If we had been looking for a sedan we would have gone with a Corolla or a Civic. In retrospect we probably should have since we aren't particularly happy with the Versa. The other two are both getting better mileage than the Versa and they have larger, higher horsepower engines.

True. We did.

This Versa's durability and reliability is going to go a long way to determining whether or not we remain Nissan customers in the future, though. Plus, we will never buy a car in its first model year again. We'll wait to see real-world results for a few model years before we buy another new car.

Hail no. This is our only car. I have suffered with the inability to carry stuff in sedans for 8 years now. No way I was getting a sedan. I like being able to go to Target, buy some big shelf thing, and take it straight home. I have wanted a hatch for YEARS but if you are buying used in the late 90s that means you can choose from....um.....a Civic SI? And a Daewoo? And not much else. I was elated when they started making small efficient reliable hatches again because that's what I have wanted to buy for the last 10 years.

BTW it really does look like a Hyundai Elantra's trunk glued on to the back of a hatch V.

If I had wanted a sedan I would've gotten a CVT Altima.

make it 45 HB's. HBFTW!!!!!!!!!

i really dont like the sedans AT ALL. they're just ugly IMHO. still a great car, and apart of the Versa family none-the-less. i just like the HB better. i've gotten a lot of compliments too!

just a little testiment to how great this car is, my friend Jeremy is a car salesmen and when i told him i bought a Versa he was like "Man you didn't come by a car from me? I could have gotten you better mileage." i told him "i dont think so dude." he said what are getting; 24-26mpg?" i gave the little thumbs up motion "Higher bud" "no way you're getting more than 32..." i said, "my best so far was 34, and the car is rated at 36." he then gave me the nod of approval and said "well, then you made the right choice."

Love the Versa!!!

Yesterday it was again proven that the hatch was the right choice. I went to a yard sale and found an antique sewing machine in cabinet for a great price. I took out the carseats, flopped the back seat forward, put the carseats upside down into the gap left before the front seats. I fit that cabinet and machine in with room to spare AND there was still a stroller in the car. Go ahead and try that, sedan owners.

"you just have me lost on that "

Easy 'splanation: my last 3 vehicles were mini-vans and I wound up hauling stuff . . . and at times either making a mess of the interior or (on one occasion) a little rip in the cloth.

The sedan is a people hauler only, and when I need a stuff hauler I call on those who have what I want and don't damage my own car. That's all.

Though I'm sure that it won't be long until I wish I had a hatch to stuff stuff into.

otoh, I'm not going to be asked to help people move!

I got to have the hatch. I am always lugging around Broomball gear (for you canadians, yes we do play in the states) and in the summers golf clubs and push carts. The Sedan, I don't believe gives me the versatility to haul all the crap I haul around. I haven't tried the fishing poles yet, that will be interesting.

Got the hatch myself. Is it a fact that hatches have worse blind spots then sedans? I test drove both and I didn't really notice.

The hatch has a narrower angle of vision out the rear window than the sedan (part of the hatch interior blocks exterior glass). However, if you have your mirrors properly adjusted, you can minimize the blind spots, making visibility just as good as a sedan with properly adjusted mirrors.

I can look in my driver's mirror, and pan to the passenger side over the rear view and passenger mirrors, and have a completely unblocked, slightly overlapping view of everything 1+ car lengths behind me all the way out to one full lane on either side. I only have to head check to make sure there's not something sitting right on the other side of the C-pillar, which is just as intrusive in the sedan.

Since my earlier cars were smallish station wagons (Subaru, Mercedes '89 300TE), the hatch seemed like the right choice for me. Plus, I really dig the cool wrap-around tail lights on the hatch which the sedan lacks. To each his/her own of course.

I got the hatchback because I had no choice. I blew up my 97 camry, so my dad said this is your choice for a new car, but u have to pay 3k for it. He said either the 07 Versa Hatch or the 07 Focus Hatch. He wanted me to get a hatch because it was more practical and also he was looking for a car with better MPGs.

So when I first saw the car i loved it. I saw absolutly nothing wrong with it. When I drove it out of the lot, I had to get right on the highway ,and then I noticed the Camry I previously had owned had alot less of a blind spot then the V. But Im so used to it now that idk if its that bad anymore.

I still dont understand why I get made fun of at my school for having a Versa. But maybe thats because the average family income at my school is 100k a year.

Anyways, the Sedan is UGLY. Sorry, i would never own one. And if i did, I would take a chainsaw to the back and make it look like a hatch lol.
