I'll hook it up with a timing light if you hook Brian up with an alignment. I'll also through in a drive on the 350z.

after all the crazy **** we did to it.... you know....

Alignment will cost you $50 (thats $30 off). I can adjust all angles to your desired settings, or I can set it up for a prefered driving style (drift/drag/auto X/spirited street). Just give me a heads up a day or two before. The best time to come in is evenings after 5. I dont think I will be able to help you this week, Im heading out of town Thursday morning, Ill be gone till Sunday night.

As for the timing light, Ive got one I can bring home from work. How about that seat though, have you been out to the shop lately?

Well, its almost time for the real test. I will be taking the car on a 900 mile road trip to LSPR. I will let you know how she performs when I return.

Thanks, Im excited as hell to have it, Ive forgotten what its like to drive a quite, smooth riding, non rattling car. To me its better than a caddy.

I leave for the Rally this afternoon, Im very confident with the car as she is now. I got the coolant flushed and the thermostat changed. I also discovered a tear in the acordion part of the stock intake pipe right near the throttle body. I fixed it, but I will have to replace it, if anyone has an SOHC intake laying around, I would love them forever.

alright it was a little less smoke
whoa whoa whoa, lets get some things straight, it did not smoke nearly that much, it more sprayed water all over the place. and put up some weak *** dyno numbers.

I snapped a few pictures of the S13 while it was in the parking garage next to my S14, they are a little grainy but I think it still looks decent.

I also got some pretty cool pictures of the car while at the rally this weekend.

I need to pull the S14 out to finish winterizing her, I will get some front shots of the two. I also plan to drive to a good photo location with both cars, for one last photo shoot.

There is a cool stone brige near a park that Ive seen. Id like to get both cars underneath it, with the leafless trees in the background. I think I will look cool if I photoshop out all the color in the background, leaving just the shiny red S13, and the S14s sexy bronze wheels.

She drove perfectly. I do think I may have the beginning of carrier bearing failure. If only my stock S14 shaft would fit.

Mini update

I installed new speakers today.

The sound system was, to say the least, a little hacked up. One Boston Acoustic 4" 2" side by side in the drivers door. Factory 4"x6" speaker in the passenger door. Pioneer 6 1/2" two ways in the rear. Both front speakers were completely blown. The rears were buzzing, as well as being poorly fastened so they were also rattling.

I installed matching Xplode 4"x6" 4 ways in the doors, properly wired and isolated. In the rear I installed some no name 2 way 6 1/2"s that I picked up a while back. I isolated these as well as re wiring them.

Instead of being 60% noise 40% sound, I now have 100% clear music from all 4 corners. The car already has a AIWA CD deck, but it is pretty old, and most likely on its way out. Couple that with the shoddy wiring I'm sure is hiding back there, and I foresee it being replaced shortly.

To kick off the awesome new sound, I picked up a CD that I have been lusting after for a while.

Here's my favorite track off the disc thus far. If you've never heard of Ratatat, I would strongly suggest checking them out.

Ratatat - Mirando (ignore the crappy user video)

Ive talked to Proven Force about carrier replacment, they quoted me like $30 for the bearing, and $40 to install it on the shaft as well as balance it. Thats with pulling the shaft myself.

Its not that bad yet, just something I noticed at certain speeds. Im going to give it a little time, if it deteriorates or annoys me enough, I will replace it.

Its more of a gowling bearing noise between 35 and 55 mph. Ive checked all the wheel bearings, they are tight, and bind free. Its not dependent on weight distribution. Its less noticeable under certain throttle loads, mainly extremely light throttle openings. There is no axial play in the output shaft bushing, or in the pinion shaft bearing. There is however movement in the carrier bearing.

Seems like every carrier bearing I look at has a little play in it. Did you service the transmission?

Not yet, I plan on doing the transmission and diff fluids next week.
