don't try and come off as a politically correct newbie who feels like he's getting bashed by a bunch of narrow minded 240sx enthusiasts.

You said in your post " a gay @$$ sr20det ".

Proper wording? Not really. You can dish it out, but when I do about your little V8 hybrid idea, you can't seem to take it.

I could give a shiet whether or not you put a motor in your car running off of 2 AA batteries, my point was you were in as.s.

BTW, don't try to call me out with crap like " have you ever owned a v8, have you ever driven a v8, have you ever made love to a v8" blah blah blah.

From any engineering standpoint, it takes more brain to put out a small displacement 4 cylinder to make power then it does to take a huge 8 cylinder motor, iron block, indestrucable internals, and send it on its way. I don't care whos faster, v8's are, but don't sit there and try and tell me that american engineers back in the 1950's coudl have designed a 2 liter 4 cylinder motor capable of putting out 400+hp on a daily basis. The technology simply didn't exist.

and who cares if he called the SR gay ... without the turbo it is pretty gay.

So why not give the props to the turbo manufacturer which is probably not Nissan.

Edit: Oh and one more thing... the japanese engineers were not making 400+hp on 2 liter 4 cylinder engines in the 1950's either!

one more note to add to this because I want to...

by your theory of displacement vs horsepower why dont we give the props to who really wins that debate and the winner is!!!!

Briggs and Stratton ... thats right kiddies your lawnmower is the baddest mofo to hit the grass! (by that theory)

face it ... your engine is weak without turbo and a V8 is strong without turbo you fail ... V8 wins... boohoo

yeah guys seriously, cry me a river! lets sing and dance together now mark! i never seen equal modded 4cyl take a 8 its not happening either men, you put a turbo, they put a supercharger, you push 300hp on your 4cyl then that v8 will just take you for 800.. face it. 4cyl was not ment to race, we just like to think that way. oh, and i like my 240 too :-P and yes, i wanna mod it to be "fast" but i know i will never step up to a moded 69 Chevelle SS lifes a b1tch guys, lets stop believing out car is god and could walk on everything. we are starting to sound like honda boys. :-/

You can't compare a V-8 and a 4 cylinder engine, it's just not the same class.

If you wan't to find what's better, American or Japanese, compare two 8 cylinder engines.

For instance, The z-28 makes 275 horspower stock.the infiniti Q-45 makes 278 stock.

Z-28 is 5.7 litersQ-45 is 4.5 liters

Same power, 1.3 liters less volume.

Soon to come... GKCO!!

Geo Kia Car Owners Club.... take our 3cyl and woop on a lambo after we take that advance engine that was discovered in the last years! Gawd! We could be running 12 seconds on NAWWWZ

*lets face it, spend a day on the track. 12 seconds is not that fast guys, neighbor has his car running 8s. enjoy.....no hard feelings nico brothaz. lets just stop wishing, and sounding more like honda kiddies. if i wanna hear that a 4banner owns the streets, i would buy a civic with some decals and tell eveyone i run 10 :) much love NISSAN family

Briggs and Stratton? Do you even know how much displacement a lawnmower has compared to its horsepower? If you really want to talk displacement vs power then get a Motorcycle. A lawnmower is actually pretty crappy power vs displacement. Look it up. But you should also look up a Turbo Hayabusa while your at it. 1.3 liter and most of them are in the 400hp neighboorhood. About a horsepower per pound of weight :)

And nobody has answered my question, What will a SBC do to your weight balance in your car? I would consider a V8 if it could be done with keeping a real good weight distro.

True, but a motorcycle barely weighs anything, it doesn't need that much torque. That's why them engines rev up to like 14000 (or something).

but the VH45DE is hella more expensive to do stuff with.

are we listening? I didn't contest the fact that a v8, especially modified is not even comparable to a 4 cyl. with the most efficient turbo ever created.

And what theory of displacment vs hp? I was purely talking about the engineering factors that go into the motor design, not about overall hp output. Again, I already stated that this wasn't a c0ck fight about power.

You and blade are turning into pretty cozy butt buddies. You should gtg and reminisce on the good ol' v8 days, knock a few back, and come up with good put downs for good ol' Wuss.I'll let you know if you actually manage to make me feel stupid at any point in this dumb back-and-forth post.

ya think? add 4 more cylinders and what do you think would be faster? by the way blade about your picture posting hoo-rah crap....effecting "drifting" can't be performed in an auto transmission and certainly not on a dirt road pal.

For the wieght thing I want to say 67 pounds was what I read for aires's car. Compared to the KA. So it really isn't that bad. I don't care about drag racing, meet me out at the autocross then we'll see whats up. :D

if its that little of a weight difference why couldnt someone put in an LS1, move the battery to the back, and still drift? I would think the powerband on an LS1 or LT1 would be great for breaking rear traction as desired. Vette engines actually get pretty nice mileage considering its a 5.7 liter V8.

there doesnt have to be a best, i think a real enthusiast should be able to appreciate each engine for what it excels in. i dont just like nissans or 240's, i like cars, and the 240 happens to be one of my favorites.
Ok dumba$$ , first of all the V8 is still AROUND! there is no need to "reminisce" about it. And secondly, do you even know why car manufacturers make 4 cylinder garbage?!? BECAUSE IT'S CHEAP! Not because its better engineered ....it is because they make money off of it, which is the bottom line... all they care about.

Do you even read before you sputter some dumb nonsense, do you have constipation of the mind and diarrhea of the mouth?

And the Weight distribution would be fine on a 240 with a V8!

you two have the worst logic ever.

Do you know what is a better replacement for displacement? Technology. Period. There is a limit to the size of a motor you can stick in a street car, but technology is always moving, getting better every day. And a single cam cousin humping torque monster is not what i call "advanced".

As far as the SR being a bad engine with out a turbo, your dead wrong. The SR20DE is very popular in racing because of its ability to sustain high RPM's and bounce off the redline all day long.

I used to like V8 cars until i met people who dont have any apreciation for variations of the same hobby. In fact, i still like V8 powered cars, just not the mullet ridden white trash that is usually in the drivers seat. Aries has a running V8 in his S14 and i have tremendous respect for what he has done. You guys have no respect for 4 cylinder motors, and thats your choice, but know that you are insulting many people on these boards who prefer a much newer feild of automotive tech.

Not true, it is much easier to produce a Natually apirated V8 than a turbo motor because of the amount of electronics and precision parts needed to make it work. I could design a V8 and all the parts that go with it in CAD, find out what materials were used by the origional manufacturer, an dproduce my V8 much easier than i could make a turbo 4 cylinder which require alot of reseach in fluid dynamics, flow rates, heat transfer, etc...
Very smart comment, concidering most turbo manufacturers are owned by car manufacturuers.

without turbo 4 cylinders are weak without turbo 8 cylinders are strong

you get 0wn3d by V8 ... take it like a man

It goes either way, V8s or inline 4s, over 60% of all car parts arnt made by the manufacturer anyways.

yes and I was stating that it is cheaper to manufacture a 4 cylinder ... I was defending the V8 engineers because dumb**** says a 4 cylinder is much more advanced engineering, which is a blind statement... How the **** does he know? is he an engineer? He is just whining because his car is weak stock and that SR he goes outside and jerks off onto ... IS WEAK without the turbo , the only thing that makes that engine sortof fast is the turbo... has nothing to do with the fact that it is a weak cheap 4 cylinder.
