Thank ya sir :dblthumb: . Its definitely getting there. I'm enjoying putting some finishing touches on it after the build was "done". Kinda nice to be working on it again here and there.

Appreciate it. This was definitely not meant to be a crazy build. Its a clean, fun to drive DD that stays true to OEM form. I've never been into the crazy thing anyway, well at least not for my only car. I would have loved to see the steering wheel on it too, but what needed to be done was just not worth it at all. I'm thinking a nice 3 Spoke Nardi with blue stitching and a quick release will be in order later on ;)

Hey I remember you, hard to believe you still have your car after all these years! How many miles on it now? Thank you sir :bigthumb:

It is bright white rustoleum engine enamel with high heat clear. It used to be a super bright white, but now turned kinda yellow, more of a cream color. I like the new color it turned a bit better, its not so "loud". I can take an updated pic of the new color to show how it turned if you would like.

Thanks, and something might be done eventually lol. They are decent but not the best. How you see them in the pics is as far as they get with a buffer. I really want to take them off and wet sand them, but thats once I get ambitious. I'm kinda afraid to pull the headlights because I don't want to scratch the paint popping the corner lights out haha. Yea, i'm that picky.

Nope, its this sticker:

Everyone and their mother puts "Salt Life" stickers on their cars here in FL. It basically means you live in a coastal area and enjoy fishing, surfing, e.t.c. Its just a stupid bandwagon sticker, so I had "No Life" made to boycott it lol.

Haha I took one of those Salt Life stickers off my Zenki immediately after I bought it..... I lived in Fort Lauderdale before I moved back here to NC. Oh, and an Apple logo sticker.....

I am in Locust. A super small town about an hour outside of Charlotte. And I believe I have the only S14 for miles around here. Although I did spy a 95 SE in a junkyard yesterday, will be picking that up this weekend if its decent........ at the very least I will be grabbing the lip off of it!!!!!

How do you like that tomei knob? My stock one is all nasty, and im thinking about getting an aftermarket knob, but i dont really like any. The nismo titanium one is nice, but it gets too hot for florida. The tomei duracon knob is suppoed to not get hot or cold

Were in fla you located?? you checked out the nismo dildo knob?? lol gay name but sick shift knob, and its made from some kind of epoxy resin so no heat issue. :bigthumb:

After reading all pages, I have a few questions (I need to do all of what you have done):
1. What did you use to get all the old tint off so easily?
2. What grit of sandpaper did you use to polish the headlights?

1.The key to taking tint off is heat. I happen to live in FL where we have brutal summers. I let the car sit out in direct sun for about an hour or 2. Then I just got in the car and used a razor blade in the corner to get the tint started off. Then I had an assistant run a hairdryer right where I was peeling tint. I had the assistant on the outside of the window and I was inside of course. It all came off in one piece luckily!

2. I didn't use sandpaper on my headlights. I used an orbital buffer with meguiars ultimate compound on them. They turned out nice, but i'm thinking about trying to use compound with grit on them or take them off and wetsand them. I really dont wanna do plan b lol.

Anymore questions, just ask!

I think there is a proportionate ratio of wood chucked to the strength and endurance of the woodchuck's arm, unless the farmer catches them chucking the wood and interrupts the process.

I did my prelude's with 1000 grit, then 2000 grit, then followed it up with a polishing compound. After that, I degreased/cleaned them again, and clear coated them. I then followed it with the same 1000--->2000--->polish method. They turned out pretty good, but I definitely got a little fisheye in the clear.

Hey everybody, got an update for you. As I mentioned in my last post, the next project is to freshen up the brake system. I have been gathering parts for that and finally have everything. Today I have been painting all afternoon, so heres the fruits of my labor:

First off, I found a seemingly rare set of brake nismo ss brake lines for the JDM S14 line setup:
Image

And I also ordered Hawk Ceramic pads for all 4 corners:
Image

I already had centric rotors for the front sitting around, so I just needed some rear ones. I got those off ebay. Next up was calipers. I got the rears from work at autozone. The 300zx fronts have been out of stock for a while, so I just got Raybestos ones from Rock Auto. Now that I have everything, today was paint day. I turned my garage into a makeshift paint booth and sprayed with vht all afternoon. I am really pleased with how everything came out. The vht is a great product!

I am going to brush the Nissan logos white by hand once the paint is cured good in a few days. Hopefully the install will go down next week on a day off... Until next time!

Sweet.

Won't you need 300zx front conversion brake lines for the front though?

I wish I painted my new rear rotors when I had them off.
I have the tiniest layer of surface rust on them. :(
