Put me in for the 'final run!'

I will pay the core deposit for the NICO ECU and return the stock core from my 94-Q45a.

Thanks in advance for your reply!

Sounds good!!! Does your Q have TCS, because if it does I dont think I have any 94-95 TCS ECU's as cores.

TO ANYONE INTERESTED IN CORE EXCHANGE

I've decided what Im going to do, since Im not sure how my cores are going to work out, instead of reserving them I am going to have them programmed, and when they return to me I will distribute what I have... So if you want a core return setup you will wait until I get the ECU's back..

Is the California ECU different than the "Federal" ECU in 1990? Will a Federal ECU work as a core for my 1990 California Q?

The programming is different, but the hardware is the same - so you're fine with a Federal ECU core.

Yes, it does have TCS -rats!

Where to go for a spare?

Mine is a daily driver so I'll have to spend for a dupe core...

Thanks in advance for your guidance and direction!

I'm shopping this week for one.

Could you confirm your mailing address -I'll have it shipped directly for processing as a NICO ECU for my 94 Q45a with TCS.

Thanks again for your help!

I would be willing to do the ecu's if I had the program and a diagram. Let me know if I can help. I'll email Robert.

Jay might sell me an extra ECU w/ TCS for my 94 Q45a, but replied with concern about Robert Bowen's ability to reprogram it for lack of switching boards.

If this isn't an issue, could someone reply to me with his shipping address -I'll drop ship the ECU to him directly for reprogramming.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Just out of curiosity, what type of hardware are you needing to facilitate reprogramming? I'm sure you'll let us know when you may resume right?

Wes, can I send back my original NICO ECU and have the stage 4 program installed?

The car seems to run lean at WOT with the program in it now, and seems to run rich at normal driving speeds. I would liek to have the ability to switch from stock to Stage 2 to MAD MAX with the switcher.

I wonder if the Valet setting would get me better gas mileage around town. Has Robert done any research for a program that would increase gas mileage at part throttle? City driving really eats up the gas.

I can run the car with the stock ECU while you are having it reprogrammed.

Shoot me an email with the price to modify.

Thanks!

Jeff

Jeff we could do it but we are out of hardware. We cannot modify any more ECUs right now simply because we dont have the equipment...

FWIW, my Q gets better gas mileage with stage II or III than with anything else... I got my record gas mileage with stage III on the highway (something like 24.2 MPG or something crazy)

Also, the program is DESIGNED to run on the lean side at WOT, that is how it gets the extra power.

Bottom line is theres nothing thats going to help (significantly) your city fuel mileage. its called 4.5 litres.

I have the equipment to do the older ODBI 90 - 94 DSM (Talon/Mitsu/Laser)

They use the AT29C256 chips... I am no code writer but I am learning from others and the moates programmer I have is nice. Will let you emulate / burn the chip right in the car.

I have a 1990 Q but I have yet to take apart the ECU in it.

Do the 90 - 95 (95 being the ODB I to ODB II transition year) happen to use the same type chip s the dsm uses?

I have a TON of extra chips if you need them and ZIf sockets as well!

We have different setups, we dont use those chips because we use the switchers, im sure robert has a bunch of those chips... But everyone wants the switchers..

We actually cant use the zif sockets with the switchers for some reason... I tried it and didnt work.
