As some of you may know, Robert sold his Q not terribly long ago, so he's getting out of the Q scene... With that being said, he emailed me about one final run of NICO ECU's before they go away indefinitely. There is talk about another member here taking over but this will be the last run from Robert... I have no idea if the deal with this other person will work out and what kind of time frame will be available....

Since this is the last run, Robert said he'd be willing to do more.. With that said, I think i have 4 cores, maybe 3 if a local friend of mine claims one.... If you have an extra ECU that you want sent to Robert, we can do that as well....

Pricing is going to be $250 with $100 core deposit if you use one of my cores. If you send your own ECU, then theres no core deposit....

I'm in for certain! Can't afford to possibly miss the opportunity. I'll take a 94 ECU with TCS. If you are running low, I could see if my local junk yard has any (They have 6 Q's 90-96), however, I would rather just purchase a core. Do we just Paypal YOU for these Wes? Thanks Adam.

Guys... don't miss out on this. I absolutely love mine! My gas mileage has been horrible, but that's got to be because I can't keep off of the accelerator. Might have something to do with testing Isaac's sofware and the consult adaptor for an hour or so of idling too... hmmm

Anyway, this is a great mod. For you 90-93 guys (and maybe 94+) that have always fought a little bit of irregular idle, especially in the summer... Robert was able to set the target idle at 700 for mine. This is a great improvment. No matter what I've done with the IAC set screw, the ECU would still try to hit that 600+/- 50 target if I was in drive before we did this.

The smoother idle alone is almost worth the price of admission. Anyhow, if you've been thinking about doing this - do it!

Hi,

I'm new around here and just got a 95 w/ no active, no tcs. I'd like in if possible. Likewise I'll have to send my ecu in as core after the new one arrives, no extras. Let me know who and how to pay and when, thanks.

Wes,

I'm in... been wondering when you would have more of these available. I have a 1990 Q, and don't currently have a core (other than the one in the car). Since you only have a few and there seems to be good demand, do you recommend we find a core and send it to Robert?

Any chance you have access to others?

Thx

Let me check on my core situation tomorrow and I will get back to everyone. In the mean time, start looking for cores!!!! I'm speculating, but I think i have 2 non TCS cores, thats it.

In the original thread, you will find that the OBD II chips cannot be modified easily at all. Strictly an OBD I thing, so it is not for the 1996 G50.

Thanks Cyclons, I'll double check my ECU numbers (since I don't know what they mean) and if it's correct I'll buy the 94.

I'm definately in! Just let me know where to send my money and the ECU and it's on it's way. I have a 92 non-active with TCS. I won't be using the TCS so if you want to swap it for one without it then be my guest. I also won't be using EGR so if he can program that out of the ECU then that's even better.

It might be helpful for those of you getting cores, to find out from Robert which ones will be acceptable. From what I remember all of them are physically the same, except for the TCS units - but don't quote me on that. I had a '93 Active ECU sent to him for modification on my 90Q. Also, check http://www.car-part.com for cores... you can typically find some decent deals there.

The only thing you need to worry about is TCS or non TCS... 90-95 are all interchangeable as far sa how they operate.

Wes & Robert

Count me in, I'll send my ECU a 91 non tcs

Thanks Freddy B

Did you work out any boosted options. Been lurking for a long time, Just finished my son's Boosted Spec V running a precision power t67 with a built bottom end. man that thing is fast, so my Q was put on the back burner, still planning on boosting the Q.

Hello Wes: I would like to jump on board. I have a 1991 active that was converted to nonactive. I'll also need an ECU core too.

So you're saying a non-TCS car could use a modified ECU from any 90-95 - that the actual hardware in there is essentially the same, and that the only difference from the factory was the programming? That should make finding ECU cores a lot easier!
