once again, I know a GIRL who shoots .40 cal..... real men carry .45 :) hehe

but in all honesty I do really like the Sig P229 in either .357sig or .40. I knew a guy who was a rent-a-cop and carried a 1911 on the job. The place he was working at got all worked up because he had a .45 and raised all sorts of hell over it (it was tooo big for the job) so he went out and got it re-chambered for 400 corbon :) hehehe *Evil grin

and as for the number or rds, it's hard to find full cap mags for damn near anything anymore, so I think that fact is pretty null. Besides most of the 'new age' .45's hold 10rds. Thank the Klintons and all their libral buddies on the hill for that one.....

anyhow, I'll shut up now

Paul

I have to agree with Smith on the .40 being an overall best choice of caliber, though I think I'll be alternating between .45 and .357 Sig when I get around to getting my CCW. Maybe a S&W Model 29 when I wanna feel like Clint Eastwood...

The .40 S&W however is the most used caliber for standard issue sidearms for police in the US or very close now though. It's that way because the guns aren't any bigger than 9's (good for small handed police) low recoil (follow ups and smaller people) and good knockdown (close to a .45, but not quite depending on the loads).

The recoil on the .40 cal small guns isn't bad at all either, though the polymer can be stiff (I don't like the Kel-Tec though it's a good price and all around nice gun, I just have to hold it rather awkward due to the trigger pull so all the recoil is cented on the first joint in my thumb:(). The Sig 239, I think the smallest Sig other than the P232(I think that's it, looks somewhat like a ppk) is very manageable as well as accurate and reliable (they're not exactly cheap though)

Did I hear someone say .45 isn't accurate?:D
