i just did a empty tank eval... i started when my tank lights start to flash... i filled her up at 13.4 gal ... the specs says it is a 15.1 gal tank... i used 91 too... well i got 478 miles out of it...thats easy medium driving with occasional hard driving... so ~478/15.1 gets me roughly 31.65 miles a gallon.. oh and i drive a s13 with SR redtop with bolt ons... not bad...:D

I get about 25 MPGs standard driving (SR20DET @ 7 PSI) but when I get leadfoot it's more like 15-18

To do a proper test , fill your tank up and drive for 30 kms and fill up again. Use the same gas pump.

dont want to call you out or anything, but some poeple *do* have fine tuning done to their engines, or different engines in their cars. I dont know about other engines, but go check the CA forum, there are members getting 30, 35 and higher with standalone systems.

Just throwing my car into the mix...

Stock KA24DE 5-speed gets me about 20 miles per gallon, and about 27 highway. This was done at 91 octane, but the cheap kind. If I use some gas additives and on a fresh tune up I did about 30 MPG highway.

the stock 95 standard got 25 to 26 in town and a a high of 34 highway driving, when I installed the Sr in town was 23 to 25, Highway driving I got 32 with AC

My 93 convertible with SR got the exact same as the 95 with SR

My 92 with the RB 20det gets 18 to 23 in town and 28 is the best so far

My 93 CA18DET in near Stock arrangement with a good exhaust in town got 21 to 26 and on the highway it got almost 34, with the boost turned up and a tuned ECU the gas mileage dropped about 3 mi. to the gallon across-the-board.

The 95 with the late-model blacktop s 14 motor provided the best gas mileage of the SR's around town it got between 23 to 27 and on the highway with AC car fully loaded and I mean pact I got 33 going to Florida. This car is also very sensitive to your foot you drive and hard to gas mileage goes down fast. Though the RB20DET motor is the worst for gas mileage drop when driven hard, when I'm doling track events I figure my gas mileage at about 6 mi. a gallon.

Not to mention EPA ratings are blanket statements in themselves. Everyone drives differently and maintenance (or lack there of) can definitely affect what the mileage will be.

As for me.I get about 350mi to a full tank. Last I checked. I normally only keep 1/2 a tank in the car for local driving. Keeps it peppier.

Highest i've gotten on a complete *** full tank: Near 400

Recent generally : 300(alignment and balancing have been SUPER off though, but it's fixed so it should get better again)

I run on Chevron 91/93 (whatever the highest is)

For some reason when I read some of these replies I can't help but think most are not calculating their mpg correctly.

On city driving, driving conservatively, I get about 22 mpg on my 90 hatch sohc. This is with a few full throttle traffic merges throughout the tank - not many.

Shifting before 3k. My 240 has about 170k miles on it, and I've done the following tune up items:

CTS, plugs and wires, air filter, new tires with proper air pressure, new exhaust, and 2 tanks ago a new O2 sensor. Oil changes obviously.

Maybe I'm missing out on the major gas mileage improving super duper tune item.

How some of you kids are getting high 20s on a sohc in city driving is beyond me. Even for a DOHC. Especially when its above and beyond what the car is rated from the factory. (which in most cases, the factory rated mpg is higher than the real world driver gets) My car blows no smoke, and is probably one of few KAs that actually idles perfectly.

edit: I would think the later model KAs would do better with OBD2, but for 89-94 KAs some of the claims seem outrageous. Not intended to flame....

I must have a dent in my tank then. I grabbed all my conversion numbers off the net, like I've been using for years.

My gauge was the width of the needle above E, I had 295 miles to the tank.

To full, to the point where I let the pump go to the first auto click off, and then tried once more, (which only put a mouthful in), my car took 13.4 gallons.

295/13.4 = 22.014 mpg

To think some get another 100 clicks on city driving....unless you got a bigger tank

my gas mileage is absolutely horrible, right now i average about 5-8 mpg or a good solid 100 miles on a full tank on a stock ka24de. the previous owner neglected it. i'm working on fixing that.

Wow, thats alot more than neglect. Thats plain abuse! He must has drilled a couple of holes in the tank.

You're in muscle-car-big-block-454 mpg!!!

average about 25-27 in my 240... I recently took a long trip to Stockton ,CA from Torrance ,CA I got 392 miles to my tank.... it was pretty much on fumes at that point but it made it without stopping for gas....

90 240sx . redtop sr20det ,S15 T28 . 3" veilside exhaust , front mount, 555cc inj and 3" downpipe.....

pretty much stayed out of boost and I have a 97 J30 lsd with 3.90 gears so that helped a bit too

I get anything from 25 to 27 mpg per tank. 25% city and 75% highway. My KA is 198K right now so I guess it is still in good shape.

But that is for driving like grandma. If I go a little more aggressive, I will get like 21 to 23.

I've been driving rediculously lately, so I've gone down to 75-80 miles on a 1/4 tank so that is ~ 21 mpg.
I know this is late, but people don't figure mileage this way? Those dials are never accurate. Never noticed how you can go 200 miles on 1/4 tank, then the last 3/4 on 100 miles?

I just got the emission control removed properly. I also found out that my gas tank holds 14.9 gallon, not 12.5 so I'll have to calculate again.I also took out a bunch of crap off the trunk and cheanged O2 sensor and spark-plugs. I'll be making changes to the air intake to get cooler air because the weather is too hot.On the weekend after this I'll take mine down the highway and see if there's any improvement over original stock.
