i mentioned it. my dads friend in high school had one. well, no, he had a javelin. but yeah the AMX was badass. pretty quick for a lesser known car. gotta love the engines in them too. such odd displacement (CID)

Yeah my dad has a 1970 AMX with a 390 and 4 speed. I dont know not all the engines were wierd dizes. The 390, and 360 are pretty common sizes.

401 and 301 and some other odd ball numbers, they just gave them the actual size for the most part and didn't give it more or less to make it sound better.

I'm wanting to say the Chevy 396 was actually like a 403 or so at one point...

The best muscle car is without a doubt the Shelby GT500 E. Or better known as Eleanor. 725hp supercharged 427 aluminum block, same as in the ac cobra. Plus it has a 150 shot of NOS for a little kick. The Black with silver stripes is the best.

http://www.sandersonsales.com/...s.htm

that site has some sweet pics.

a few weeks ago some friends of mine and I went to this place for Carrol Shelby's 83rd b-day. There were so many sweet mustangs there. Plus there was a Shelby series 1, Ferrari f-40 and a murcialego. Plus many more. I got to meet my hero of car guys Carrol Shelby. It was an awesome show. Plus we got to see the GT500 E in the production process.

Naw the Go package is recognisable by its wild colors and painted bumpers that match the car.

edit: I am wrong. I was thinking of the big Bad color option. This has what the go package consisted of:

Most options remained the same as in 1969. Fourteen inch rally wheels were standard, 15 inch Rebel Machine wheels were offered as a factory option. The Go-Pakage now consisted of the 360 or 390 with standard four-barrel and dual-exhaust; power front disc brakes; Goodyear F-70x14 small raised white letter tires; handling package; Twin Grip differential in various ratios (2.87 or 3.15 with automatics, 3.54 with 4-speeds); heavy-duty cooling; and functional Ram Air hood. Group 19 performance equipment was still available as dealer installed items

If I ever go old school, the Shelby Mustang will be my target I think. But I don't have enough money for my 240 project let alone the shelby. lol

that wasn't a Mach 1 just a fast back GT

no offense, but reading this thread some of you goofed on the years.

the Mach 1 wasn't introduced until 1969 when Ford decided to end their relationship with Carrol Shelby, the mach 1 was to be an answer to the GT500 and in the 428 trim, definitely held it's own as well as the other motor options. It was also in my opinion, the best looking stang ever made.

oh yeah, Eleanor is really a '73 Mach 1 in yellow with the black Mach 1 decals:)

I wanna watch that movie again...

I enjoyed the remake except the lame CGI jump at the end of the chase:( It did however have more of a plot than just stealing cars that were actually insured...

anybody seen The Junkyard Man?

The ultimate muscle car.....Shelby Cobra 427 (the AC based one, not the mustang). Primitive, brutal, fast, handles great, AND they still make them in kits today.

Honorable mention:

Plymough Superbird63 Vette Split window (timeless design)70 1/2 Camaro Z-28 split bumper (gorgeous)AMC Javelin AMX (well kept secret.

hah! the skyline has been in production since the 50s. the GTR was first built in 69 or 70. dont remember the exact year. the last one was in the mid 70s, then the GTR badge dissappeared and all we had were GTs and GTX skylines. there are quite a few sites about it. but for briefness: had the S20 DOHC I6 making 160hp, well balanced (considered the best handling skyline made to some), front disc/rear drums, etc. there are tons of sites around with info on them.
