I've always had hatches. They're just so much more practical than sedans. I had an Elantra sedan for a while, it seemed like nothing fit in it because of the shape of the trunk and door openings. We bought a TV that I had to leave at the store and borrow a different vehicle because the box wouldn't fit thru the doors or into the trunk. Plus hatches just look better IMO

Hi, first time poster. My name's Iris.

I won't vote one way or another since I'm only looking at the Versa now and don't own one. But I just wanted to say that both the sedan AND the hatchback are attractive vehicles. In fact, the Versa sedan is not much smaller than my Corolla, has a much bigger trunk, and strongly resembles the latest generation Corolla. It is NOT ugly, in no way looks like an Echo (which truly WAS ugly with its Radio Flyer wheels). Of course, to each his own, but in MY opinion, if you consider the Versa sedan ugly what in the world does the Scion xB do for you?!

Someone mentioned being able to go to Target and bring home a bookcase or something? That's the one thing I miss, as a single person with only one car - a sedan. I would LEAN toward the hatchback, just because I miss the utility, and I had a devil of a time getting my peacock chair into my Corolla. But, I was looking at the Saturn S series wagon the last time I looked for a car, and ended up with a Corolla, so if I decide on a Versa sedan instead of the hatchback, it's not the end of the world.

There's a Blue Onyx sedan at a local dealer I'm considering going to test drive. Same lot also has a Black hatchback, both with the light colored interior I prefer. Hm. Do I go for the preferred bodystyle in the color I hate, or do I go with the color I prefer in the bodystyle I don't prefer but could stand? A black car in Oklahoma in the summer would be torture. Decisions...

Anyway, pleased to meet you all and just wanted to give my props to the sedan even though I don't own one. I can't wait to see how either one drives. Maybe I'll report back on my choice if I've made one.

Neither. You make your dealer get the body style you prefer in the color you prefer.

Thirty years ago I moved to Tulsa with a blue car slightly lighter than Blue Onyx. It wasn't a whole lot cooler than black, and my next car was a much lighter color!

Even now, in the Carolinas, I went with white for my Versa. My daughter's Versa is Magnetic Gray, and in the sun hers can feel warm to the touch while mine is still cool. I need to use my A/C much less than she does!

Hatch.I help out my friends bands a lot and I love that the seats fold down and there's enough room to cart their equipment back and forth.PLUS, I love the style of the back. The rear of the sedan looks a little cheesy.

I too love the style...thought I dont think the back of the sedan is cheesy I think it just doesnt really match up to the front end of the car.

Hatch...new versa owner, will be a week tomorrow. Went from a red Pontiac Grand Am V6 to the Versa and although I loved my Grand Am, I'm lovin the Versa too. Zippy little thing and cool looking too. I didn't want to drive a box on wheels and this sure isn't, plus the roominess inside is what sold me.

I have a black Sedan. If I could go back and do it again, I may have gotten the hatch for room but who knows. I got a good deal for an SL model and the trunk is actually a lot bigger than it seems from the outside. To me, the Sedan looks better. I like the factory taillights and it looks more serious than the hatch to me. It's tinted now and and as some people have said before on this forum, it sorta does look like a mini secret service car .

As I understand it, they suspended production of the sedan so they could produce more hatches. I suspect they'll resume production of the sedan once supply and demand for the hatch is rectified.

This post reminds me of the VW Golf vs Jetta threads, just ridiculous. It boils down to personal taste and what was on the lot when you bought your economy car. Most people who shop for this segment don't buy for looks and the Versa def doesn't win any beauty contest. I just happen to own a sedan and am quite happy with it. My last car was a Golf hatch and loved the versatility it had but I got it for the great 1.8t motor it had, secondly for looks.

Nothing anybody has to say about the hatch or about the sedan is going to make us change our minds and go trade in for the other so this thread is completely pointless. My V is a second car and if I choose to haul anything, I'll use my gas guzzler F-150 4x4.

There was no sedan when I got my hatch.

I'm curious - can anyone post a pic here of the New Zealand only wagon..?

Well it usually makes me vomit uncontrollably. as does the ugly element. whoever thought that brown, grey, black and red went together on one body had to have been color blind.

o and to stay semi on topic. Hatchback deff FTW

P.S.S .... Has anyone looked at that new ford flex? what an ugly boat-looking car

they didnt stop making the 6 speeds, they just dont offer them in SL packages anymore..... oh and i seen a sedan on the freeway today.... his eyes lit up when he saw my super black hatch pass him on the freeway... hopefully the versaspeed decal on the back window will encourage other versa drivers to buy after market parts....

I bought the sedan. I know the hatch is more versatile, but I actually like the looks of the sedan better. Guess it's just a matter of individual taste.

Interesting can of worms you opened..

Most on here have the hatch so that speaks volumes.. both are nice depends on the drivers needs.... the hatch does have more power due to less curb weight ex.

09' sedan 2745lbs09' hatchback 2722lbs

Every little bit helps in saving gas or gaining speed..

I owned a Sedan.. And it was nice and roomy, but If i do go get another V in a few months or something, I think i'm going to get a Hatchback.. I'm going to test drive it and see how i like it and the room, i do have a sub and a stroller to lug around with me..

So My choice is either a Blue Hatchback or a Blue or Silver Sedan.. We'll see when the time comes...

This is only you opinion for example in my place and many places in the world they found Versa very UGLY and it looks like any H/B car ,Peujeot 206,307,toyota echo,.... and if you check the car trunk of a sedan you will found it got more eye catch design and finaly we can't take the result of 94 voters for a final result

I think I saw a post a few back that said sedans aren't sporty? Admittedly The stock versa really lacked appeal..but once I dropped it and added some wheels and tint the WOW factor greatly increased....allow me to show you what I mean...

BEFORE.....

AFTER...
