because someone else told me the dvd (battle 01) that was released just last tuesday is a "chopped up lame american version" and not worth it. but i already opened it. already watched it all. pissed me off that they didnt even finish the first battle. (the battle on the Mt., i mean.)

yeah, he passed him that one night on the mt when it was just the two of them, but the DVD ends when takumi borrows the car from his father the next saturday. he says "ok i'm off. and you promised a full tank of gas." then it goes to credits. i have to wait another month until the TokyoPop americanified battle stage 02 comes out. i'd rather not spend the Ebay money for the japanese discs. i'll be patient.

as far as D/Ling them from kazaa, etc...i've gotten way too many F'd up computer files in my day to trust P2P anymore.

http://www.animeondvd.com/revi...3.phpThe good thing was that TOKYOPOP got the Japanese Language Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track that was also released for the Japanese R2 DVDs. Separation was solid, great engine sounds, bass separation, etc. The bad news is that the English Dub track has been FUBAR’d. There is only *one* English Dub track and while normally this is no biggie, in this case, it is a drastically altered, “made-for-Saturday Morning Cartoon” kiddy track. Boo. The English Dub has all the names changed from the original character names. They’ve been “hipped up” with American-friendly names like “Cole” “K.T.” (whut up dogg!), “Natalie” and “Iggy.” The dialogue also strays from the original story translations to make it more “hip” and “urban” maybe?

And the English track has been further disgraced with the messing with the original sound effects! One of the biggest highlights of Initial D when it first came out in Japan was the extent of the care and work they did for it, especially the audio – The original Japanese version sampled the real engine sounds for all of the cars in the anime! They sampled the real engine idling and revving of Toyota 86, the Honda Civic, the Mazda RX-7, etc. Well on this new dub track, they’ve decided to “spice it up” and add in horrible car sound effects that are supposed to make it sound “cooler” I guess; any car enthusiast can tell you that adding fake rice burner effects on these pro-tuned race cars is just stupid.

Also, the Music track on the English Dub is completely cut out and replaced with bad unknown American garage bands.

are they seriously going to have an 'in car' screen in GT4?, and i too have almost all of the 1st stage of initial D, i just started downloading them a few days ago, and i love em, wouldnt pay for em, but they're nice. And i never got any bad files off of kazaa, guess im lucky

but anyone who watches with the english-dubbed track on deserves to get a second-rate program. as always, i use subtitles. speaking of which, i rented shiri today. kick *** movie. i'd reccommend it.

totally expected though, so its not a surprise to me whatsoever, like i said before, if we get it by next summer ill be surprised. Also, the 'in' car view in GT4, it would be nice if they had the actual steering wheel and guages of the different cars and such, instead of hte same guages on every car and all

I agree. I hate waiting, but like I said earlier, with SRS and NFS Underground coming out soon Ill be pretty occupied till the GT4 release. Im also thinking about picking up Metal Gear Solid 3 when it comes out, but I might buy the 2nd Metal Gear and try to beat it first. It should be only about $20 by now.

yea its been a 'greatest hit' for quite some time now, i didnt find thegame all that great htough, so i just rented it once and left it at that. But NFS underground ill more than likely pick up on.

Yea Ive heard mixed views on Metal Gear 2, but after I beat the games that I have now Ill buy it used or something. I still think that the first Metal Gear for the PS1 would be the best of the series because it has a pretty good storyline. I was pretty pissed that Meryl died at the end. That is deffinitely one of my favorite games. I new there was going to be another one cuz of the way it ended, but I didnt think they would make three of them.

well i guess i caught on too late,i had never played the first one, but decided to rent teh second, and didnt think it was that great. Just like final fantasy, most people seem to love that game, i htought it was kinda dumb, but then again, i had never played it, and i just rented ffX and felt kinda lost

metal gear...blah. you just spend all your time slinking around and hearing people go ( WEEP ! ) and then they run to alert the others. half the time you've got a damn tranq gun and it doesnt even work that well. plus its beat and done in about 2 weeks. i'd give it a 3 out of 10. (just my dumbass .02)

gamepro and egm and mags like that have huge cover stories on it, check them out. I think snake has a twin or some crap, and you're trying to rescue the real snake or somethin, i duno

Another twin? I thought Liquid Snake was his only twin and he died in the first MGS. Oh well I look into it right now. I forgot my lil bro had a mag w/Snake on the cover.
