haha hey guys, sorry for the insane lack of updates, I need to keep up more on this site. Anyways, im just sitting waiting for stuff yet again. As you know, the first set of heads got ripped off along with about $1800. So I purchased a new set of heads, new valvetrain, and started over. These heads will be done next week (this time from a local VERY good shop). The list goes like this:Supertech Ti retainers/seatsSupertech dual valve springsSupertech inconel .5mm OS exhaust valvesSupertech Black nitride .5mm OS intake valvesBronze valve guides
5 angle valve job on intake valves, radius job on exhaust. Major porting, bowl/chamber work, shaving spark plug boss in the chamber.
These heads will be just as good (if not better) as the original set of heads I was SUPPOSED to get. Supertech valvetrain is rated to like 11krpm.
Also got my custom manual steering rack. This will be installed this weekend when I trailer the car to the shop to drop off. To fit this will need some slight modification. The drivers side rack mount on the crossmember will need to be modified/moved, the rack ends will need to be sleeved, and I will be using race heim joints as tie rod ends. To keep the OE pivot points the rack had to be shortened 2 inches which brought the total length to 1.5" shorter than stock which is why it needs to be sleeved. Not a major deal.
The rack is a 3-3/4 lock-lock quick ratio rack. Should be fun
My battery is relocated in the hatch (Optima red-top in a nice optima battery bracket) in that little indented area (passengers side back corner in the hatch).
I finished porting my oil pump (no pics sorry) and the bottom end is all buttoned up now. The original crank scraper I had was one for a VG30E (mistake of the seller), so it did not fit correctly (around the oil pick-up tube). This issue was resolved and a new DETT scraper set was sent to me, so I am still running that. (yet again no pics of that before assembly, sorry!).
ALSO, got my custom FMIC in a few days after the rack got here. Custom built by Bell to my specs (somewhat like T0M's fmic). The core is a vertical core, 24.2"x6"x4.5". The end tanks bring the total height to 12". The FMIC is rated at 1000+hp The inlets/outlets face the motor to further simplify piping and cut down on a lot of unnecessary piping.
obviously this will utilize custom 2.5" piping as straight and short as possible.
Also my brain came in...
Haltech Platinum Sport 2000 with harness. 5 bar map sensor, IAT sensor, and boost controller.
not to mention I got a great deal on some JUN adjustable cam gears.
That pic looks distorted I know, cell phone pic and weird angles. I can assure you they are round
lastly, I've also been prepping and painting my engine bay (which will be done after the rack. Figure ill let them scratch s*** up before I finish the paint job) and I took the time to install my carbon fiber fog light ducts (replace the fog lights).
So thats it for now. Once my heads are back ill be putting everything together. Supposedly the guy that f***ed me over is going to give me a full refund AND send my heads back (major port work but no valvetrain), so if he actually follows through with that (almost 2 grand) I will have the car finished as soon as I receive the refund. The 3 biggest parts I have left are the low profile motor mounts, ATI crank dampener, and the triple disc clutch. Other than that its just little things like the fuel lines (full nylon braided -8AN), fittings, and the oil lines/fittings for the turbos. So it's very close...just waiting...Ill take some pics of the rack once its done, and obviously the heads and other parts as they come in.
hope that holds you over for a while!
just so you guys can get a sense for it, this is one of my turbos mocked up on a motor I built for someone (running twin 2871's on it).
I was clocking the turbo's for my motor, but am unsure as to how I will have them..Ill obviously post pics of that process when the heads are back.
