ideal sports car? I'm gonna make a thread in general...

well this thread has totally gotten out of hand. first of since its a hoax, how come this thread has six pages????? second, to put my two cents in, hondas really arent that bad. they are just too popular to us. we like to be unique and i think thats y we own a 240sx. next, there are only three cars that i think we would ever own from honda. this would be the integra type r, the last generation prelude, and the s2000. the nsx isnt in the list b/c if we had 70 or 90 thousand to throw around, would we really buy a honda????? (hint: viper) my reasoning for those three cars: the integra type r has a hand built engine, and its resale value goes up instead of down, the prelude was dirt cheap for the power (200hp for a measly 21 grand from the dealer), the s2000 b/c lord knows 240 horses from a 4 cylinder NA is ridiculous. my next car will personally be an s2000. i dont see why people would purchase any other convertible besides it. (except the 350z) other than that the rest of the honda line up applies to families or economy thinkin people. thats my 2 cents.

I've never witnessed the value of an Acura, let alone an integra (type R, type anything), go up in value.

I don't consider *any* front wheel drive car a sports car, and just because the 240sx is rwd doesn't mean it gets a free ticket, its 'sporty' but definitely not a sports car.

This is a thread that can go on forever because of people's different and sometimes ignorant views.

Not trying to flame you, but did he try selling it for that? The edmunds 18K value?

oh no he didnt try to sell it for that nor does he want to sell it, but we see 2001 integras in good condition goin for 18 thous. i know its off topic, but i think the final year of the integras was perfected. just some fyi. but you do have a valid point lbrowne. no fwd car is a sports car and neither is the 240. the 240 is just that perfect mix of economy and sports. if it was a true sports car, it would have sports car power with sports car suspension. it does still out handle anything in its price range in my own opinion

you got that right jookmasta, the 240sx has a little bit more than the next car as far as handling and power goes, I have an 89 so back then she faired well against the competition when you take her horsepower and configuration into account. :)

I don't doubt they perfected the integra in its final year, just I never seen them go up in value :) (believe me, I'd like to have an integra :) )

well just for the record, i have never disrespected hondas becuase they are hondas, i disrespect the drivers, and only SOME of them, some of hte coolest guys and girls ive met drive hondas, the reason why u see so many more fast hondas on the track, is because the parts are much more readily available, and while we're on the hp/Liter thing here, i praise the 3.2liter NSX motor for its 292hp, and sure hondas known for 1oohp/liter motors, but as far as n/a, the obvious record holder is the new RENISIS rotary motor, 1.3liter 25ohp, now thats amazing, sure its lacking torque, but so are ALL hondas, it all depends on what the car maker is shooting for, and actually there are two ways of measuring the rotary motors (this has been discussed in SCC, for all u guys who are wondering how) so technically it could be a 2.6liter, none the less, 25ohp is still pretty damn amazing, and as i said before, i love hondas, but im just a nissan guy, plain and simple

Psst...sorry to butt in like this, but insurance (most insurance co's.) have the 240 listed as a sport COUPE (I know mine does...and a few of the others I've called to get quotes on). Have a nice day.

I really should have like double underlined and bolded that...turned it red or something.

Basically, almost any RWD car is considered to be a 'sports car' to most, if not ALL insurance companies - just a fact. Just think of all the RWD cars produced in the last ten years - how many would you consider to be a 'sports car'? I think the ins. companies would point at almost all of them, leaving out VERY few.

As for FWD cars, I think the insurance companies have jaded minds, to think that the following cars are sports cars

Ford ProbeVW A3 Jetta /Golf (2v 2.0)And many others that I'm too tired to mention right now...

aight since we are on this newayz here is my opinion of what a sports car should be. first of all either rear wheel drive or all wheel drive. second of all i think a sports car should have an adequate amount of n/a power...something along the lines of atleast 80 horses per liter. third a sports car should be a coupe since a convertible is clearly defined as a sports roadster. and 4th of all a sports car shouldnt be pricey or have luxury items.

acording to the old school the definition of a sports car is as follows...

"a two-seater, preferably open, that can, in a pinch, be raced."

That is from numerous C&D articles and is the british theory. Oah and they invented the whole thing back just before WWII

Unfortunately, the insurance companies aren't as realistic with their method(s) of categorizing even the least 'sporty' of automotives, and jacking their clients with a top-dollar premium. :shocked2

THATS THE TRUTH. MY 240 WHEN I GOT IT INSURED IT WAS CONSIDERED A SPORTS CAR. MY INSURANE WAS SO HIGH I HAD TO GO WITH A 1G DEDUCTABLE.

Ok, I fell for the article. I'm not that familiar with Hondas so I simply believe what I was reading. I would like to see the car come out as specified in the article. I think it would help the industry as a whole.

As far as sport car definitions, I think they are very subjective now. I don't consider the 240 a sports car...but I do consider the Silvia a sports car. Just like everyone here has already said, the 240 has the handling of a sports car, but it lacks the power. Add more power and voila, you have a sports car.

one of my favorite cars ever was the mazda 787B, it won lemans in 199o, it was the only car from a japanese automaker to win, i thought that was quite an achievement, and while we're on the subject of hp/liter, the new ferrari enzo has 1o8hp/liter (65ohp/6.o liter v12) , o yea, and it shattered the mclarens records as well ;)
