your getting all bent out of shape.

Relax...

i wont argue with you anymore, Since you have no idea what you are talking about. And unfortunetly there actaully might be drift events, Broadfield. which would be only based on points.

As much as i love FM3, i thought it was stupid of them to implement the Drift leaderboards/points cause it really doesnt show any skill at all. I will continue to drift on Forza without even looking at my "highest score" cause that sh*t is gay and for people who drift on NFS.

The drift point/leaderboard could have worked but the problem as I see it is that the line they want you to follow while drifting to get max points is not the line a skilled drifter would use to wow the judges.

Hey Nali, you're not completely right here....

Try this, race a two lap race in Forza 3. Once the race is over, go to leaderboards in the Post Race menu. Now it will show you your lap times vs the rest of the world. Now press the right d-pad. It will show you your score for those two laps in terms of "drift points". So basicly there is no "drift mode" per say...

Because in either mode it will tally a drift score.

The 111 points I got for having a slight power steer through the LONG constant turn.

Forza (2-3) Physics and CPU (driving?)Well the first two videos are mine that I took today.

- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ok8xWGK4ojcThe driver of the Panoz couldn't get out of the corner with out banging into the wall twice. I could be wrong but is that what a common practice with pro drivers?

- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vteiJP1u26AThe car hits the wall and doesn't take any damage after hitting...But it take 12% bumper damage. After driving for a sec, the car's damage is doubled and the rotor that has 0 damage after hitting the wall received 12% randomly.

- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...latedFound this one after I posted my two.

Why does Forza have a better damage model and why do people feel it is a better simulation of driving then GT?

im sure it has a few problems because its just a demo and not the full game. A lot of demos even say theyre only a comparison to the full game.

200mph crash causes car to bounce of and speed in the opposite direction

Ferrari breakdances when its supposed to have crashed(looks like fun actually)

So much to talk about!1. AI so stupid they cant figure out how to reverse out and go around drivers car.

2. AI so blind even after that long straight, it didnt realize it could swerve slightly to the right or left and dodge the sitting cars....so it hits them flat out....didnt even bother trying to break.

3. Damage model so terrific the cars literally fuse together and drive off.....as if nothing happened.

I could find more and more GT5, and GT5p instances of absolutely horrible gaming, but im not going to bother....most GT fans just ignore all these issues and push the Graphics card, which most Forza fans have comes to terms with, yes GT5 has better graphics than Forza, but what else does it do better?

P.S. Why do some AI drivers in Forza seemingly randomly crash or drive off the road?
IGN wrote:Perhaps the most controversial addition is the AI pressure system. One of the big problems with racing sims (Forza included) has been that AI drivers are too perfect. This is most notable in the Gran Turismo series, where every driver seems programmed on a specific line and follows it every time. Forza 2 changed that to some degree with the Drivatar system, but not enough to feel like you were racing against other people. So Turn 10 added the pressure system, which attempts to make the AI drivers more human. Get on the tail of another driver and they may make a mistake. Perhaps they go into a turn hotter than they would normally, or hug the shoulder more than they'd like. The lower your difficulty level, the more likely the pressure will get to the AI.

As for your damage glitch, im gonna call it a glitch in the system, i have never been able(and im trying as we speak) to replicate it.Im gonna keep trying though, and ill submit it once i can do it consistently.

Forza 2's horrible-terrible-s*** AI is what caused me to stop playing the game. I got SO SICK of getting rear-ended coming into turn 10 at Road Atlanta and subsequently getting launched off into the grass only to see the $@#%head who hit me go on to take my spot...I had to stop playing the game or risk becoming a mass murderer. That crap is unacceptable. I've had it happen to me in real world cart racing as well, and it's infurating. They can never actually pass me, because I hold a better line. But they'll still ride my butt on EVERY turn because they don't know how to drive, and eventually they'll hit me and I'm screwed. The game's penalty system sucks, so there's no justice. I could do the same thing to the computer cars, except I'm usually too busy passing them instead of driving like a moron playing peek-a-boo with someone's sideview mirrors. If you're actually faster than me, PASS ME. Otherwise, calm the f*** down and stay in your place, which is be-f***ing-hind me.

In any real-world racing organization, crap like that would get you removed from the entire LEAGUE, not just penalized with a few seconds of lap time. If you don't know how to safely drive around other people, you have no business racing with other cars. Brake lights are there for a reason. If you screw up, YOU go in the grass, not me.

Racing games are already frustrating enough with the complete lack of vehicle feedback. Adding crappy AI drivers to the mix puts them firmly in "not worth playing" territory for me.

I guess I forgot to add that bit amidst all my flying spit.

If Forza 3 manages to bring competent AI into the mix, it could make a HUGE difference in my reception of the game. A racing game with genuinely good AI (AI that actually drives, interacts, feels, and is dynamic, and knows not to rear-end me) could be so much more enjoyable. That would add tremendous depth to the game. It's one of those things that adds value and shine to every other aspect of the game. When your opponents are better drivers, all those mods mean more, your own driving means more, every win means more...

It's really the linchpin of the entire experience. And I think it's one of those things that, once achieved, would reshape the racing genre so drastically that any game to follow would seem ridiculous without it, and those older games would feel greatly lacking in comparison.

Hard mode doesn't make the AI any smarter, it just makes them play less fair. Exactly the opposite of what I want.

I see the GT fanbois have reentered the discussion. Realistically speaking GT 5 had better be as good as if God had made it himself for all the hype it's gathered. As far as Forza 3 goes, we won't really be able to tell how much the AI has changed if any until the full game is released. The damage modeling should be better now that you can outright flip your car which you couldn't do before.

We can't really tell anything from the Demo b/c honestly the demo was absolute crap. You want to play a solid racing demo, and as bad as it is to say, Need For Speed Shift is what I expect out of a solid racing sim demo. You get the same number of cars as FM3 but the tracks are much better and you actually work towards getting another car. Plus the damage modeling is really good and (though still unrealistic) and they have implemented a visual system that shows the body's response to hard bumps and impacts. I am actually surprised it was as good as it was. If any of you out there have the full game is it as good as the demo was or did EA sell us another clunker with a fancy package and tasty teaser, but in the end it's full of bugs and glitches?

Went n preordered mine today along with modern warfare 2! I played the NFS shift demo and it was s***. It brakes for you in the corners and i was driveing the gtr and it slid around every corner no matter how fast I was trying to take them. Quite possibly the worst NFS ever.

You didn't change any of the settings did you, turn all the assists off and try again, it won't break for you and unless you ease into them you will lock them up and slide right into the wall. If you change the AI to the hardest difficulty with all the assists off it does in fact go from being so arcadish to very much like a simulator. I'm usually pretty good with driving games and I had a a very hard time getting around the the London track.

First, the Datsun 510....

Here's to hoping for a KA24DET swap, cause that would be beasty.

Second, the 1990 Chevy IROC - Z

Raise a beer for all mullet wearing rednecks and North Jersey guidos out there that will be playing this game.

Sad to see yet another game featuring the fatter, plastickier '70 Chevelle instead of the sexier, sleeker, '69.

Still, at least it's not a '71 or '72. But the '69 is so much sexier.
