You've got a willing and ready volunteer up here in Canada too! After all, it'd be good to know how the headers do in the cold...right? Riiiiight?

Actually, I do have a little update for you...

Our engineer's have come up with a really trick way of building these so that there is no welding involved. In our initial design you guys would need to weld an O2 bung into the existing catalytic convert (B-pipe.) Our engineers have designed a little slip joint with the O2 bung already in there and ready to slip right into place. That means that these headers will be able to be installed in your driveway with a simple socket set, an O2 sensor wrench a hack saw (you'll need to cut off the front half of your catalytic converter pipe but that's really easy) and a six pack...Shouldn't take more than a couple of hours and it'll be nice and easy for everyone!

P.S.- We might be looking for a local owner who would be willing to let us use their vehicle for a D.I.Y. article. You'll see on our blog that we have a DIY section and we think this would be a great product for that section.

A bung is something that is used to complete a seal... like a wine stopper... it is used in completing the seal between the piping and the o2 sensor.

The o2 sensor wrench is a socket or wrench used to remove the o2 sensor... a regular socket would do, but theres a wire harness coming out of the back of the o2 sensor, preventing you from using a standard socket. They sell different types of tools to remove them, (and sockets) heres an example:

Will this still produce the "Check Engine" light like you guys have said before?

We always try to make our parts easy to install and trust me, this is by far the best and easiest way to do it.

Keep in mind that these cars are equipped with a primary catalytic converter inside the exhaust manifold. We are deleting that catalytic converter out of the system. This will cause all kinds of check engine lights and all that good stuff to pop up. In the past we simply would have thrown an O2 emulator at the sensors and fooled the system into thinking everything was happy and went on our merry way. But, NISSAN has developed some of the most advanced ECU's we've ever seen and those little tricks aren't working anymore.

So, our initial plan was to supply an O2 sensor bung ( LBC) that you guys could just have welded into your exhaust stream behind the secondary catalytic converter and relocate the primary O2 sensor behind the secondary catalytic converter.

But, there are quite a few problems with that plan. #1) Some shops will not modify any part of a catalytic converter or O2 sensor system. #2) This would have meant that you guys would need to find a local welder or muffler shop to install this for you which would have raised the cost and difficulty of installation. #3) For alot of you it would have taken the DIY install out of the equation if you didn't have a shop in your area and therefore raised the total cost of the installation.

So, in the end our engineer's developed this really trick little coupler which will make the installation process much easier and will allow just about anyone to do this in your driveway.

Which is why I say that I think it will make for a great DIY article on our part. I've talked with my manager's and they all agree. Hopefully we can get this done pretty soon. And yes, if I do this it will be done on jack stands and floor jacks so that everyone can see how easy it is without the need of a nice flashy lift.

Sorry for repeating myself... but I'm not sure if I understand this... I think what you're saying is that this little trick will keep the check engine light off after the install?

I am not to sure if this has been answered but are these headers for off-road use only?

About a month or so ago we installed the headers on a forum member's vehicle "datalux." He put nearly 1,000 miles on them to test our idea for eliminating the check engine light. Thanks to his efforts we were able to prove that our engineer's concept works perfectly and there will be no check engine lights on these.

These will be marked for off-road use only as they eliminate the primary catalytic converter.

Can you give us any hp or tq figures yet

what does you mean by off-road? Im a little confused , does that mean i cant get the headers if im just gonna do daily driving? and what is primary catalytic converter? Sorry if its a little trouble some, but i have no clue to what they are or mean. Thanks for the info in advance.

Re: (b88dragon).. It means that they are not street legal.. only for off-road use.. but anyone that knows a bit about performance parts knows that 99% (not accurate but you get my draft) of all headers out there are supposed (And I quote) !!!Supposed!! to be for off-road use only.. But that has never stoped anyone from using and installing them. Just like tinting your windows, lowering your car, adding an exhaust and even an Air intake.. lots of modifications to your car are not allowed by the local law enforcement... you can get a ticket for having a car that is too low or too high.. same goes with the headers.. most people will just get a fix a ticket and have to replace the headers with the stock manifold. Hope that answers your question.

Oh wow. I totally haven't been keeping up with this thread as I thought it was just full of, "when is this coming out Stillen?" posts.

But now I see they are right around the corner, I'm excited.

I would try to cut in front of Rob on the whole letting you use my car thing, but it seems as he already has that spot on lock.

But just in case, MY CAR IS AVAILABLE KYLE!!!

(Sorry Rob)
