This is a picture of the front of a GTR headlight. The side profile is very long. I'm just using this as reference, but i'm thinking of trying to have the rogue headlights retrofitted to have this look.
I can have the housing painted and put a projector and shroud just like this in.

But i'm looking for suggestions on mod ideas.

One thing that i thought of was when the turn signal area was painted to section it off to be less arrowy and leave the chrome in the pocket where the bulb sits.

I'm going to do a template that shows what i'm talking about and ill post it later.

thnx.

That would be sweet if you could pull that off.

Maybe this thread can help you.

Yes sir Im going to get a kit with shroud and ballast. The regular halogen version will be a lot easier to mount the bulbs to because of placement of the projectors.
I haven't quite figured out which ones will look best. Like i said, this will be a long, long, long, project to accomplish.

Here is a diagram of what i'm blacking out.
everything that is highlighted red wont get blacked out.
I'm also still unsure what to do about the reflector.

My first idea at attempting the retrofit was the xenon version.
If it gets down to it, i may go that route.
Because of the adjuster.

I would love to find a wrecked rogue with the harness and controls on the dash.
I would def go that route if i could find one.

iv done this job with a 350z projector into my bikes headlight when it was a street bike.

how are you going to wire an after market HID kit to the stock HID system?

I don't currently have HID on my rogue, I would do it the same as the halogen headlight using the kit, I would just have the ability to move the projector up and down by the adjuster manually.

eBay seller Benwood Auto Parts has parts from a wrecked '11 Rogue up for auction. Back half is totally demolished, but the front looks fine. You could try contacting them to see you you could get. 1-888-692-2715.

before i go the xenon route, im going to try the hologen way, as far as the housing is concerned.

Thanks for the idea, though.

I think this is what im going to be aiming for. If i can get it to this point, ill be happy.

I really like the way that looks man. I just got a question... If you black out all the mirrorish silver in the housing wouldnt that affect the anount of light produced? Doesnt the light reflect off all that?

Also if I opened the housing to black it out would it be possible to pull out that horendous orange reflector?

he's using the projector, so its got its own internal light collection bowl that reflects the light. with projectors you dont need any of the exterior to be chrome.

and yes you can remove the orange reflector. i flan on wrapping that in carbon fiber ;)

One of the main things i might be reducing is my turn signal visibility, If you notice the turn signal light is directed to the reflective chrome along the inside of the chrome next to where the brights are, so that it is visible at night, which is a cool design element. I just don't think they did a good job with the aesthetic of the headlight. When every single one of the rogue competitors are putting projectors in their suvs. Doesn't make any sense.

I was very interested in the rear view mirror turn signal's down the road.

So after all this is said and done, i may do that next.

I cant wait to see that ! In the 6 or so years that the rogue has been out, i have only seen 2 online with headlight mods.

THATS BECAUSE ITS A MAAAAAJOR PAIN IN THE A55. iv done it on a bike, and then ive done it for a few forum members on the bike forums, and i charged about $500/each (with parts & labor) SERIOUSLY, ITS A MAJOR PAIN, but has great pay offs.

yea i like the carbon fiber idea... when you do this take pics and make a how to =P

I get nervous opening the housing because i feel i'll never seal it as good and water will build up inside.

Oh, and yea i see what your talking about with the turn signal using the chrome... i kind of knew all this already but had to ask.

Not a bad idea for CF housing but the thing is if that vinyl ever peel off...will you split the headlight again? I would put only solid/trusted pieces. Here's couple ideas for you that I never finished. You could replace the whole idea of turn signal with new assembly for example here's ready to go from f150 corner:
Image
Also I had DRL/Turn signal switchback stripes around the whole headlight:

Yeah, i just posted that for ImStricken's benefit. I'm sure the only way he does anything, is the correct way since most of what he does ends up
looking good.

I have considered butchering another style headlight housing and somehow adhering the parts to the inside of the rogue's
to complement the shape of the projector. It has a pretty shapeless housing, and in my opinion most cars that benefit
from the retrofit are ones with round housings. I don't want to spend much more money, so i would look only if i could
get there dirt cheaper. Because i consider myself already over budget.

BTW, that video is insane. Is that yours?

I see your projector now, so im guessing it is.
How many times have you taken your housing apart?

Just one more thing, how long did it take for you to take the housing apart, and how bad was the smell
when you had the headlight in the oven, if there was a smell.

xenon planet cancelled my order after two weeks of waiting. Back to square one. Talk about frustrating.

I was really wanting those shrouds for my mod.

Anyone have a suggestion on a replacement?

Yeah...I still have a housing with those leds but never actually went forward. Maybe I'll just put for sale my projectors  A lot of people for years used to say that projectors from LS460 are the best but with current new technologies (especially like bmw, benz etc.) I'm confused to say what's the best. Projectors with housing never been problem to find. Just google them under the price that you're ready to pay.

Back on track.

Found a place that had the shrouds.

Now i'm considering having them professionally done.

Just because i want them done right, and i have zero experience.

Sure i can paint, i can cut metal, i'm even comfortable tearing them apart.
Its the whole lining up the pattern i'm kinda worried about.

Hey Leo, It looks like the front of the headlight housing is attached with plastic pop rivets of some kind.
On the side of the clear plastic.
Is that the case? and if so do you figure it would be very difficult to remove them without issues?

BTW, nice rug.
