i believe Z1's prie si 8k and that includes the frotn cut and a lot of regular wear or upgrade items, Z1 is also liely to still be in business should anythign be an issue down the road, nto that you can't shop around and beat their price form another reputable shop but you hvae to find a shop and parts etc so some of it is the cost of convienience

hm,, did you took it to the shop or just a guy??

cuz yeah there is a guy who is willing to swap tt into an NA for $800, not including the parts. just for the labor.

If it is the shop, wow, that is cheap. anyways, look luck with that! you will like the turbos spoolin'!

i bought my own motor and the parts i needed to do the swap so he's charging me 900 for labor and 300 for the custom intercooler piping. but i had to have him fix the heater core also so that was another 450 . but i'm an advocate of doing it this way but alot of people will choose to go z1 or front clip i just feel like you're buing an old a** engine regardless so its not any more likely that your front clip will be in any better condition than my "jdm engine". plus on a front clip all that s*** has been sitting in that engine bay for however long out doors so you'll probably need to replace parts anyways and if the shop doesnt do that for free then thats a f***in rip off.

i took it to a shop tek one motorsports in riverside. all they work on for the most part is z's, i saw a 240 there once and 2 fd's but when i took my car there my z was one of atleast 6 and when i went in to make a deposit and saw my engine sitting on the stand i didnt even recognize it! they powdercoated my valve cover and re finished/cleaned my upper intake manifold and they cleaned my whole engine for free! so i feel pretty confident in these guys.

thats not a bad deal.. though i wouldn't do the 300 for pipings yet heater core for another 450?

ripoff. it's easily done while everything is out of the car.

oh wells... they have to make a living somehow.just get it done and over with and get on the road. you'll be happier once done

yeah i'm not doing the piping or the heater core after all. he was explaining to me with the stock turbos it will just make them laggy so i decided not to and he just had a spare set of stock piping at the shop and used that instead so that took like 100 bucks off my bill and the heater core took that 450 off but i can understand because you have to pull the whole dash out to do the heater core and you wouldnt normally have to do that durring the swap process.

UPDATE: so it wasnt done yesterday my dumb a** forgot to take him the brackets to mount the trans and my maF and air filter so i had to take that stuff last night and he said it'll be done today.

on a positive note though i took some teaser pics while i was there

he said the engine i got had been worked on in japan, he says i definately have 555's (which kinda sucks cuz my ecu is tuned for 370's so he has to chip or replace it). and also he said something about the engine was balaned... also the cam gears and timing belt are tomei and there is a damn near new gasket set on it. also he said the heads are ported. so i'm feeling pretty confident about my $950 engine right now lol
