OK guys, I've been doing my research, and I'm moving forward with the Illuminated Kickplates this week!

I have already ordered the necessary parts, and when they arrive, I'll do the fabrication and get em posted up...

My question is, who would be SERIOUSLY INTERESTED in buying a set?

I am considering doing a few of these and offering them...

My cost for the illuminated kickplates would most likely be between $100~ $150 if you supplied your own kickplates and I fabricate them using yours, and $220 ~ 250 if I have to purchase the kickplates and fabricate them.

Options would be

1. Brushed Aluminum vinyl overlay with Gloss finish with Altima or NISSAN lit up in a center plexiglass piece.

2. Real Carbon Fiber Weave vinyl overlay with Gloss Finish and Altima or NISSAN lit up in a center plexiglass piece

What color would the actual illumination be? If it's red, I'm down!

when you say you need ours, are you talking about the regular black ones or how some people have aluminum ones? also another question i have is could we get Nissan instead of Altima? i'd be interested in aluminum ones that say Nissan BUT i need to paint my bumper first and i want to try and get in on the intake group buy, and my little business just got hella slow lol so it would be a while for me...... but i'd buy it in the future

Would it be overly difficult to change what it says?

Hey guys, I don't think it would be difficult at all to change the letters.. in fact, we could probably do whatever you wanted on them (Nissan, Altima, Altima Coupe, etc).

This is what I'll do... I'll create the first few using a few different methods... 1. One with a complete plexiglass with Altima Frosted in the center,

2. One with brushed aluminum surround, with center plexiglass, with the altima frosted into the plexiglass,

3. One with brushed aluminum surround, with center plexiglass, with a black vinyl covering the center plexiglass, and only the letters "ALTIMA" will glow.

Oh yes, for the lighting, I was going to do white lighting, but if you want red or el-glo blue, those could be done as well!

very good question, I was gonna use the ones that have the aluminum on it... reason being, they have a recessed center piece, and that's where I'd be installing the brushed aluminum and plexiglass!

I'd totally be interested in something like this (when I get the car), but would like to see some pictures first of course.

Im definately up for this! but would it be possible to have the brushed aluminum scuffed up and sprayed black or even tan (to match my blond interior haha!) That would just be perfect with my plans for the exterior scheme

How easy/hard do you think they would be too install, Rob? I wouldn't want to have to take half of the interior apart to run the wiring, although I doubt it'd be that difficult.... Other than that, a set in carbon fiber would be pretty hot.

regarding installation, it shouldn't be too difficult for average modders... you would need to take the door panel off to run the positive and negative wires from the power supply , and splice it to the positive/negative wires in the door powering the courtesy lights!

D'oh, sorry... I didn't think about the courtesy light right on the door. Shouldn't be that difficult at all then...

I'd be very interested. But I'd like to see some pics of the finished product as well as the install to be sure. I'd give it a 60% chance right now... (didn't vote though)

Isnt it difficult to run the wires from the cabin into the door? I tried running some before and I gave up because I couldnt get them through but I had no clue what I was doing.

i havent done it... but i think it would need like 8 ft of wire... go under the long piece that pulls off behind the kickplate... to the corner where the fuse box is... then do a S maneuver thru those plugged holes in the cavity you see when the door is opened... and snake it in with the other door wiring... i think!

not difficult at all... we had to run wires into the door for my components also... didn't use the factory wiring because it was hooked up to the amps, and we wanted higher quality wires!

Sightly off topic: how much did you guys pay for aluminum kick plates? Assuming it wasn't part of the car purchase (ie. bought after you bought the car).

OK, got the lights today, with one small problem... the 12 Volt transformer makes a very faint buzz sound when ignited. the noise is normal, just a tad bit annoying.

I will be purchasing different power inverters from another vendor, and testing those out... in any case, I'll be fabricating the kits over the next few days, just PLEASE BE PATIENT, my daughter is running a fever, so between that and lab work, I'm swamped right now...

OK guys, this is very similar to what these illuminated kick plates will look like

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWD1V

If all goes well, I will have these ready for sale as early as next week..

I know, I know, it will depend on the quality, photos, video, etc... but I wouldn't sell anything that I wasn't 100% satisfied with and that I wouldn't want on my car myself!

Oh yes, I will be doing both "ALTIMA COUPE" logo and "NISSAN" logo, depending on the interest, I may be able to do custom logos also... stay tuned, I really think you guys will like this...
