If the AC works, I will keep it, I will also be keeping the carpet. The stripping part was aimed more at the engine bay, I hate how cluttered the SOHCs are, I plan to remove all the emissions, clutch fan/shroud, and Id like to put the battery in the trunk. I plan to make working on it as easy as possible.

I also plan to put my stock S14 seats into it, as soon as I get around to putting the rigid buckets in to replace them.
everytime i read strip the interior these days I think of S13s with no AC, no radio, no door panels, and ripped up to ****. looks like crap for the most part...... annoys me to no end.

word you can def dump some useless stuff for sure.

I dont so much care about the AC thing, Ive never had a car with AC, its not the worst thing ever. As for interior, Im kind of anal about having everything in place, and at least semi clean. I hate people who treat their cars like garbage cans.

At first glance it has a little more rust than Id like to deal with for a rally car.

Ive been on the hunt for a clean FC for my next rally project.

My buddy has a FC that would make a good rally car. Would probably sell it too.

Im not in any hurry, Im looking for a clean series V, blown motor, rust free rolling shell, I could care less about the interior. I figure when the perfect one pops up, I will buy it.

Hahahahaha

We cant have studded tires here in MN. That being said, new gen snow tires actually perform better on snow and Ice then conventional studded tires.

As for the fender, I will most likely replace it at some point, Im sure it will annoy me enough eventually.

I will never let it die.

Well, I got the car moved to its new home this evening. She is filthy, I had time to hit her with the hose before heading out. If time permits, I will give the exterior a good once over on Sunday. I did snap a teaser pic of her current resting place.

Oops, I forgot to mention, I talked to the previous owner, the AC works mint, and its an R12 system so it is very cold, Im excited, Ive never had AC.

I would have just edited my last post, but screw it, this thread is so awesome it deserves a bedtime bump.

Yes, but you already know what you have, Ive seen your FC, and unless you are going mental, you wont be letting it go cheap.....

Will you?

Yours is a little cleaner, rust wise, though I have yet to get a good look at my frame rails. Im really excited to have something to work on again, I enjoy projects, and my S14 would require big moneys to add to. I needed something to tinker with. Life with A.D.D. I guess.

I know what you mean, I wrenched on my S13 all day today and finally got the stumble comming down to idle fixed. Only took me six months! I'm having a beer to celebrate.

I dug in last night, fixed a few little issues, and discovered a new one.

First things first, I gave the car a quick wash, it will get rewashed on Wednesday, and I installed my Nicoclub decals. Got to rep the crew right?

Secondly, I brought my trickle charger home from work and started bringing battery back to life.

I swung by the local Carquest and picked up my first round of supplies. The previous owner had neglected changing the oil for quite a while, so I picked up a whole case of 10 W 30, and a filter. I also picked up a valve cover gasket and some engine degreaser, which I will get to later.

I started by adding about two cups of seafoam to the engine oil, then I let her run for about 15 min. Once the engine was good and hot, I pulled the drain plug and let the nasty drain out, it was black as night. With the plug out I grabbed a fresh quart of oil, and poured it into the engine, to rinse it out a little. Once it was done draining, I put the plug back in, tossed in three quarts, and started her back up. I then let it run for another ten minutes.

I had bought a VC gasket, because I had seen that it was leaking, I figured now was a good time to install it. I was pretty happy with how the inside looked, a little carameling, but no sludge build up.

Out came the plug again, this time it was less black, and I also pulled the filter. I reinstalled a fresh filter, and drain plug with a new crush washer, and filled her up with oil. After running it to prime everything I topped it off and checked the level, the oil on the dipstick is clear as day.

Thats it for step one, I will be digging into the serious cleaning on Wednesday, I may even opt to remove the interior.

+1 for going to car quest. I manage a local ind store. Red filter ftl but for a beater as long as you keep it changed it will be just fine. I would run some studded tires or somethin with some good meat for snow. Even with good tires going uphill on highway in the middle of a storm is always fun. Welcome to the s13 club.

I almost exclusively use Carquest, they have by far the best parts support, and the most knowledgeable staff, as far as in my area is concerned, plus they have an in house machine shop. Its a beater, red filter will be fine.

As for studded tires, they are illegal here in MN. Ive done serious research concerning snow tires, I know more about them then Id like to, and I have experience with quite a few. Studded snow tires are a misnomer, today's high tech studdless tires will perform far better than a studded tire for daily driving.

Ive driven almost every winter with a RWD car, and I know exactly what I'm in for. Ive actually been researching my options as far as rear diffs are concerned. I could rock the open diff, I could weld it, or I could swap to a VLSD, I dont know what I want right now.
srpowered240sx wrote:great deal for 500. have fun with it. keep this updated.
I will for sure be working on the car every week, if not bi weekly. Im trying to decided on a new thread title, as this is now going to be a build thread.

I should also mention that I discovered a new issue last night, that I forgot to mention. When I removed the valve cover, I must have pushed on the fuel injector pigtails. The car is now running on 2 or 3 cylinders on and off, if I wiggle the wires I can make the car run fine, I may just end up rewiring them. Either way, I will address the problem on Wednesday.
