You can only use it for a few runs, before you have to recharge the custom alternator, it takes to power the thing..

It's an alternative to nos, but it isnt a permanent solution

I haven't had a chance to research these, but I am interested in learning more. For example, what is the cost of the electric one? I would not expect to use it more than a few seconds at a time unless I was racing or trying to determine the top speed. Wouldn't the battery have enough juice or do they use a different voltage? My main concern would be restricting the airflow if mounting inline. Maybe there is another way to mount them?

dkill,I just joined NICO, and would be interested in the S/C buy. I have a Q96t, so would this year still be suitable? or, would some changes be required due to no VVT?Thanks,Bill

Denver:

Few folks have much good things to say about electrical SC's.Really not in the same class as aregular a eaton.

Bill: Welcome to NICO! :jazz:

about your questions ( kinda off-the-cuff):JWT doesnt make a chip for your year and you would run at the lower psi 4.5 or so cuz of no chip adjusting, should still get you to a reliable 370 hp+.Lack of VVT also means the JWT chip is less neccessary IMO .

Even our regular ECU can a handle SC w/o JWT addition, just need to run lower Psi.

An OBDII ECU should be at least as able ( if not more). You wont go to real high psi w/o a JWT piggyback. But I feel you can have a meaningful forced induction w/o one.

Why I think everyone is missing the boat on the G50. The 1996 with no intake cam advance and OBD II should be the easiest to adapt and have the best performance with a low pressure boost system.

:boink :rockon :fruit

ONE BAR, (14.5psi), INTERCOOLED, STOCK INTERNALS?!?

Woooohoooo!

Wonder if it's still together?

Brian, I think AGM or someone mentioned defeating the VVL possibly through ECU recalibration or by disconnecting them manually. I don't know if the ECU would like that or not, maybe I'll try it today.

I wouldn't run a leaf blower inline on my car without an ECU recalibration. :D

All the best trying to get the TT thing happening.Just remember that Australia doesn't have many Q45's, and Promotive only has a VH45 in a nissan patrol, which was all custom stuff to get it to fit. eg a vh45 into a patrol needs custom headers as the stockers don't fit......etc. Their patrol runs on Liquid petroleum gas, and haltech computer management apparently, so not exactly stock q45 stuff.

Hope it does work out, but don't get your hopes up too quickly.Cheers.

This guy has been away for a couple of weeks & is currently in Queensland, so he may not answer his email for a few days.

This engine is on Natural Gas only & has no injectors etc, but the main problem anyone may have, is the room for the Exhaust Manifolds. Being in a Patrol, means he has a lot more clearance to play with, so the manifolds he has made up, may not fit in the Q.

On acceleration, his L/H front tire just about leaves the ground.

Also, in 4wd, he is able to spin all 4, even in 3rd! (on dirt etc,) & on the pavement, he can easily leave a Subaru WRX in his dust. This thing flies!!!

He's having some problems with 4th gear, & feels as if he may have damaged it, but he hopes to be able to do some checking in the next week or so.

BTW, he has driven the Patrol to QLD (Queensland) & that's about a 650mile drive each way. I'm sure he'll have a few MORE stories of those that tried & failed. :)

I'm pretty sure he is still using my standard computer. He swapped mine for a Jap Mines one. He wants to run a Motec ECU.I was talking to him today & he said he had mine in, but, with the amount of mods he has done, he may be thinking of the Gearbox one.

sorry if this thread is going a bit off topic...Good to hear the standard computer can handle the twin turbos. less $ to spend.Yeah maybe the haltech was for the transmission.I would love to see it in action. I have heard stories about his antics with 600 hp ...It will be in 4wd magazine (4wd monthly) eventually, they took photos a little while back.

Don't forget, the ECU ain't regulating the fuel, as it's on gas. (LPG for the non-Aussies)

It was mentioned in this thread that I disconnected the VVT. To the contary, I have piggybacked into it and control it as I please via the laptop. Opens up a whole lot of tuning parameters for me.

Chally,

I am extremely impressed with the patrol. It is my understanding that the internals are stock and the engine is doing OK at 600Hp.

Have you had involvment with this project?

I have been scared to go past 500HP with stock internals without seriously reducing the life of my engine.

Mav,

Are you on the east coast as well?

Regards

AGM

Fuel can cure a lot of ills, including a lack of programming & cooling the intake charge.

That is a very nicely executed project. Hope he has someone strapped in the back of it to capture the look on people's faces from behind.

AGM, I met him at the last Sydney Motor show, & we have just been helping each other, but he has done all the development himself. I'm unsure if he has had it on the dyno at these figures. I'll give him a ring & find out.AGM, can I give him your email if he need some info on how you've done your ECU etc?

Heavy Duty, I asked him to get some video ASAP, & I'll ask him if he can set up a camera, he he he...:D

Chally, the headers are unfortunately for a LHD Q45. I'm unsure if yours is, but that may be a problem :S .

All the best.

Yes, I had a look the other day, & I can't see why they wouldn't fit with a slight modification, but then again, I may be just wishful thinking...

Might still be some in Member's Rides forum. Don't know it any keywords are entered. Look under AZhitman.

Oh yeah, search for posts by AGM, and you'll find most of the hard information on supercharging the VH45DE.

Welcome aboard.

Actually, I think there's some in THIS thread...

Read and enjoy!

d!ck, feel free to email me anytime. The original B.A.D. supercharged Q will be arriving at my garage in late August (during the 240 Convention). I then have to decide what to do with it from there.

We FINALLY have a name and a shop to replicate the manifold, and I will be tapping some of our NICO expertise to secure replication of the brackets, pulleys, etc.
